Chapter 7: Adventure Team

The Adventurer's Guild in Gray Rock Town was a three-story stone building.

Walking straight to the end of the town's main road, a brightly painted red building directly opposite the square was the Adventurer's Guild's base.

On the pointed archway, the sword, shield, and staff banner representing the Adventurer's Guild fluttered in the wind, and adventurers constantly moved in and out below it.

Gaosi had not entered it in the more than a year he had been in town, at most, he would casually glance inside when passing by the door.

The reason the original owner didn't dare to go in wasn't because the Adventurer's Guild had any restrictions on visitors' identities, but simply due to an inferiority complex.

The former owner always felt that only powerful adventurers and professionals could step inside, and casually entering would invite questioning or strange looks from others.

Under the watchful eyes of two guards in elite light armor at the entrance, Gaosi walked in with the same calm demeanor as other adventurers.

The first floor was a public hall, similar to the service halls of social public institutions in Gaosi's previous life.

The hall was bustling with people, adventurers carrying various weapons and armor gathered in groups of three or five, chatting.

“There aren’t any decent quests today, are there?”

“The last time I chopped that Gnoll, my sword got dull, and the quest reward wasn't even enough to repair my weapon. It was a huge loss.”

“Although Goblins look weak, if their numbers exceed three, it’s completely different. You must be careful.”

“.......”

Gaosi turned his head, observing the hall's environment.

He even saw several non-pure human creatures, such as Orcs, Gnomes, and Dwarves, though the most numerous were human adventurers.

His gaze left the crowd, and he looked at the surrounding facilities.

The information desk was a semicircular arch around the hall, with several receptionists seated there.

Besides the information counter, various quest information was also posted on the notice boards on the surrounding walls.

“Common Material Quest: Submit Slime Cores, obtained from Slime monsters. Quest Reward: 3 silver coins / 5 Slime Cores. This quest is long-term.”

“Common Material Quest: Bloodtooth Fern, the plant needs to retain its vitality when submitting the quest. Quest Reward: 50 copper coins / plant.”

“......”

Quests filled several walls, making Gaosi dizzy, so he chose to go directly to the front desk to inquire about the requirements for taking on quests.

The counter receptionist, a sweet-looking young lady, stood upright behind the counter.

“Hello, I’m Receptionist Petra, employee ID E21051. How may I help you?” she said energetically, with a perfectly poised smile, clearly well-trained.

“This is my first time here. May I ask what requirements are needed to take on quests?”

“A new adventurer? Then you need to register as an individual adventurer first. Oh, right…”

“The registration fee is 1 silver coin. Can you accept that?”

“Yes.” Gaosi took out a silver coin from his pocket, secretly Rejoice that he had sold the Goblin ornament a few days ago, otherwise, he wouldn't even be able to afford this registration fee, which would have been embarrassing.

“Alright, then please fill out this adventurer registration form.”

“Thank you.” Gaosi took the form Petra handed him and quickly scanned it.

Besides his name, age, basic physical information, and permanent address, he also needed to fill in his proficient weapons or skills.

After truthfully filling it out, Gaosi handed the form back to the receptionist.

“Then I will proceed with your registration.”

She quickly operated her hands under the counter, and within a few seconds, she took out a white emblem.

“This is your personal identity and adventurer rank proof. You will need to present this emblem when taking on or submitting quests in the future. Please keep it safe; a replacement will cost 1 silver coin if lost.”

Gaosi took it, flipped it over, and examined it carefully. This rhombus-shaped emblem was made of a white metal, with exquisite plant patterns carved on its surface, and the craftsmanship was quite good.

“Miss Petra, I’d like to take on some combat quests involving Goblins, preferably with fewer monsters.” After completing the procedures, Gaosi directly consulted.

The reason he continued to focus on Goblins was, firstly, that common Goblins are the most common low-level monsters, and secondly, it was out of habit; he had already killed one Goblin, and he felt more confident facing this type of monster again.

He hadn't fought other monsters, and just looking at their names didn't give him a clear idea of their strength.

“Goblins, let me see.” The receptionist pondered for a moment, then pointed Gaosi to a section of the wall.

“That wall has some Goblin quests posted, but the numbers are usually in the double digits or more. If the numbers are too small, villagers generally won’t pay the quest fee to post them.”

Petra's implication was that a small number of Goblins did not pose a threat to the village for the time being, and naturally, there were no such quest sources.

After thanking the receptionist, Gaosi went to the area she indicated.

Sure enough, that wall was covered with many combat quests, and quests related to Goblins were thoughtfully posted in an adjacent area.

【Common Bounty Quest】

Quest Reward: 10 silver coins.

Quest Description: The sheepfold in Stoneclaw Village has been attacked by a group of Goblins. Please help the villagers eliminate the Goblin tribe hiding near the village. The number of Goblins is approximately 10-15.

Quest Submission Item: Complete Goblin Left Ear.

Quest Duration: 5 days.

【Common Bounty Quest】

Quest Reward: 50 copper coins / per.

Quest Description: Assist the guards in clearing and eliminating Goblins wandering on the main road from the town to the Emerald Forest. This quest is long-term.

Quest Submission Item: Complete Goblin Left Ear.

Quest Duration: Long-term

......

There were quite a lot of quests concerning Goblins.

This was natural; as the only Adventurer's Guild in the surrounding area, all quests from villages and strongholds within its jurisdiction would be submitted here.

And Goblins are the most common type of monster; attacking villages and robbing merchant caravans are their main daily activities.

Gaosi looked around, and his brows couldn't help but furrow.

It was indeed as the receptionist had said.

There were no quests for isolated Goblins as he had hoped. Aside from some long-term quests without precise locations, the common Goblin groups causing disturbances were usually in double digits or more.

And currently, even though he had mastered a 0-level cantrip, Mage Hand, he temporarily couldn't deal with double-digit Goblins.

Just as he was struggling, he suddenly heard a hushed conversation nearby.

He didn't intend to eavesdrop, but he happened to hear the word “Goblin.”

“Baihua Village is a bit far…”

“7 or 8 Goblins, can we handle them?”

“Don’t worry, ordinary Goblins like these, I can take one down with each arrow.”

“......”

The team talking consisted of one male and two females, all appearing to be around 18 years old.

The female with long brown curly hair, wearing form-fitting light armor, carried a bow and arrows on her back, and a dagger was tucked into the side of her tall boots. She had a sharp demeanor and seemed to be the leader of the conversation in the team, standing with her hands on her hips, encouraging her two companions.

The other girl seemed much less imposing, with black short bangs reaching her eyebrows, and her gaze darted around. Two daggers were tucked into her waist.

The last young man leaned against a pillar with his arms crossed, an expressionless face, and a long sword hanging at his side.

Just looking at their equipment, all three were more impressive than Gaosi, at least wearing bright leather and light armor, and their weapons looked brand new and shiny.

However, they were a bit too new; there were almost no signs of long-term use.

Are they also new, like me? Gaosi noticed this detail and thought to himself.

Have they already taken on a Goblin quest?

The Archer girl was holding a quest form.

Seven or eight Goblins were fewer than the numbers on the wall, and as a team, although the money would be less, it would also be relatively safer.

He felt that as a Mage, he would definitely need a front-liner.

After pondering for a moment, Gaosi stepped forward and greeted them proactively.

“Hello, my name is Gaosi, and I’m a new adventurer. Is your team looking for more members?”
