Chapter 5: Is he a policeman?

Many passersby around had already started to gather and discuss.

“Tsk tsk tsk, that’s true. This person says he’s a police officer, but I don’t believe it. He looks… like a bandit at first glance,” a Da Kuai Tou muttered to those around him.

“Indeed, there are so many scammers pretending to be police officers these days…”

“Yeah, appearance reflects the heart! This person looks like a fierce bandit, how could he be a police officer? And he’s not even wearing a police uniform!” someone in the crowd whispered.

Su Ming couldn’t be bothered to waste words with a thief and angrily shouted, “Enough! You’re a habitual thief, stop acting! Where did you put the stolen goods? Hand them over quickly!”

“What did I steal! I was just walking properly! Why would you…” Zhu A Si’s face was grim, but he still stubbornly argued, trying to muddle through.

Just then, Li Chengming belatedly ran over, pushing through the onlookers, and stood panting in front of Su Ming, hands on his knees, gasping for air.

He hadn’t exercised in so long that a sudden run almost made him suffocate.

But seeing Su Ming from a distance slap a seemingly honest middle-aged man to the ground, Li Chengming only wished his mother had given him two more legs.

He watched as Su Ming, like a small mountain, held the middle-aged man’s wrists with one hand while pressing down on him with one knee.

Li Chengming was stunned.

The takedown posture was standard, but please don’t take anyone down next time!

Brother, do you not know how much you weigh, or do you not know how terrifying your current appearance is?

If you still can’t imagine the scene, just picture a Shaquille O’Neal Pro PULS version pressing down on you with one knee.

“Hoo… Su… Su Ming! Let go! Get up first!” Li Chengming stood up, supporting his old waist with one hand, and ordered breathlessly.

“Brother Ming! This is a repeat offender! He has stolen goods on him right now!”

Su Ming quickly said upon hearing Li Chengming’s order.

“Officer, this Da Kuai Tou just slapped this man to the ground! He’s simply lawless! How can he just hit people casually?”

An elderly woman with graying hair, seeing Li Chengming, who had just arrived, wearing a police uniform, though she didn’t know why the officer knew this bandit-like strong man, still bravely stepped forward to speak up for justice.

This strong man was full of banditry; how could he be a good person?

And looking at the middle-aged man sprawled on the ground, looking like an honest, harmless fellow.

Comparing the two, people naturally didn’t believe Su Ming.

“Exactly! Who does he think he is? How can he just attack someone?” someone in the crowd said indignantly.

“I think this middle-aged man is honest and doesn’t look like a bad person; this Da Kuai Tou looks more like a gangster! Officer, don’t wrongly accuse a good person!” The gray-haired old lady, filled with a sense of justice, continued to tug at Li Chengming’s police sleeve, arguing her point.

“Su Ming!”

Li Chengming looked at the growing crowd, the constant chatter, and even many people raising their phones to record, making him break out in a sweat.

Seeing that Su Ming wouldn’t let go, he sternly put on a serious face and said in a solemn voice, “Su Ming, let him go first, mind the impact…”

As Li Chengming spoke, he forcefully winked at Su Ming, signaling him to note the many onlookers filming.

After all, in Li Chengming’s view, Su Ming had jumped out of the police car like a madman, declared a passerby a habitual thief, slapped him down, and restrained him.

With Su Ming’s two-meter-three physique and bandit-like special aura, his ability to attract attention was no less than that of a celebrity.

Under the public eye, if there was a misjudgment, it would definitely cause an uproar.

Su Ming might even face disciplinary action!

It was important to remember that Su Ming had not yet officially joined the force, and this could very well affect his employment.

Su Ming naturally understood the meaning behind his senior brother’s winks, but he slightly shook his head.

He had casually felt Zhu A Si’s bag just now; it was bulging with cell phones.

Zhu A Si was undoubtedly a habitual thief!

So, facing the discussions of the many onlookers, Su Ming remained calm and composed, his gaze like a knife, staring directly at the slightly trembling Zhu A Si in his hand, slowly saying each word: “Open your bag yourself!”

Zhu A Si weakly protested, still unwilling to give up: “This is my privacy… You don’t… have the authority…”

“I think I do…”

Su Ming lifted the middle-aged man from the ground, a cruel smile playing on his face.

With Su Ming’s height of nearly two meters three and a weight of almost four hundred pounds, that smile almost made Zhu A Si wet himself.

His entire body trembled uncontrollably.

There was no other way; Su Ming exuded an overwhelming bandit aura, a full-blown bully presence.

Everyone looked at the guilty-looking Zhu A Si and couldn’t help but become suspicious.

Li Chengming’s brows furrowed into a tight knot.

At this point, everyone noticed something was off. Although Su Ming indeed looked incredibly fierce, there was also a police officer present.

What was so scary about being asked to open your backpack?

But the middle-aged man was sweating profusely, his eyes darting around, looking like someone with a guilty conscience who had done something wrong.

It inevitably made people wonder.

Now, they all wanted to know if there were any stolen goods in Zhu A Si’s bag.

As for Zhu A Si, the person involved, he naturally knew best what was in his bag: about five years of imprisonment.

Just now, he saw the people around him discussing, and coupled with the newly arrived police officer scolding Su Ming to stop.

He still held a glimmer of hope, feigning composure to argue a few words, just wanting to muddle through.

Now, feeling Su Ming’s gaze, like a steel file, and the giant hand behind him, as large as a winnowing basket.

The force coming from it left him no doubt that if he dared to deny it again, his bones would be crushed.

Zhu A Si looked utterly distraught, trembling as he opened his backpack.

Having been imprisoned multiple times, he knew that denying and lying after being caught red-handed was useless, so he quickly said,

“Officer, I was wrong, I shouldn’t have stolen things! I’ll hand over the stolen goods! I’ll hand over the stolen goods! Gently! Gently!”

Zhu A Si’s confession was like throwing a fire into a pile of gasoline, instantly igniting the discussions of the surrounding people.

Originally, Su Ming’s aggressive action, subduing Zhu A Si without any evidence, coupled with Su Ming’s overwhelmingly bandit-like image,

this action easily aroused everyone’s displeasure.

In fact, including Li Chengming, he was extremely dissatisfied with Su Ming.

He understood that young people wanted to solve cases; they all went through that stage.

But this was no longer the time when laws were incomplete a decade ago; all basic procedures still had to be followed, otherwise, it could easily backfire.

To slap someone down and restrain them without cause, and then call them a thief in front of so many people.

If it turned out to be a mistake, people could sue Su Ming and sue Jiangbei Public Security Bureau!

So Li Chengming was very disappointed with this junior brother just now, whether it was the act of jumping out of the car or the reckless subduing of Zhu A Si.

In his opinion, both were extremely immature behaviors.

However, Zhu A Si’s confession slapped him in the face.

Su Ming’s judgment was correct!

Zhu A Si was indeed a thief, and he even had so many stolen goods on him!

Su Ming effortlessly shattered Zhu A Si’s psychological defense with just a look and a few words.

Such deterrence was simply astonishing.
