Chapter 10: Chapter 10 Hallucination

“Good stuff!”

Mu Xing was overjoyed, not expecting such a pleasant surprise.

It was a good thing he didn't stubbornly stick to one path but instead returned to the changing room for a surprise attack.

Otherwise, he would have missed this RIG Suit.

Even the basic suit had several practical functional modules.

Life Sign Monitoring Device.

This device was located on the back exoskeleton of the spine, resembling a perfectly fitted LED light strip.

It could monitor the wearer's heartbeat, breathing, and various health indicators in real-time.

Under normal conditions, it was blue; if injured, the light strip would change color, and its length would shorten.

Blue indicated healthy, yellow indicated injured, red indicated dangerous, and after death, the light strip would completely extinguish.

Additionally,

The RIG Suit had pre-set emergency treatment agents that could automatically inject into the wearer's body when injured.

Holographic Projection Device.

This was a projection device that didn't require a physical display, similar to the virtual projections on the ceiling.

However, the virtual projections on the ceiling were 3D, while the holographic projection in the suit projected into the air, forming a suspended display screen.

It allowed for real-time voice and image interaction.

Navigation System.

Based on the navigation maps stored in its built-in microcomputer, the suit could provide real-time navigation, and even use the holographic projection device to mark travel routes on the ground ahead.

Vacuum Operation System.

The RIG Suit could automatically detect vacuum conditions; upon entering a vacuum, it would automatically seal the suit and activate the internal air circulation system, which could last for about eight hours.

Zero-Gravity Environment Operation System.

Upon entering a zero-gravity environment, the wearer could move by Controling the micro-thrusters on the back.

The micro-thrusters on the feet provided jumping capability, saving more energy.

Additionally,

The RIG Suit could also install various other functional modules, such as an armor module, which could transform the suit into an exoskeleton armor.

Installing a Gravity Module could release gravity tethers, similar to the Ishimura's principle, to remotely Control objects.

Installing a Stasis Module could launch a “slow-time gel” device; this quantum mechanics-based item could release a blue particle stream to temporarily Stasis or slow down the target’s activity speed.

Unfortunately, this particular RIG Suit only had basic functions.

None of the other installable functional modules were present.

Even so, it was enough to excite Mu Xing.

It was much better than the blue overalls he was currently wearing.

The suit was made of nanmaterials, inherently waterproof, heat-resistant, cold-resistant, radiation-resistant, and also possessed a certain degree of cut and puncture resistance.

Mu Xing eagerly used his ID card to unlock the helmet and suit, stripped off his overalls, and put on the RIG Suit.

The moment he put it on, the suit's inner lining automatically tightened, adjusting its size to perfectly fit his skin.

The Life monitoring system on his back activated, lighting up a blue light strip.

Mu Xing moved his body; the exoskeleton device was very flexible, automatically calculating increases and decreases in force based on his movements and thoughts.

With the exoskeleton's enhancement, his strength and speed increased by more than double.

“This is great! With this suit, even those Scythe Bone Spur Monsters can be confronted head-on.”

Mu Xing was a little excited; after putting on the helmet, the inside was a 360-degree, dead-angle-free holographic projection.

He quickly read through the manual to fully understand the suit's functions and limitations.

There was also a buckle on his waist for hanging a Plasma Cutter; Mu Xing had already determined that this suit was the maintenance engineer's work uniform.

Now that he had turned into a monster, the RIG Suit conveniently benefited Mu Xing.

Mu Xing picked up the communicator on the rest chair, turned it on, and heard static noise.

His luck was good; the communicator was almost fully charged.

“Hello? Can anyone hear me? Can anyone hear me?”

Mu Xing continuously adjusted the channels, trying to contact anyone who might still be alive.

However,

After tuning through a dozen channels, besides the whooshing sound of current, no response came back.

Mu Xing walked to the huge floor-to-ceiling viewport; the yellowish-brown planet was utterly silent, and the entire massive spaceship was also utterly silent.

Just like the depths of the universe, this dead end, it exuded a deep sense of despair.

However, Mu Xing did not give up, but continued to tune the frequency.

He made full-channel calls every few minutes.

As a result, no one responded to his calls on any channel.

Of course, it wasn't without gain; at least, after staying here for about an hour, no monsters attacked.

Perhaps… he didn't need to find anyone else to safely survive here for 24 hours.

It should be 22 hours.

After dying so many times, he finally safely passed nearly two hours.

It's just that,

For some reason,

Mu Xing would suddenly experience tinnitus, followed by something flashing before his eyes.

“What’s going on?”

At first, he thought it was a problem with the helmet.

So he simply turned off the helmet, and even took it off.

But the tinnitus and strange visuals would still suddenly appear.

This was clearly not a suit system malfunction.

He then thought he might be poisoned.

However, the Life monitoring system scanned him repeatedly but found no signs of poisoning.

“Mu Xing…”

Suddenly,

He heard someone calling his name.

Who?

He abruptly stood up.

What did he see? A familiar figure stood at the entrance to the lounge.

She was wearing a white dress, smiling brightly as she looked at him.

“Half Summer?”

Mu Xing rubbed his eyes; the figure did not disappear.

He approached step by step, and the shadow became clearer and clearer.

“Half Summer, is that you?”

“Mu Xing!”

She spoke, calling to him.

Mu Xing quickened his steps, running towards the figure.

But as soon as he got within three meters, the figure vanished.

Immediately after, he saw the green light on the large door illuminate, and the door opened.

He saw the figure again; she was like a white lotus, standing in the lounge stained red with blood.

Then,

The figure shattered, and a hideous monster lunged forward.

Splat…

Before Mu Xing could react, he was impaled through the chest by a sharp bone spur.

The Life monitoring system on his back instantly turned red, the light strip's glow rapidly shortened, and then flickered urgently.

Mu Xing instinctively reached for the Plasma Cutter at his waist.

The monster's swift bone spur slashed horizontally.

His vision began to spin.

He saw his headless corpse fall heavily to the ground, and saw the hideous monster hissing at him.

...

“Ugh…”

Mu Xing woke up with a start, clutching his neck.

His hands and feet were ice cold, and the pain of being decapitated made his heart pound frantically.

Memories quickly rushed back, making him recall exactly what had happened.

He had seen a phantom, and that phantom had slowly lured him into the lounge.

Then the phantom turned into a monster, instantly ambushing and killing him.

Mu Xing looked towards the door, realizing there was still a monster in the lounge, or rather, the monster that had left earlier had returned.

Could the phantom he saw be some monster with Spirit Control abilities influencing his thoughts?

Buzz…

The tinnitus struck again, and Mu Xing clutched his ears, a pained expression on his face.

What was going on? The tinnitus hadn't been this painful before.

Could this be a side effect of the death rewind? Would it continuously deepen various pains?

Until he cycled back to a point where he could no longer bear it and self-destructed?

“Mu Xing!”

That familiar voice rang out again.
