Chapter 39 11. So Cool
In the castle, Jaeger walked quickly to the door of the study and knocked hastily. Newker, who was working in the study, said, "Come in."
Jaeger walked into the room. Newker didn't even look up and continued to handle his business. "What happened? You're so flustered."
Jaeger recounted what had just happened. Newker nodded calmly, then turned to a corner and said calmly, "Got it. Kesley will go downstairs and make sure every trainer keeps their mouths shut. If there's any problem, you know what to do!"
"Kalyon! Come here and open the cage."
Kalyon ran over directly, looking nervous.
"Master, this is a bit dangerous! Besides, you haven't applied the potion yet!"
"It's okay, I believe this little bad boy."
Dacus left something unspoken: "I would rather trust the beast than Druzy!"
Calien gritted his teeth, his cheeks twitching as he pulled out the dragon whip from his waist and shouted to the two trainers, "Come here, both of you! Get ready to open the cage!"
Darkius waved Walter back. Two animal trainers ran over and stood on either side of the cage. They simultaneously unlocked the cage, opened it, and quickly strode back. The giant horned cold lizard slowly emerged from the cage, turned its head to look at Kaleen, who was blocking Darkius's way, snorted at him, and looked at him with disdain, as if to say, "Stay away from me."
After completing this set of movements, the giant horned cold lizard leaned its head towards Dacus's arms. Dacus stroked its head, and it leaned down and rested its head in Dacus's arms. Dacus stroked its head with his left hand and put his right hand under its chin to scratch it. It stretched out its barbed tongue to lick Dacus's hand, but Dacus immediately withdrew his hand and shook the wound on his palm in front of its eyes. It was stunned for a moment, as if it understood.
"This should be a giant horned cold lizard. Why is it half a circle smaller than the other cold lizards? Maybe it doesn't get enough food on a regular basis? This is no different from petting a cat, except that it's a little rough and smells a bit."
The retreating Kallion stared at the scene in amazement, holding the dragon tendon whip, his mind filled with great confusion. After all, he was a tamer who had participated in the Claw Competition.
This is completely contrary to the Druzic process of beast training. Beast trainers require an innate empathy; cruelty alone is of no value. All elves share a mystical harmony with the natural world, but while most elves embrace this bond for greater wisdom or communion with other creatures, Druzic beast trainers use it as a weapon. Through unwavering practice and refinement in the art of torture, beasts are brought to their knees by the tamer's whip!
In short, the idea is to torture the beast first, then tell it to eat if it obeys, and then continue to torture it if it disobeys, similar to Stockholm syndrome. Of course, these beasts are not from a circus; they are very risky and can easily get out of control. For example, the War Hydra is the core of the Druki war machine, but due to its violent and unpredictable temper, many Druki armies do not want to deal with it.
What the hell is this way?
Kallion began to imagine: "By Anes Lema, could it be that the young master is Anes Lema's chosen one? What about Lakas? That's not right. What about that skink from before?"
"Kalyon, you will take him to choose a cold lizard later."
As Daxus spoke, he comforted the giant horned cold lizard. The giant horned cold lizard walked back to the cage reluctantly, turned around and looked at him with its head tilted. He waved to the giant horned cold lizard and turned away.
"Oh my goodness, the Archdruid is actually me, and my alternate name is 'Hooked Claw Storm'? Isn't that right?"
Yeager returned, with Kessler following behind.
"Jaeger, why were you walking so fast just now? Take me to the other breeding rooms."
Yeager perked up and said, "No problem, Master. Which breeding room do you want to go to?"
"What kind of beasts are there in this underground?"
"Chimera, War Hydra, Manticore, Harpy, Giant Wolf, Abyssal Kraken, and the Ankylosaur and Triceratops that just came from Lustria."
The black dragon was missing, but Darkius didn't ask where it was. He knew it all too well. Both his brother's mother and Maranur's mother had perished near the dragon's lair. The two brothers were still young at the time, and one of them had insisted on going to see the black dragon, only to run into Malekith's Black Guard recruiter.
The Black Wardens are Malekith's personal guard, answering only to the Witch-King's orders. Descended from families favored by the Witch-King, these children are taken from their mothers, who are then slain. Thus, without the bonds of family, these children are raised in the Black Wardens' barracks, learning the art of slaughter and destruction necessary to become the elite of Malekith's elite.
Malekith and the Hellbane family had a tacit understanding that direct descendants of the Hellbane family could not join the Black Guard. However, fate was unpredictable. The leader, a newcomer, ignored his subordinates' advice and insisted on breaking this rule. As a result, Maranur's mother died in battle, and Darkius' mother died of exhaustion from casting spells. His mother's last words were to Maranur: "You must protect your brother!"
The soul of that rule breaker was burned forever by Anasara in the Tower of Destruction, because Dacus's mother was one of Anasara's favorite maids.
Darkus shook his head and followed Jaeger to the breeding room of the war hydras. The four war hydras lay listlessly on the ground and showed no reaction.
"They are well fed. Winter is approaching now. Although the breeding room is not that cold, they are still showing signs of hibernation."
Then, Jaeger said to Dacus with anticipation, "Master, will you try again?"
Darkius stared at the war hydra for a long moment, then closed his eyes, gestured, and shouted, almost taking down the Drum of Echo and performing a ritual. The war hydra's ten eyes stared at him viciously, and he understood that look: it meant to try taking a few steps forward.
Another circle was the same, the five heads of the war hydra lay lazily on the ground, listless, not wanting to pay any attention to him.
Jaeger said with an unwilling look on his face, "Master, do you want to go and take a look at the Abyss Siren's breeding room?"
"No! Let's go to Manticore's."
At this time, Walter finished selecting the cold lizard and walked over with Kallion.
The same thing happened when he went to the manticore's breeding room. Jaeger was completely disheartened.
"Jaeger, what's going on with me?"
Jaeger said weakly, "Master, to be honest, I don't understand. Or is that cold lizard intelligent? That doesn't make sense either."
"It seems I can't help you."
"It's alright, Master. I'm almost seven hundred years old, which is a long time for a Druzy."
Darkius pondered, "Have you considered those people? Besides, am I limited to dealing with creatures from Lustria?"
"Let's go! Let's go check out the Triceratops and Ankylosaur enclosures!"
A hint of hope appeared on Jaeger's face again, and he quickly led the way.
Walking behind, Walter asked in a low voice: "Sir? This?"
"Last year in the Claw Competition held in Naggarond, they were crushed by Lakas of Carond Carr. Previously, there were eight war hydras in the breeding room."
"I understand. If Clarkaronde still loses in the Claw Tournament a hundred years from now..."
Walter Thorn, a Druzy who could barely protect himself, actually showed sympathy on his face.
After walking for a while, we arrived at the breeding room of Triceratops and Ankylosaur.
Jaeger introduced: "Master, this was just received a few days ago..."
Before he could finish his words, another magical scene happened. The two Triceratops and one Ankylosaurus that were lying listlessly on the ground stood up immediately when they saw Dacus coming in.
Jaeger fell to his knees and shouted, "An'ace Lema is above!"
Walter looked around in confusion. As for Kallion, he just stood at the door and didn't come in.
Darkius pondered, "Skin Lizards? Cold Lizards? Triceratops? Ankylosaurs? What do they have in common? They're all from Lustria! Does that mean I can only empathize with species from Lustria? Even those not born in Lustria are okay? My forum friend turned out to be me?"
Hearing the muffled cries of the Triceratops and Ankylosaur, Darkus came to his senses and asked, "Are you cold?"
The Triceratops and Ankylosaurus hesitated for a moment, then began to nod their heads.
Watt didn't shout "Kane is above" or anything like that because he was used to it.
Jaeger had recovered, stood up and said with a look of surprise: "Master, what about you?"
Daxus said, "I'm not sure either. Maybe I can only empathize with the beasts of Lustria. It seems I have to go to Lustria. I have a feeling it will be more than one trip." After that, he climbed onto the Triceratops, hung on it like a lizard and said, "Bring more hay. It's too cold here for them." Then he played on the Triceratops and Ankylosaurus for a while.
"Come on, it's a dinosaur, it's so cool!"
I'm going to cook. Don't wait for me tonight, it may not be done.
