Chapter 34 6. Dragon Slaying Techniques
After finishing their meal, the two Druki dignitaries continued on their way.
"Maybe I should dress more simply?"
Walter looked at him and said carefully: "My lord, even if you only wear a tattered thick-skinned kaitan, they will still recognize you at a glance."
Darkus looked at Walter in surprise.
Finally, we arrived at the market. It wasn't really a market, but more of a bazaar on a large open space. During wartime, troops and supplies were gathered here, and during downtime, it became a marketplace. The market was filled with low-end slave traders, civilians, pirates, pickpockets, and gang members. Several city guards patrolled constantly to maintain order.
The market was at its busiest time of year, with wares plundered from all corners of the world, a dazzling array of goods. Cages filled the market with druzi, Norsemen, human slaves, and all manner of wild beasts. Dacius even spotted a war hydra devouring a druzi in the distance. Someone unlucky enough to be standing at the front of the crowd, watching the spectacle, was pushed out by those behind.
"Good boy, it's really Granny Liu who accidentally stumbled into Panjiayuan and finally opened her eyes."
"Walter, have you been here before?"
"No, sir. It's my first time here."
When Dacus was eight years old, he came here once with his cousin. His unreliable cousin gave him an Araby magic lamp and told him that there was a genie inside. If the genie came out, he could make ten wishes to the genie!
But before, the younger brother had only one wish, which was that his mother could come back to be with him. But as he grew older, he gradually understood that this wish would never come true.
He also asked his cousin, who hesitantly said the magic lamp might be broken. He polished the magic lamp until it was shiny and it was still on the bedside table, next to the crystal ball.
Since then, he has come here every year, most frequently before winter, always looking for some rare and unique things. He would take whatever he liked, and the family guards and waiters following behind him would be responsible for paying for it.
Now Dacus is also curious about this place and comes to take a look.
Walter also looked around, his eyes full of curiosity. There was a special auction house in the aristocratic district where auctions were held regularly. None of the powerful people in the city would come here for nothing.
Dacus, with his large-scale silencing aura and small-scale retreating aura, wandered around, and lost his wallet? That didn't happen. No Druki would walk into the Three Swords for no reason, unless he wanted to return to the arms of Ers Haiai.
"Tell me if you see anything you like."
As he spoke, he turned around and saw Walter stopped. He looked in the direction he was looking and saw a relatively pretty female Druzy slave listed for sale. Darku was speechless.
"Fuck, you really have a big heart. I almost died this morning, and now you're thinking about women again."
Dacus called out to him, "Walter! What are you looking at?"
Walter came back to his senses and stammered, "Sir, no, I didn't see anything."
Dacus looked at Walter and said seriously: “Walter, the strong do as they please, and the weak suffocate in blood!”
After hearing this, Walter was stunned for a moment, then he jumped off his horse and knelt on the ground without saying a word.
Dacius also dismounted and led his horse along.
"Let's go shopping."
After a while of wandering, the market had everything: war hydras, manticores, harpies, giant wolves, and even a wyvern. Darkius even spotted a bed with a few clever people standing next to it. Isn't that clever? It really refreshed his understanding. There were even bed robberies in looting?
"What's that? A blue-skinned goblin?"
"Sir, this looks like a sea goblin, doesn't it?"
I saw a sky blue goblin trapped in a large glass bottle with the mouth sealed with an iron net. The goblin could only curl up in the glass bottle, squatting in the water for a while, and then sticking its face out of the water and sticking to the iron net to breathe. It looked so funny and pitiful.
Next to the sea goblins was a huge cage with a stonehorn lying inside it with its head down. The skull-shaped stone mask and two stone horns on its face were gone, and its body had turned to stone. Daxus stood there and watched for a long time before confirming that this was the stonehorn from the Sorrow Mountains of the Old World.
The Stonehorn seemed to sense Darkus's gaze and turned its single eye towards him.
"It's dying."
"How do you know, sir?"
"The Stonehorn's most valuable parts are its stone mask and horns, which contain gems. Its complete transformation into stone suggests it's on the verge of death. It's also blind in one eye, so it must have been an ogre's mount. Its heart, which turns into a blood diamond, is its only real value now.
"Sir, this blood diamond?"
"It requires a natural death for there to be a chance of that happening."
Dacus saw some Aurora-style objects on a stall, and a three-legged bronze incense burner with a gilded dragon pattern caught his attention.
The furnace's surface is primarily black lacquer, with gilded relief dragon patterns. It has a deep, round belly and three robust dragon heads and feet. The entire vessel exudes a majestic, stately, and ancient air.
Dacus liked it at first sight and walked over.
The stall owner seemed to be a pirate from the Soul Claw. He knelt on the ground when he saw him coming. He picked it up and took a look. He was very satisfied. The shape was intact and there was no sign of corrosion by sea water.
How to sell? Bargaining? No, there's no such plot. Of course, you still have to pay.
Dacius threw two sovereigns into an object, took the censer in his hand and played with it.
"Sir, look, there's a cheetah over there."
Daxus looked over and saw that the Araby cheetah looked the same as the leopard in his previous life, except that it was a little bigger.
"Not interested."
He's not an animal trainer either.
After walking around for a while, Daquus bought an exquisitely shaped black belt inlaid with gold, a lunar waist pendant made of obsidian, an Araby-style monocular and an exquisite pocket watch made by a Nun craftsman.
I bought an ancient silver round-headed cane sword for Walter, which seemed to have been used by vampires before.
Darkus squatted down before a bookstall. He flipped through a book and said, "You can use this cane sword for now. I'll adjust its length later. Do you speak Old World?"
Walter happily played with his cane sword and said, "Thank you, my lord. I can speak the three main languages of the Old World."
Finding that they were all scriptures of the empire, Daxus put the book back in boredom, flipped through other books, picked out one that was not a scripture, and started reading it. He flipped through a few pages and put it back.
"It's full of scriptures, imperial laws, poetry, and cookbooks."
Then he picked up another one and looked at it, flipping through a few pages carefully. He turned around and handed it to Walter and said, "Take a look?"
After saying that, he picked up another one. The cover of this book was so worn out that only a few words could be seen. It was the **'s Dragon Slaying Technique Outline.
Dacus was full of questions: "?"
He flipped through a few pages of the handwritten book, which contained nothing but stories and experiences of fighting giant beasts. He believed everything it said, and then turned the book to the middle, where he saw a beautiful illustration of the Knight of Barto fighting a Cyclops.
"Sir, this is all about the Imperial Navy, as well as some legends and observations about the Claw Sea and the Southern Chaos Sea."
"It's a useful reference. It will be useful in the future, right?"
"Yes, my lord."
"This book is quite interesting too. It should be a record of the Knight Barto's quest for the Holy Grail. It can be used as a bedtime reading."
"I want these two and those cookbooks."
