Chapter 5: Resignation

Li Zhao's team consisted of over twenty people.

When they learned he was leaving today, a few colleagues with whom he had a decent relationship symbolically offered some words of farewell.

The others continued to bury themselves in their work, acting as if they hadn't seen anything.

One of them, named Wang Feng, had received a lot of care from Li Zhao when he first joined, and Li Zhao had taught him many things about the business.

Wang Feng often affectionately called Li Zhao 'Master'.

Now, however, his expression was cold, and he had even blocked Li Zhao's WeChat account.

Seeing this, Li Zhao's lips curled into a cold smile.

At crucial moments, such superficial friendships were never going to be helpful.

Tearing away this veil of hypocrisy now was not necessarily a bad thing.

After Li Zhao filled out the resignation form, he immediately went to find Lin Xiao for his signature.

He had expected it to be easily resolved.

But Lin Xiao's eyes were gloomy, and he wore a long face, as if Li Zhao owed him eight million.

"By resigning now, have you considered the entire team? Don't you think your actions are very selfish?" Lin Xiao slammed his hand on the table and said sharply.

Li Zhao almost laughed at him.

Every time someone resigned, Lin Xiao would say this, seemingly hoping to see guilt on the other person's face.

Li Zhao didn't fall for it at all and said loudly, "Just sign it quickly; I have other things to do this afternoon."

He liked to finish what he started, and besides, he hadn't received his salary yet, so going through the process wouldn't take much time.

"The company has spent so much time and effort training you; don't you have any gratitude?" Lin Xiao questioned emotionally, as if Li Zhao had committed some unforgivable mistake.

"Haven't I made money for the company? Haven't I worked overtime on my days off?" Li Zhao retorted.

Seeing that Li Zhao's attitude remained firm, Lin Xiao simply decided to play tough, "You can't just leave like this. At least work for two more months, and then I will definitely sign for your departure."

At this moment, Wang Feng even chimed in from the side, "Li Zhao, this is a critical period for the team; if you leave, it will seem truly heartless."

"What are you? It's not your place to point fingers here," Li Zhao retorted unceremoniously.

Wang Feng stopped speaking, his face ashen.

Since they had already fallen out, Li Zhao no longer had any scruples.

He decisively took out his phone, quickly dialed the number of a local newspaper, and then held the phone screen close to Lin Xiao's face.

"Sign it within one minute."

Lin Xiao suddenly stood up, pointing his finger fiercely at Li Zhao, "Do you think I'm scared if you call to report me? Try it if you dare!"

Li Zhao immediately pressed the dial button, his tone cold, "A subsidiary of the group is preparing to go public. If a scandal breaks out at this critical juncture, how do you think the higher-ups will deal with you?"

Seeing that he was serious, Lin Xiao immediately panicked.

With thousands of people in the company, Li Zhao's resignation actually had almost no impact on the entire Longke Group.

What would truly be affected was the overall performance of Lin Xiao's team.

If the media really reported this matter, it would inevitably cause some trouble for the company, and the higher-ups would not easily let Lin Xiao off the hook.

He glared fiercely at Li Zhao, "Hang up the phone; I agree to sign."

"You sign it first."

Lin Xiao had no choice but to quickly sign his name in one of the columns.

Afterward, Li Zhao went to HR for their signature, successfully completing the entire resignation process.

He hadn't lied to Lin Xiao earlier; he indeed had something to do that afternoon.

Putting everything on the line, including his future, Li Zhao was going to take a gamble!

After going downstairs, he first returned home, took seven laptops, and then drove straight to the CBD in the city center.
