There were some fishing enthusiasts sitting scattered around the reservoir, including city dwellers with full equipment and villagers with simple fishing rods using a bamboo pole with a fish hook hung on it.
Regardless of the equipment, everyone seems to be quite serious.
Ling Xue and Liao Er walked around the reservoir and watched them fishing.
Liao Er felt a little regretful when he saw the happy faces of the anglers who had caught something. He whispered to Ling Xue, "What a pity we didn't bring our fishing rods. Otherwise, we could have gone out and fished for a while."
Ling Xue chuckled and comforted Liao Er: "What's the pity? We can come again next time. We have a car, so it's very convenient."
Liao Er then put away his regretful expression, "That's right, we have a deal. You tell your aunt, otherwise I will get beaten."
"Auntie is so strict with you?" Ling Xue was a little unconvinced.
Liao Er shook his head and said, "That's not the case, but I've been purchasing supplies recently, so I have less time."
Ling Xue nodded to show that she understood, but she didn't think Liao Er would not have time to come fishing, because the supplies they had purchased were almost complete, and the remaining small bits and pieces could be taken care of slowly.
While the two were chatting, an old man from the village not far away had a harvest.
"Hulala--" With a loud sound of water, the old man pulled out a three-pound grass carp from the water.
Ling Xue and Liao Er were no longer interested in chatting, so they went forward together to watch the fun.
A fishing enthusiast not far away also put down his fishing rod and came over to watch the fun. This guy looked to be in his fifties or sixties and looked like a retired cadre.
He was jealous of the old man's gains and said to him with a bit of jealousy: "Hey, brother, you can get so much with such simple equipment. Do you have any tricks? Tell me!"
The old man looked at him proudly, and deftly took the fish off and put it into the plastic bucket next to him.
"There's no trick. You've been fishing your whole life, and you still don't have some experience!"
As soon as the old man opened his mouth, the retired cadre knew there was no hope, but he didn't say he was giving up.
"Impossible, the bait must be good."
He looked at the three catches in the bucket with envy, and thought to himself, "You won't tell me the secret, I will find it for you sooner or later."
The retired cadre walked to his seat angrily, hoping to catch a fish today, otherwise his wife would laugh at his poor skills when he got home!
Liao Er came over and started chatting with the old man: "Uncle Shi, did you have a good harvest today?"
The old man put on the bait and looked up. It was the villagers he knew. He raised his eyebrows and said to the two people, "It's you, come to watch the fun?"
Liao Er smiled and replied, "No, we were just out for a stroll and happened to walk here. We want to go to the back mountain to take a look later!"
Ling Xue also stepped forward to greet him: "Hello, Uncle Shi!"
Uncle Shi nodded to Ling Xue and continued to say to the two of them:
"You youngsters are just bored and want to go to the back mountain to catch rabbits?" Grandpa Shi looked at the two men's empty hands and shook his head, thinking that they would not get anything.
Liao Er waved his hand and said to Uncle Shi, "No, we're just here to hang out today. We don't plan to do anything like this. Let's come back in a couple of days when we have something to do."
Seeing Liao Er chattering non-stop, Uncle Shi started to chase him away: "Hurry up and leave! Don't delay my fishing trip."
"Goodbye, Uncle Shi!"
"Goodbye, Uncle Shi!"
The two were not angry when they were chased away by Uncle Shi. They left laughing.
