Chapter 50: 22 The dice rolled to six

Chapter 50 22. The dice rolled six

The wild manticore's head slammed heavily against the village wall, causing it to shake and the wood to make a teeth-grinding sound.

The Druzi soldiers guarding the Reaper's ballista raised their weapons and cheered.

If you can lay siege, you might need two to four squads of Druzi soldiers to kill a wild manticore if you're lucky. Terrain like the city walls is just a hindrance, so no matter how many come, they'll be killed.

In mid-air, a dense group of harpies swooped down, the Reaper's crossbow switched to shotgun mode, and the Black Crossbowman's repeating crossbow and the Tamer's harpoon crossbow also began shooting.

Dacreus drew his bow and shot two arrows, accurately hitting the heads of the two harpies.

The shotgun-mode crossbow arrows swept across a large area, and the harpies fell like raindrops and crashed to the ground.

Several harpies broke through the dense anti-aircraft fire and began to attack the Druzi soldiers on the village wall. The Druzi soldiers were afraid of wild mantis lions, and the harpies had their own ways to deal with them.

The Dread Spearman will place the spear diagonally on the ground the moment the harpy pounces, half-bend the body, and place the shield horizontally. The harpy will usually be pierced directly onto the spear, and the Desolate Swordsman next to it will cooperate to cut off the harpy's claws and render it harmless.

Flannais and Ryan raised their shields in front of Dacius, blocking a harpy's dive. Dacius made a quick decision and drew out his Messer knife, cutting off the harpy's claws with one blow. The second blow cut her in half, and the harpy screamed and fell off the wall.

Only a few of the harpies escaped from this wave, some of them were missing arms and claws, and one harpy even took away a spear.

An hour passed and nothing happened.

The Druzy soldiers began to slack off, and for them the dusk tide of this year seemed to be over.

The dinosaur lying in the square began to doze off around the bonfire, wagging its tail in boredom.

Two hours later, the Druzy soldiers began to sit on the ground and rest under the orderly arrangement of the captain and centurion.

Dacus sat down and asked curiously, "Is it over?"

Franais still stood alert and said seriously, "My lord, it should be over."

Darkius shrugged boredly.

“It was anticlimactic.”

Another two hours passed, and Dacius was about to fall asleep.

Suddenly, Kalyon yelled, "Be on guard! There's something coming, a lot of it!"

Dacus perked up all of a sudden, tilted his head to reveal half of his face and looked around, but there was nothing in the woods.

“Closer!”

Dacius also heard the footsteps.

Morslieb was plump and full, looming in the air, having risen to its highest point, as if it was right in front of Daquus, as if he could touch it with just a stretch of his hand.

The group of beastmen rushed out of the forest like a tide, waving stone weapons in their hands and attacking the village wall in a disorderly manner.

The first one who rushed over jumped directly into the pit. The group of beastmen began to form a human wall to attack. One beastman finally climbed up and was hit on the head by Walter's leaf hammer. The beastman did not fall down or scream, but paused for a moment, as if he was a little dazed by the blow. Walter showed a surprised expression and swung another hammer at the place where he attacked before. Daxus clearly heard the sound of a broken bone, and the beastman fell down directly.

This kind of beastman completely exceeded Daxus's cognition. He always thought that beastmen were bipedal monsters like the sheep-headed monsters, centaurs or minotaurs in the Duncanwald Forest or Arden Forest in the Old World.

These beastmen seemed to have little intelligence. They had no long-range weapons or command, and they did not carry siege weapons such as ladders, or sandbags to fill the trenches.

These beastmen seemed quite clever. They only attacked one point on the wall, which was reachable by only four Reaper ballistae.

At this time, the big pit has been filled, and beastmen continue to pour out of the forest and begin to climb up the village wall in large numbers.

"Why didn't those harpies attack at the same time as the beastmen? Was there a disconnect between the ground and air coordination?"

Daxus had no chance to join the battle. The battlefield was so narrow that he couldn't squeeze in, and the Druzy gang wouldn't let him in either.

Facing this influx of experience-earning pets, Daxus didn't need to gain experience to level up. He could only draw his bow and shoot two arrows, which accurately hit the beastman's head. However, the beastman remained unmoved and continued to climb up the wall.

Despite the coordinated efforts of the Dread Spearmen and the Dark Swordsmen, the Beastmen charged forward in ever-increasing numbers. These Beastmen were incredibly powerful, and the Druki soldiers, unable to withstand their force, gradually pulled apart, shrinking the battlefield. Several Druki soldiers retreated, unresponsive and falling to the ground. They screamed in agony before dying.

Kallion decisively commanded the Reaper crossbow crew to set up the Reaper crossbow in the square and start firing at the village wall.

Edmund placed the five teams of soldiers watching the excitement on the other side of the village wall and the five teams of Druchi soldiers on standby in the barracks between the beastmen who jumped off the wall and the Reaper crossbows. He fired shotgun-mode crossbows, directly nailing to death the beastmen who had just climbed up the wall.

Alyssa released four burning amber spears in succession, slightly curbing the beastmen's offensive.

Edmund found Dacun and asked him to open the gate of the village so that the reserve troops could go out to encircle the beastmen and expand the width of the battlefield.

A crow suddenly landed on Dacus's shoulder and looked at him with its head tilted.

Daxus' heart skipped a beat, and he suddenly had a very bad premonition.

"It's too late. We are in trouble. Something big is coming." He pointed to the square.

A purple portal slowly appeared in the square inside the village.

A group of lustful demons rushed out.

Dakwus recognized this creature. Among Slaanesh's servants, succubi were the most numerous. They possessed a captivating charm, especially their long tongues, which could induce sleep. Though hideous in appearance, they could be transformed into something incredibly beautiful through the application of magic. Succubi glided lightly across the battlefield, their ornate tattoos a dazzling swirl of color. These strange creatures danced amidst the battle, their claws piercing armor and flesh, inflicting a deadly pleasure on their enemies.

We talked about the Tide of Dusk before. It’s just like rolling dice, but this time Dacius rolled six. This six has a double meaning. One is that there are a lot of beastmen tonight, and the other is that six is the sacred number of Slaanesh, the body of love and art.

"It's really six."
