Chapter 9: Get another reward, advanced elemental gems

“Charge!”

The three of them roared in unison, a silent understanding passing between them.

Danik was the first to rush forward, his cultivation the highest. He would confront the Magic Crocodile head-on, drawing its attention.

Salun and Beirut would assist from the flanks, aiming for a decisive strike.

Or, if Danik encountered danger, they would disrupt the Magic Crocodile’s attack rhythm.

“Radiance, I swear by my blood, destroy all invading enemies!”

Danik clasped his sword with both hands to his chest and chanted.

Then, he let the sword cut his palm and smeared the pale yellow blood onto the blade.

Salun narrowed his eyes slightly, clenching his monocle in his eye socket.

Danik’s presence had changed.

If before he was like a calm lake, now he was like a raging lion!

His sword emitted a faint yellow glow, and he himself seemed to be bathed in a sacred Radiance.

“Interesting, the bloodline power left by his ancestors, perhaps.”

Bloom was dealing with the leader of the Magic Crocodile, yet he could still spare a glance at the entire battlefield.

After all, he hadn't even used his true strength.

The School mission had another purpose: to weed out the useless.

The useless had no reason to live; their deaths were deserved.

Therefore, everything he did was actually condoned by the School.

Danik skillfully dodged the Magic Crocodile’s death charge, then used the iron sword with its yellow halo to strike its scales.

“Roar!!!”

The Magic Crocodile let out a painful roar.

Although its scales were only breached with a gap, it felt an abnormal heat throughout its body.

As if it were submerged in magma.

From Salun’s perspective, the Magic Crocodile’s scales seemed to be pierced by light, which then burrowed into the tender flesh beneath.

This extraordinary power seemed to affect the Magic Crocodile’s already limited sanity.

“Hurry! I can’t hold on much longer!”

Danik watched the raging Magic Crocodile intently, speaking rapidly to Salun and the other person.

Salun and Beirut exchanged glances.

“Catch!”

He tossed the tough vines he had woven on the way to Beirut.

“Stick to the plan!”

Salun shouted angrily.

The two of them pulled the vines and charged towards the Magic Crocodile.

“Dodge!”

Salun’s eyes moved, and he directed the two of them to retreat.

After meditation, he had become more sensitive to anomalies in magic factors.

Just two seconds after they retreated, a giant water orb suddenly appeared where the three of them had been standing.

“It’s Water Binding! Now, quickly!

It needs time to recover after using it once! Interrupt it!”

Danik charged forward again, engaging the enraged Magic Crocodile.

The web of his hand had already been torn by the iron sword’s recoil, and the extraordinary power within him was gradually returning to dormancy.

“Again!”

Salun and Beirut’s foreheads were sweating, and veins bulged on their faces, clearly indicating they were giving it their all.

The two of them each grabbed an end of the vine and charged forward again.

“Success!”

The three of them felt a surge of exhilaration, having dodged another tail swipe from the Magic Crocodile.

The vine finally wrapped around the Magic Crocodile’s massive mouth!

Salun had seized the opportunity when Danik enraged the Magic Crocodile to loop the vine around its mouth.

“Wrap it a few more times! Seal its mouth completely!!!”

Salun gripped the vine tightly, his arms trembling slightly.

As the two pulled, the vine also made a groaning “sizzle” sound under the strain.

The more critical the moment, the less they could relax. Even though the three of them were exhausted, they gritted their teeth and persevered.

Fortunately, their efforts yielded rich rewards.

While the Magic Crocodile’s biting force was formidable, its mouth’s opening range was not large.

With the vine wrapped around it and Beirut jumping onto its back, sacrificing himself to press down on its huge mouth, the three knew that this Magic Crocodile was largely dealt with.

Its proud, massive mouth sealed by the enemy, the Magic Crocodile clearly panicked.

So it continuously thrashed its tail wildly, slamming the ground like an iron hammer.

Hard rocks were easily shattered by the Magic Crocodile’s tail, causing Salun and the other two to choke on a lot of foul-smelling, damp dust.

“Useless struggle.”

Salun sneered and, with Danik’s combined effort, at the cost of damaging an iron sword, pried open its body that was pressed tightly against the ground.

Its soft white underbelly was exposed to the air. Without a moment’s hesitation, Danik plunged in and frantically stirred.

“Ah roar!!!”

The Magic Crocodile let out a muffled wail, then fell to the ground, dead.

“We’re alive, we’re alive!”

Beirut’s hair was a mess, like a overturned bird’s nest.

He spoke with trembling lips, a glimmer of crystal visible at the corners of his eyes.

“This is all thanks to you two!

Salun, Danik, being able to become your companions is the best decision I’ve ever made.”

Undoubtedly, with his ordinary physical constitution, his role in this battle was almost negligible.

This made him incredibly grateful that he had cooperated with Salun from the beginning, watching out for each other.

“This is all thanks to Danik.

If it weren’t for his special extraordinary power, we couldn’t have so easily made this powerful beast lose its mind so quickly.”

“No, this is all thanks to Salun.

He prepared the vines in advance, made the plan, and he also reminded us to dodge the Water Binding.”

After speaking, a hint of fear still flickered in Danik’s eyes.

The Water Binding had been unleashed without any warning!

If Salun hadn’t warned them, they would have been trapped in the water, becoming unwilling floating corpses.

The three looked at each other and burst out laughing simultaneously.

In fact, Salun knew this battle was a sure win because he hadn’t noticed any red light on the two members of his team.

“Take its eyeballs; these are not only proof, but also extraordinary organs that can be exchanged for some good things at the gathering.”

After finishing their task, the three then looked towards the distant tragedy.

Those who managed to complete the hunt were all elite teams with a Novice Knight.

At this moment, they were sprawled on the ground, panting heavily in disarray.

The majority of the remaining teams had become fodder for the Magic Crocodile.

But only half of the Magic Crocodiles had been killed.

There were still five alive!

They had sustained some injuries, but none life-threatening, so they remained in place, devouring their spoils.

Salun suddenly stood up and casually picked up an intact iron sword from the surroundings.

Then, with a determined gaze, he walked towards the team that still had two members left and was struggling against a Magic Crocodile.

“Salun!?”

Beirut’s eyes widened, wanting to stop this almost suicidal act.

Danik remained silent, merely using his iron sword to support his tired body, following behind Salun.

After losing his ancestral blessing, his strength had also weakened, probably only retaining the power of a Novice Knight.

“Save them!”

Salun said without looking back. Danik had already realized it, but Beirut had not yet understood.

Bloom’s requirement was to hunt ten Magic Crocodiles, but what if they didn’t succeed?

If only a few apprentices remained alive, it wouldn’t be as simple as three people facing one Magic Crocodile anymore.

With the three of them joining, the two who were originally in dire straits stabilized.

They adjusted their breathing, resting briefly.

Then, cooperating with Salun and his two companions, they quickly formed a fighting force.

Under the encirclement of five people, the Magic Crocodile, whose mouth was also sealed, fell to the ground dead.

“Assisted Rudolph, you defied death once, receiving a minor active potion as a reward.”

“Assisted… received an advanced elemental gem as a reward.”

“advanced elemental gem: The most outstanding masterpiece of the Gem School of Wizards.

The explosive damage of an advanced elemental gem can easily shatter a mid-level Wizard apprentice into dust, provided it hits.”

Salun’s lips curled slightly; he admitted he still had selfish motives.

Saving the two who should have died triggered the golden finger’s reward mechanism.

It’s just… Salun’s expression was a bit strange.

Isn’t he a Black Wizard? This style seems a bit off!

Dragging his even more weary body, Salun continued to walk towards the other battlefields.

In just this short amount of time, several more apprentices had died.

These were all rewards!

Salun was heartbroken, wishing he could save more people.

What he didn’t know was that all of this was observed by the School Wizard, who was hidden above the mud pond, secretly protecting them.

The other party held a quill pen and erased the already marked score on the line with Salun’s name on the list.

“Although his aptitude is poor, he is a promising apprentice seed worth cultivating. He is just too benevolent; this won’t do.”

The mysterious Wizard sighed faintly, re-scored next to it, then his figure dissolved into nothingness and disappeared.
