Chapter 4: A little fox

Returning to the room, Han Feng lit the candle, looked at his hands, but found that there wasn't even a trace of blood on them.

He picked up the cold ice dagger again and looked, and there was no blood either.

Out of curiosity, Han Feng took the lamp stand and went outside to check the ground where Ma Laoda had just died, and was surprised to find that there was no blood either.

He had originally planned to get some loess to cover the bloodstains, but now it seemed unnecessary.

Returning to the room, he thought about it and felt that it must have been the freezing power within the cold ice dagger that froze the blood at the wound when it pierced Ma Laoda's body, preventing blood from flowing out.

It seemed this dagger was quite good, at least it killed without shedding blood.

Han Feng put down the oil lamp, lay down on the bed, and began to ponder.

Because killing Ma Laoda just now used a bit of spirit energy, Han Feng now felt that he could absorb external spirit energy to replenish the void just consumed.

While absorbing spirit energy, he pondered. Currently, because of Jiang Surou's matter, he had completely offended Ye Longyuan.

Ye Longyuan wasn't scary, just a small Cultivator at Cultivation Level Eight, but the Family behind him was large and had Core Formation stage experts.

Ye Longyuan had already sent Ma Laoda, and since Ma Laoda failed to kill him, he would definitely send others to trouble him in the future.

Han Feng was now facing a crisis.

But...

What else could he do?

Work hard?

Stop kidding, no matter how hard he worked, he couldn't break through his cultivation. If Jiang Surou didn't break through, he couldn't break through either.

Help Jiang Surou break through? Forget it, he was so poor he only had a dagger left. What help could he be?

So...

Just keep lying flat then, grow some flowers, bask in the sun, enjoy the little life.

Han Feng lay very flat, but his mind was still thinking.

Now that Ma Laoda was dead, what if someone really came looking? Although the body was buried, he heard that Foundation Establishment stage experts could use Divine Sense to scan and see everything within several hundred meters, above and below ground.

Buried in his own herb garden, even a fool could guess that he killed him. It seemed it still needed to be dealt with. He should dig it up again and throw it farther away.

As for whether Ye Longyuan would take the opportunity to accuse Han Feng of killing him, that was a joke. How would you, Ye Longyuan, know that Ma Laoda was going to kill Han Feng and then was killed by Han Feng in return? Did you instigate it? Don't talk nonsense if you don't have evidence.

Do you really think the Sect's Law Enforcement Elders are useless?

Han Feng stood up, put on his shoes, picked up the shovel and lamp stand, and walked outside.

He went out the door, turned around and came to the edge of the herb garden. Under the moonlight, Han Feng stood rooted to the spot.

He saw that there was an extra pit on the ground, and faint rustling sounds came from within.

Was it discovered so quickly?

Han Feng held the shovel, tiptoed over, and looked down into the pit. The scene before him made his hair stand on end.

He saw an unknown white animal squatting on Ma Laoda's body, busy with its head down.

What kind of animal is this, eating a corpse?

Han Feng watched for a while before realizing that it was a white Little Fox. It wasn't eating the corpse, but absorbing the remaining spirit energy within the corpse.

After a moment, the Little Fox finished absorbing all the spirit energy, lifted her little face, and let out a satisfied burp.

One person and one fox, after their eyes met, the Little Fox was startled and immediately bristled all over.

She raised her head, bared her fangs, her eyes flickering with green light, staring fiercely at Han Feng.

At the same time, above the large pit, in mid-air, a huge, blurry figure faintly emerged. The phantom was the size of a small mountain, resembling a fox, with blood-red, cruel eyes. Her pupils were like the starry sky, containing a vast sea of stars. Nine massive fox tails gently swayed behind her, seemingly containing world-destroying energy.

Unfortunately, at this moment, Han Feng was looking down and didn't see the scene above his head. The phantom disappeared half a second after it appeared.

Surprisingly, despite such a large phantom and such terrifying power, not a single expert within the entire Yin Yang Sect detected it.

"Are you... a Spirit Beast that ran out from Spirit Beast Peak?"

Han Feng asked curiously.

"No, I'm wild."

Seeing that Han Feng showed no hostility, the Little Fox also put away her fierce expression and answered very seriously.

"Then what are you doing here?"

"I'm hungry."

The Little Fox jumped out of the pit, squatted by the edge of the soil, and blinked her round eyes as she looked at Han Feng.

"Aren't you afraid of me?"

"Aren't you afraid of me?"

The person and the fox asked in unison.

"Why should I be afraid of you?"

Han Feng asked curiously.

"But I'm a Spirit Beast that can talk."

"So... so what?"

Odd Job Disciple Han Feng didn't know what it meant for a Spirit Beast to be able to talk.

Han Feng asked again,

"Then why aren't you afraid of me? I have a shovel in my hand, I can kill you with one hit."

"You don't have any killing intent or malice towards me. I can sense other people's threats and malice; the stronger the malice, the more sensitive I am, but you don't have any.

Other humans see me and want to kill me for my meat, or capture me and sign a master-servant contract, but you don't, so I'm not afraid of you."

The Little Fox's voice was like a child's, soft and gentle.

Han Feng smiled upon hearing this,

"You're quite interesting. Are you full?"

"No."

"I saw you were just eating spirit energy. Do you feed on spirit energy?"

"Yes, but absorbing the spirit energy of heaven and earth is very slow, that's why I came to absorb it from freshly dead corpses."

Seeing the Little Fox looked a bit pitiful, Han Feng took out one of his Spirit Stones and handed it to the Little Fox.

Seeing this, the Little Fox quickly took it, opened her little mouth, and crunched it up before swallowing it into her belly.

This scene completely stunned Han Feng.

This was a Spirit Stone, something harder than even spirit artifacts. It was said that even Nascent Soul stage old monsters couldn't easily destroy it.

The Little Fox just chewed it up like that? Were her teeth that good?

"Are you full?"

"No, can you give me another one?"

Han Feng took out another Spirit Stone and handed it to the Little Fox.

He had obtained twenty Spirit Stones today, but they weren't very useful to him.

The Little Fox took the Spirit Stone, didn't eat it, but put it behind her. Immediately after, she let out a satisfied burp.

She looked at Han Feng's suspicious gaze, then guiltily turned her head away and explained,

"I was afraid if I got hungry again, you wouldn't give me any more."

Han Feng didn't say much. Being nice to this Little Fox was just because he felt a connection.

He looked down at the corpse in the pit, sighed, and said,

"You're happy eating and taking, but what am I going to do with this corpse? It's covered in bloodstains from your digging. If I carry it away, it'll probably leave a trail of blood."

The Little Fox looked at the corpse, then at Han Feng. After hesitating for a moment, she took a deep, effortful breath and then exhaled a stream of white energy.

The white energy landed on the corpse, and the corpse melted at a speed visible to the naked eye, finally turning into a small red ball.

The Little Fox jumped into the pit, picked up the small ball, and handed it to Han Feng.

"This is this person's blood essence. Eat it, it will help your cultivation."

Han Feng took the small ball. As soon as he thought that it was all Ma Laoda's flesh and blood inside, he felt nauseous.

Moreover, he had a constitution that couldn't Cultivate, so eating it was useless. He casually threw it on the ground.

The small ball rolled under an herb, then transformed into specks of energy and was absorbed by the herb.

Han Feng didn't see it.

He picked up the shovel, filled the pit again, and replanted the herbs.

Now it was done. No one would be able to find it.

After finishing this, Han Feng walked back with the shovel, and the Little Fox said,

"Okay, the trouble is solved. Let's go rest."
