Chapter 1: Out

A dull ache throbbed at the back of Lin Wei Yu’s head when she opened her eyes.

“Awake?”

A cold voice came from above her.

She looked up and saw a woman in a silver-grey suit looking down at her.

The woman had delicate features, but her eyes looked as if she was staring at a piece of trash to be disposed of.

It was her stepmother, Winter Ingles.

Fragments of memory suddenly flooded in.

Lin Wei Yu realized that she had transmigrated, into the body of a wealthy young lady with the same name as her.

However, this young lady was in an extremely dire situation.

Her father was missing, and her stepmother was seizing power through a marital change.

Lin Wei Yu was the first thorn her stepmother wanted to remove.

And now, she was sprawled on the floor of the family council hall.

Lin Wei Yu was a little annoyed. No, her game was only half-developed, and she had inexplicably transmigrated?

Her money! The money she had painstakingly earned! It was gone before she even had a chance to enjoy it!

A voice interrupted her thoughts.

“The evidence is conclusive. Do you have anything you wish to say in your defense, my daughter?” Winter raised her hand, and a holographic projection unfolded in the air, displaying a financial record. “A deficit of three hundred million star coins, your authorized ID, your biometric authentication.”

Standing next to the projection was a tall, thin young man, who was her half-brother, Lin Yuan.

His hands were in his uniform pockets, and he didn't even bother to glance at her.

“It wasn’t me.” Lin Wei Yu pushed herself up from the floor, shaking her still-dizzy head.

Twelve directors sat in the council hall, each expressionless. Their faces were as cold as robots, watching Lin Wei Yu without warmth, as if they were watching a play.

“Surveillance footage.” Winter opened a video clip.

In the footage, Lin Wei Yu entered the finance office late at night and operated the terminal to transfer money.

That face was indeed identical to hers.

“This isn’t me,” Lin Wei Yu said. “That day, I was at the medical center, and afterward, I went to the search team to inquire if there was any news of my father.”

“But there’s no record of you in the medical records,” Lin Yuan finally spoke, his voice flat and unemotional.

Lin Wei Yu touched her temple. “Impossible, my optical computer has a record…”

But her hand met empty air.

Where was her optical computer?

Lin Wei Yu paused for a second before remembering what had happened earlier.

Her optical computer had been forcibly removed.

The current dizziness and disorientation were precisely the after-effects of its removal.

Lin Yuan stared coldly at his sister, reciting a list of charges.

“You said there’s a record in your optical computer, so where is your optical computer?”

“According to our investigation, those three hundred million star coins ultimately flowed into an unregistered account, and this unregistered account belongs to space pirates.”

“We suspect this was the commission you paid to hire someone to murder your father. To destroy the evidence, you destroyed your optical computer, so that everything would be without proof.”

“Fortunately, Mother’s family, the Ingles, possesses the most advanced restoration technology in the galaxy, which allowed us to find some evidence.”

“Although there is no direct evidence pointing to you hiring someone for murder, it is enough to prove that you betrayed the family.”

“According to Article 37 of the family regulations, all your inheritance rights are immediately revoked, and you are to be exiled to a garbage planet.”

Lin Yuan was as calm as if he were reading a data report; even when mentioning his father’s disappearance, there was no emotional fluctuation.

No anger, no mockery, just like processing a faulty program.

Winter, watching Lin Yuan’s performance, nodded with satisfaction.

Lin Wei Yu’s temple throbbed.

While digesting the original owner’s memories, she quickly scanned her surroundings. The directors had already begun signing on their data pads, no one sparing her a second glance.

Until she met the gaze of a man on the light screen.

Before she could speak, the man spoke first.

“Has Ms. Winter not forgotten something?”

“Regarding my engagement with Lin Wei Yu.”

Upon hearing this, Lin Wei Yu finally dug out the man’s identity from her memories and instantly rolled her eyes.

What bad luck.

She hadn’t expected him to help her; who would have thought this guy would actually try to kick her when she was down.

Winter looked at Lu Ge. “I believe that given the circumstances, the engagement is naturally void. The Lin family will return the engagement token. What do you think, Mr. Lu?”

Lu Ge’s face was expressionless. “I think the relationship between our two families cannot be settled with just a returned token.”

“Of course. For such a thing to happen, as long as Mr. Lu doesn’t hold it against us, the Lin family will prove our sincerity. After this is concluded here, we can discuss it in detail.” Winter naturally knew what Lu Ge meant; it was nothing more than inquiring how the benefits brought by the alliance would continue after the engagement was dissolved.

Benefits. A glimmer of light flashed in Winter’s eyes. Wasn’t she putting on this show precisely for benefits, catching her stepdaughter off guard?

One should know that her emotional module contained no emotions like hatred or jealousy; if not for seizing power, she would have continued to raise this stepdaughter.

She looked at Lin Wei Yu.

“Your personal belongings have been packed.” Winter pulled up a list. “Out of our last mother-daughter affection, you are permitted to take basic necessities. All other assets are frozen.”

At the bottom of the list, Lin Wei Yu saw that the sapphire necklace, said to be left by her mother, was marked as family property.

“That is my mother’s Relics.”

“Incorrect.” Winter corrected. “This is property belonging to the Lin family.”

Two security robots stepped forward, their mechanical hands gripping Lin Wei Yu’s shoulders, treating her like a prisoner.

The robots escorted her through the long corridor.

Outside the window, the artificial sun was dimming, and the base entered night mode.

Cold blue emergency lights flickered on one by one, illuminating the metal walls.

The faces of the people passing by in the corridor were even colder than the emergency lights; they looked no different from machines, silently going about their business, not even sparing Lin Wei Yu a glance.

Lin Wei Yu finally realized the unsettling feeling that had lingered in her heart since she transmigrated.

These interstellar people were too strange, almost as if they had been assimilated by machines.

The robots directly escorted Lin Wei Yu to the spaceship, never giving her any chance to escape or move independently, until they handed her over to a group of people on the spaceship, who would escort her to the garbage planet.

Lin Wei Yu silently sighed in her heart. Escaping was not as simple as the novels made it out to be!

The robots were guarding too tightly; she couldn’t find any opportunity to escape. Was she really going to be thrown to a garbage planet like this?

Lin Wei Yu pondered.

Being thrown to a garbage planet was a minor issue; what she feared was that her stepmother might outwardly say she was exiling her to a garbage planet, but in reality, planned to silence her.

Perhaps the three hundred million star coins payment proof used to incriminate her was the commission her stepmother paid to the space pirates.

After the handover, the people on the spaceship locked Lin Wei Yu in a room and pointed to a small hovering box in the corner of the room, saying to her,

“Your luggage is here. I advise you not to have any tricks up your sleeve.”

Lin Wei Yu sneered inwardly.

This treatment was a world apart from what she remembered; a mere small box, not even equipped with the most basic spatial button.

Now, she truly suspected someone was preparing to do something to her.

She showed no expression, pretending to be docile and sitting on the bed, observing the people guarding her.

According to her recent observation, everyone on the spaceship wore a unified uniform, and the patterns printed on the uniform were neither the Lin family crest nor the Ingles family crest.

So, whose doing was this group of people responsible for escorting her to the garbage planet?

Just then, a “ding” sounded in Lin Wei Yu’s mind:

【Renaissance System Activated】

【Detected Host’s Current Predicament, Generated Counterattack Route for Host】
