Chapter 170: Mouse

Inside the solution cave, fifty miles outside the Konoha Camp.

Renye's Three-Tomoe Sharingan glowed faintly red in the darkness, as a Kumogakure Special Jonin lay on a stone platform, his limbs tightly bound and unable to break free.

His mouth was taped shut, and his eyes stared in terror at the young man before him.

He had only gone to the restroom when he was suddenly knocked unconscious, and upon waking, found himself here.

“Woo woo woo—”

The Cloud Ninja tried to beg for mercy, but he couldn't speak at all.

Renye ignored him, turned to adjust the bottles and jars in front of him, and mumbled softly, “The medicine is still too strong… I hope it succeeds this time, otherwise I’ll have to go out and catch another guinea pig.”

Hearing this, the Cloud Ninja turned his head to look in Renye’s direction, and just one glance made his eyes widen instantly.

In the corner, several Cloud Ninja corpses were piled up, their deaths gruesome.

The expressions on the faces of these corpses were terrified, as if they had suffered inhuman torture before their deaths.

The Cloud Ninja watched the young man's busy back, his body trembling uncontrollably, seemingly understanding his own impending fate.

Renye took out a specially made bamboo tube from his Ninja tool pouch and poured the pale purple liquid into a ceramic pot in front of him, which contained the nerve-affecting powder he had developed.

As the liquid flowed into it, the powder began to emit an eerie glow.

“This time…” Renye’s eyes flickered, staring intently at the powder in the pot, “it should have succeeded, right?”

He carefully lifted the pot and approached the Cloud Ninja, then used his gloved hand to scoop up a handful of powder.

“Woo woo woo—” Seeing this, the Cloud Ninja immediately had a bad premonition and began to struggle desperately.

However, his limbs were tightly bound, and no matter how much he struggled, it was futile.

“Don’t be nervous, it’s just a small experiment, there’s no danger to your life,” Renye comforted softly.

As he spoke, he smeared his powder-covered hand onto the Cloud Ninja’s face.

Upon hearing this, the Cloud Ninja subconsciously glanced at the corpses of his companions not far away, and his already terrified expression became even more horrified.

What the hell do you mean, no danger!

If there’s no danger, then what’s with those corpses in the corner?!

Unfortunately, his mouth was sealed, otherwise he would definitely have complained loudly.

Feeling the powder on his face, the Cloud Ninja closed his eyes in despair.

My life is over!

The imagined pain did not come, and he opened his eyes in surprise.

Renye smiled slightly, and said softly, “I told you there’s no danger.”

However, that smile was very creepy in his eyes…

“I’m going to ask you a few questions now; I’ll let you go once you’ve answered them,” Renye said, tearing off the tape from his mouth.

“You… will you really let me go?!”

“First question, what changes do you feel in your body right now?” Renye did not answer his question, but asked instead.

The Cloud Ninja felt that the young man in front of him would most likely not let him go, but for the sake of his last hope, he still decided to try…

What if he really kept his word and let him go?

“I don’t feel any changes in my body.”

“No changes?” Renye frowned slightly, falling into contemplation.

According to his design, as long as the powder touched the body, the nervous system would temporarily suffer varying degrees of damage, with the severity depending on the amount of powder applied.

And damage to the nervous system would affect the flow of Chakra.

This was a poison specifically designed to deal with Taijutsu Ninja…

It was clearly unrealistic to develop a Chakra-eroding poison in a short amount of time.

Renye could only settle for the next best thing, developing a poison that damaged the nervous system.

Logically, if he was affected by the powder, his body should show changes.

Could it be… that his research had failed again?

He grabbed another handful of powder and sprinkled it on the Cloud Ninja's face, observing his reaction.

“Cough cough cough, what exactly do you want to do?!” The Cloud Ninja choked on the powder and coughed, inhaling a large amount of it through breathing.

The powder could penetrate the body through the pores and take effect without needing to be inhaled through the mouth or nose.

Of course, inhaling it directly would have a better effect!

Renye watched for a long time but found no problems, sighing helplessly,

“Failed again…”

To ensure the accuracy of the experiment, these “guinea pigs” who had participated in the experiment no longer had value for continued research.

After all, who knew if the inhaled powder would affect the next research?

The Cloud Ninja sensed danger and said with a trembling voice, “I… I’ve answered, can… can I leave now?”

Renye took off his gloves and smiled, “Of course, I’ll send you off right now.”

He picked up the innocence from the table and, under the Cloud Ninja's terrified gaze, swiftly dealt with him with a single cut.

Renye stared at the bleeding corpse on the stone platform, muttering softly, “I need to go catch another batch of ‘guinea pigs’ for experiments again.”

Saying that, he changed into a black combat uniform and left the solution cave.

… … … … … … … …

Night, Cloud Ninja Camp.

“Damn it, why is it us two on patrol again today?” a Cloud Ninja muttered discontentedly.

“Don’t even mention it, who told us to offend the captain before?” another Cloud Ninja sighed, “Let’s just patrol properly.”

The two had offended the captain before, and then he had made things difficult for them.

“Tsk, this is the main camp, what fearless guy would dare to break in?”

“You’re right, we’ll rest after this round of patrol.”

Just then, a rustling sound suddenly came from the bushes ahead.

“Who?!” Both of them subconsciously tightened their grip on their kunai and cautiously walked forward to check.

As they pushed aside the bushes, an owl flew out.

“Haha, so it’s just an owl.” Both of them breathed a sigh of relief.

As they turned to continue their patrol, they saw a pair of crimson eyes, exceptionally conspicuous in the darkness.

The moment their eyes met, both of them fell into a daze.

Renye stepped forward and used a hand chop to knock both of them unconscious, then dragged them away from the scene.

… … … … … … … …

The next day, the Kumogakure Commander’s tent.

“Bastard! Where have all the patrolling Ninja gone?!” The Long-haired Strong Man slammed his fist on the desk in front of him, roaring at the adjutant.

In just one day, several Cloud Ninja had mysteriously disappeared, including two Ninja responsible for patrolling the camp.

This meant the culprit had infiltrated the camp to act!

The adjutant kept his head down, not daring to speak, to avoid offending the Commander.

He served as the logistics captain within the camp, usually responsible for executing the Commander's orders and arranging personnel for patrols.

“Strengthen patrols during this period; if anyone else goes missing, I’ll send you, the adjutant, to the front lines to kill the enemy first!” the Long-haired Strong Man said coldly.

“Understood, Commander!” The adjutant trembled and quickly agreed.

The Long-haired Strong Man clenched his fists in anger, electric arcs flickering on his hands.

“You damn guy, I will never let you go!”
