Chapter 1: Start Skinner

Puchi.

The sharp slaughtering knife plunged heavily into the Rock Sheep's abdomen, and streams of dark red blood surged from the wound, flowing into the wooden bucket that had been prepared.

Lin Sheng held the slaughtering knife tightly in one hand, and grasped the Rock Sheep's neck with the other. Only after the blood flowing from its body was barely visible did he hang it on an iron hook, cut open its body, and skillfully peel off the hide.

After finishing, he finally let out a heavy breath.

"Hoo... done."

He put down the slaughtering knife and wiped the sweat from his forehead.

Although since coming to this world, the Rock Sheep hides he had peeled numbered no less than a hundred.

But every time he did this work, it took a considerable amount of effort, leaving him feeling quite exhausted.

He raised his head and glanced at the others in the yard, numbering nearly a hundred, with teenagers like him, sixteen or seventeen years old, making up the majority.

Without exception, these teenagers were all wielding slaughtering knives against the Rock Sheep in their hands, either bleeding them or skinning and cutting the meat.

The air was filled with a pungent smell of blood.

Everyone was more or less stained with dark, dried blood.

Zhenshan Tower.

This was where Lin Sheng was currently located.

It was also a considerable power within Lin'an County.

However, currently he was merely an ordinary skinner within Zhenshan Tower.

As the name suggested, his main job was to process the livestock raised in the tower, bleeding them, skinning them, cutting the meat, and even processing their bones.

Not to mention a half-grown boy like him, it was a considerably tough job even for an adult.

However, in this ancient world with low productivity, having a job also meant being able to survive in this chaotic era.

After all, compared to most forces in Lin'an County, the work at Zhenshan Tower was indeed a bit tough.

But fortunately, they were provided with two meals a day, and at the end of each month, they could get dozens of large coins as monthly wages. This was already considered decent treatment, better than most poor families in the County Town.

It was just a pity that this was not the life he wanted.

As an ambitious young man from Blue Star who had read many web novels, he had seen no shortage of stories about Transmigration protagonists dominating everything.

But now, this Opportunity had coincidentally fallen upon him, yet it was completely different from what he had imagined. There was no so-called domination, only endless work.

"It's already been two months, when will this end..."

Looking around at his busy and enthusiastic peers, Lin Sheng took a deep breath.

Through his dirty, blood-stained apron and coarse cloth shirt, a circular mark could be vaguely seen in the center of his chest.

More than half of the circular mark had been stained blood-red, with only a small portion, less than about 1/10, still showing a faint grayish-white color.

This ring was the only somewhat special thing he had discovered since transmigrating.

After he absorbed the memories of his previous body, he could confirm that this ring mark was not originally on the body.

Therefore, the circular mark only appeared when he transmigrated into the previous body.

He clearly remembered that initially, this circular mark was entirely a faint grayish-white.

When he first discovered the Transmigration, his heart was full of pleasant surprise, but unfortunately, the imagined cheat did not appear. Instead, reality taught him a harsh lesson.

Inheriting the job of a skinner from his previous body, he suffered quite a bit at first.

Although the Rock Sheep looked similar to the goats from his previous life, their size was considerably larger.

Even now, though he could barely be considered skilled, peeling off an entire Rock Sheep hide still took a lot of effort.

However, as more and more Rock Sheep passed through his hands, he also noticed that the circular mark on his chest began to change.

It gradually began to turn blood-red, and after two months, the circular mark was already close to being filled with the blood-red color.

Looking at the mark on his chest, Lin Sheng had a premonition that perhaps when this circular mark was filled, it could bring him a considerable surprise.

"It's almost there. At this rate, it will be filled successfully in just a few more days."

Thinking this, Lin Sheng rested for just a moment before beginning to prepare to process the next Rock Sheep.

To gain a foothold here, he had to process at least two Rock Sheep every day.

Zhenshan Tower, as an upper-tier power in the County Town, had numerous sub-departments under it.

Their Slaughterhouse belonged to the logistics department. Over ninety percent of the processed Rock Sheep hides and meat had to be sold.

And this was one of Zhenshan Tower's main sources of income.

It wasn't until the sun began to set and the sky gradually darkened that Lin Sheng finished processing two Rock Sheep.

And basically everyone in the Slaughterhouse had also completed their goal for the day.

Just then, a strong, bald man strode in from outside the Slaughterhouse, looking formidable.

This bald man looked to be about forty years old, with a rather fierce appearance, giving people the impression that he was difficult to get along with at first glance.

Seeing the large man enter, the skinners immediately put down their tools and stood in front of their respective workbenches. Lin Sheng was no exception.

This bald man was the manager of their Slaughterhouse, and also their direct superior, Wang Dehai.

He was considered an old-timer in Zhenshan Tower, and his status was much higher than that of these lowest-level skinners.

As the person in charge of a small department, he undoubtedly possessed martial arts skills, and combined with his strong physique, he was quite intimidating.

Wang Dehai was holding a roasted chicken in his hand, and while gulping it down, he came before everyone. In just three or five mouthfuls, he had finished the roasted chicken in his hand. He casually wiped his greasy large hand on a skinner, and that skinner had a smile on his face, seemingly feeling quite honored.

"Alright, it's time to knock off for today. Let me see your results today."

Wang Dehai scanned the workbenches in front of everyone one by one, finally stopping at the workbenches in front of a few older skinners, around twenty years old.

"You guys are pretty good. As expected of skilled workers who have been doing this for several years, you all processed three Rock Sheep. Keep up the good work in the future."

He patted the shoulders of these older skinners, then his gaze fell upon the crowd, and he spoke lightly.

"Although the work in our Slaughterhouse is heavy and bloody, there's not necessarily no chance for change. Perhaps some of you will get lucky."

After speaking, he did not linger and turned directly to leave.

The skinners, however, looked at each other, somewhat confused by Wang Dehai's words.

However, a few among them showed a hint of joy on their faces, perhaps having thought of something.

"Get lucky? Is something happening?"

Lin Sheng watched Wang Dehai's figure leave, murmuring softly.
