“When will the war end?”
Utatane Koharu asked softly while using medical Ninjutsu to heal Danzo.
Her eyes were a bit dim; from birth to becoming a Ninja, this was her first time experiencing war.
The peaceful life of the past was gone forever…
To be honest, she really disliked this kind of life.
War only brought suffering and death.
In just a few days, many Konoha companions had lost their lives.
If she could, she hoped the war would end immediately.
That way, they could return to a peaceful life…
Renye lay on the ground, his arm as a pillow, gazing at the clear blue sky.
Hearing this, he turned his head to look at Utatane Koharu, “The war hasn’t even started yet; it won’t end for a long time.”
There were only two ways to end this war.
One was for Konoha to defeat the other Villages, causing them to surrender voluntarily.
The second was for Konoha Village to be defeated…
“Konoha will definitely win!” Danzo Shimura’s eyes were firm.
“Danzo is right, we will definitely win!” Utatane Koharu, shedding her previous despondency, clenched her fists excitedly.
Renye looked at the two passionate individuals, a slight smile on his lips, and murmured softly, “That’s more like it.”
During this time, the two of them were clearly not in the right state.
Perhaps being in a state of high alert for too long had led to mental confusion, leaving them completely listless.
This should be a chain reaction caused by experiencing war for the first time; it was best if they could adjust themselves.
“You two go on patrol first, I need to rest.” Renye stood up wearily and found a hidden spot to lie down.
He had barely rested these past few days, and his body was about to give out.
If he couldn’t get enough rest, it would be very dangerous in combat.
Renye fell asleep shortly after lying down.
Utatane Koharu and Danzo Shimura exchanged glances and continued patrolling the forest.
They knew Renye was tired; he had rested the least over the past few days.
It was unclear whether the enemies who had infiltrated the border had all been killed or if they were hiding.
During their daytime patrol, they didn’t see a single enemy, which significantly reduced their work pressure.
By the time Renye woke up, it was already afternoon.
He looked at the setting sun, shaking his head helplessly.
“These two really… didn’t even think to wake me up.”
There were twelve hours in the day, and each person could rest for four hours.
Renye had slept from morning until afternoon, and neither of them had woken him up.
This meant that Danzo and Koharu had sacrificed their own rest time to let Renye rest…
Sufficient sleep had alleviated Renye’s tired body.
As soon as he arrived at the team’s gathering spot, he saw Utatane Koharu approaching with a pile of wild fruits in her clothes.
“Renye-kun, you’re awake?”
“Quick, try these, I just found them.” Utatane Koharu took two of the largest wild fruits and handed them to Renye.
“Thank you.” Renye didn’t stand on ceremony, taking the wild fruits and eating them.
After eating soldier pills for several days, his mouth felt bland.
Although the wild fruits didn’t taste very good, both of them ate them with gusto.
“Where’s Danzo?” Renye asked.
Utatane Koharu handed Renye another wild fruit, “He’s patrolling to the east, he’ll be back soon.”
Renye nodded, taking the fruit and eating it.
Not long after, Danzo Shimura arrived at the gathering spot.
“Danzo, come eat some wild fruits!” Utatane Koharu said with a smile, pointing at the few wild fruits on the ground.
Seeing this, Danzo Shimura came and sat cross-legged in front of them.
Danzo looked at the three remaining wild fruits on the ground and unhesitatingly picked up two, handing them to the other two.
Utatane Koharu quickly waved her hand, explaining, “Danzo, Renye and I have already eaten, these are specially left for you.”
Danzo looked at them with suspicious eyes, clearly not entirely believing their explanation.
“We’ve eaten, you eat them yourself,” Renye said.
Only after receiving Renye’s affirmative reply did Danzo start eating.
“Don’t do this again in the future…” Renye said softly.
Danzo Shimura and Utatane Koharu were slightly startled, but quickly understood what he meant.
“Renye-kun, we didn’t encounter any enemies during the day, so we just wanted you to rest a bit longer,” Utatane Koharu said with a smile.
Danzo Shimura also nodded in agreement, “You’ve had the least rest these past few days, you really do need a good rest.”
If Renye truly wasn’t tired, he definitely wouldn’t have slept until the afternoon.
Renye fell silent upon hearing this.
Danzo and Koharu were genuinely thinking of him, and this feeling of being valued by companions was quite nice.
“I’ve rested enough today, it’ll be your turn tomorrow,” Renye said.
The two nodded, showing no intention of refusing.
Renye stood up, gripping the hilt of his Ninja blade with his right hand, “You two rest a bit longer, I’m going on patrol first.”
With that, Renye’s figure flickered and disappeared from the spot.
“Here.” Danzo tossed a wild fruit to Utatane Koharu.
“Eh?” Utatane Koharu subconsciously caught it, looking at the wild fruit in her hand, and asked confusedly, “Danzo, aren’t you eating it?”
Danzo stood up, brushed the dust off his clothes, and left without looking back, “It’s too sour, I don’t like it.”
Utatane Koharu watched Danzo’s retreating back with a smile, “So Danzo likes sweets.”
She carefully placed the wild fruit into her Ninja tool pouch, planning to eat it later with her soldier pills.
After doing all this, she walked in the opposite direction from the two of them and began her patrol.
Night was always full of dangers, requiring constant vigilance.
In a thicket, a Sand Ninja wearing a headscarf clenched his fist.
“Damn it, am I the only one left?!”
Originally, twelve Sand Ninja had successfully infiltrated this area of the Land of Fire, but in just a few days, all of them had lost contact.
No one had responded to the secret codes he had carved, which meant that all his companions were dead.
The death of all his companions filled this Sand Ninja with great fear.
It was important to know that this mission had been led by three Jonin, one of whom was a powerful puppet master!
Yet now, all of them were missing, and he didn’t need to think twice to know they were dead.
Even powerful Jonin had died, making him, a Chunin, even more terrified.
He was now in a dilemma; going deeper into the Land of Fire was definitely a dead end, but leaving the Land of Fire made him worried about encountering patrolling Konoha Ninja.
So he had been hiding in the thicket for days, not daring to show his face, fearing being discovered.
This Sand Ninja looked at the soldier pills in his Ninja tool pouch, and a sense of relief washed over him.
With ample supplies, he wouldn’t have to worry about survival for a while.
As long as he held out until the Konoha Ninja left, he would be safe.
Just as the Sand Ninja was fantasizing about the future, an emotionless voice sounded from behind him.
“Found you, little mouse.”
The Sand Ninja turned his head in terror, only to meet a pair of crimson eyes.
“It’s over!”
As this thought arose, his head separated from his body.
Renye sheathed his blade, curling his lip in disdain.
“Did you really think I wouldn’t find you just because you hid?”
