Chapter 139: Driving without a license

After lunch, a few people prepared to go to the market.

Uncle Zhuang's three-wheeled motorcycle runs on gasoline. He runs a moving business, and there's a moving company sign and phone number on the motorcycle.

As an experienced mecha driver, Li Chunhua was naturally comfortable with motorcycles. Once he got used to the throttle and clutch, he was able to drive smoothly.

Even Song Ren had never experienced sitting in a tricycle, wrapped in a blanket and going to the market. Neither had Gao Fei or Ji Yu.

But after seeing the large floral quilt, they silently gave both quilts to Lin Fan: one mattress, one quilt.

As a man, what's wrong with blowing the wind?

After getting ready and saying goodbye to the Li family, the four of them got into the truck and, driven at lightning speed by Li Chunhua, arrived at the next town.

Maybe it was because the sun was strong at noon and there was not much wind, so the few people felt okay. It was not even as cold as last night when the three-wheeled motorcycle was cold.

Lin Fan wrapped himself tightly in the floral quilt without any scruples.

Not far from Shangtang Town, the road became unbearable. Li Chunhua pulled over to the side of the road, covered the quilt with straw, and continued on foot with the others.

Not far away, we saw a bustling crowd of people and a dense network of vendors hawking their wares. The cheerful atmosphere was completely different from the deserted shopping malls and neat supermarkets, full of the flavor of life.

Several people were attracted by the excitement and started shopping with great interest.

"Come on, come on, write the couplets and the Chinese character for blessing on the spot..."

"Come here and look, the diamond kitchen knife can cut bones and meat with ease..."

"This needle threading magic tool allows a 90-year-old woman to thread a needle easily. You can thread the needle without asking for help..."

"Clean the glass with just a pinch and a pinch. No need to risk climbing through the window. Safe and worry-free..."

"The boss ran away. Last day. Two dollars. Two dollars for everyone..."

Several of them hadn't been to the market for many years. They looked at each store patiently. After an hour or so, they all had something in their hands.

"Li Chunhua, does your father like to drink?" Lin Fan asked Li Chunhua when he saw a tobacco shop.

"It's okay, he's not picky." Li Chunhua finished her reply and quickly stopped Lin Fan as he saw him heading towards the tobacco shop. "What do you want to do? You don't have to buy anything for my dad."

"I'm not buying it for you, Brother Li, please don't stop me." Gao Fei pulled Li Chunhua.

Although no one said it, everyone had a consensus.

You can't go to someone's house empty-handed when you visit them. I was in such a hurry yesterday that I didn't think about it. Now that I'm at the market today, I have to make up for it with a gift.

They would buy it even if Lin Fan didn't.

"Oh, there's really no need." Li Chunhua wanted to stop him, but after being glanced at by Song Ren, she didn't dare to do it.

"This is basic etiquette. Do you think we are being rude?" Song Ren said to Li Chunhua, "Besides, all the food and drinks at your house are paid for by your parents. How can we add to the burden on them? We have to prepare gifts not only at your house, but also at other people's houses."

Li Chunhua thought so too.

If he went to Gao Fei's house the next day without bringing any gifts and just ate and drank, he would definitely feel uncomfortable, so he stopped trying to stop everyone.

I bought some good wine for Li Dad. I didn't buy any cigarettes because Shi Miao was pregnant and Li Dad had already quit smoking.

She bought useful pots and pans, knives, and other practical products for Li Ma. Li Chunhua still remembered that Lin Fan couldn't touch sharp objects, so she snatched the knife box and stayed away from her.

I bought Shi Miao a beautiful hat, clothes and bag.

Li Chunhua insisted on pink, but Lin Fan ignored her and chose the beige color that Miaomiao had worn last night.

The group ate and shopped, and gained a lot. They were in good physical condition and walked around the market from beginning to end, and they didn't feel tired even when it was getting dark.

But if I don’t go back, my family will worry.

The empty truck bed was now filled with all sorts of stuff. Lin Fan was still curled up on the mat wrapped in her floral quilt, with the others huddled next to her.

The temperature in the evening was obviously much lower than at noon, and there was a bit of wind, so everyone felt a little cold.

But even so, they didn't want to wear the flowery quilt. Anyway, it would only take about 20 minutes to get home, so they could just bear it.

Just as I was thinking this, the tricycle stopped.

"What's wrong?" Song Ren turned around and asked.

"There is a traffic police ahead." As soon as Li Chunhua saw the traffic police checking the car, he stepped on the brakes from a distance.

"What's wrong with the traffic police checking the car?" Lin Fan didn't understand why they had to stop.

"I don't have a driver's license..." Li Chunhua turned around and said to everyone in the truck in a trembling voice.

...Everyone was speechless.

"That's not right. Can't you drive anything? How come you don't have a driver's license?" Lin Fan still remembered Li Chunhua saying that they could even drive tanks and armored vehicles.

"We all have military driver's licenses, which can't be used outside." Ji Yu explained.

"Can't the military driver's license be used? It can drive a tank but not a tricycle?" Lin Fan never knew there was such a difference in driver's licenses.

"We are active personnel and have the need to drive within the department, so we must hold a red driver's license. This driver's license limits the type of driving and must be military-use equipment. If you want to drive a civilian vehicle, you must hold a black driver's license. You need to take the red book to the local area to apply." Song Ren said.

"I remember you have a civilian driver's license, Boss." Li Chunhua looked at Song Ren hopefully.

"I have one, but it's an A1 driver's license." Song Ren got this license when he was frequently on missions outside.

If you have been serving in the army for a long time, you will not need to renew your license unless you have special needs, as there are not many holidays. Usually you will only renew your license after you retire.

"Can't A1 be used to drive any car?" Lin Fan remembered that the highest level of driver's license was A1.

"A three-wheeled vehicle license requires a separate test. It's not included in A1," Ji Yu added. He and Gao Fei both had airplane licenses, but they still couldn't legally drive a three-wheeled vehicle.

"Why are there traffic police checkpoints on such a small country road?" Gao Fei was depressed.

This kind of road is made of dirt, a two-lane road without even asphalt. There are fields on both sides. It takes half an hour to reach a village. It is so deserted. Why are there traffic police?

Normally, motorcycle licenses aren't strictly checked in towns and villages. As long as you know how to drive and haven't gotten into any accidents, the traffic police won't come to your village to check if you have a license.

Uncle Zhuang’s tricycle was licensed because he was doing business, but the driver did not have a license.

"You knew there was a market, so you were waiting on the road." Li Chunhua said dejectedly.

"What should we do then?" Gao Fei frowned.

"If it really doesn't work, just let him deduct it and impose punishment within the military. It's just a little embarrassing." Li Chunhua also accepted his fate.

"What kind of license do I need to drive a three-wheeled motorcycle?" Lin Fan hesitated under the quilt and took out his driver's license from the inner pocket of his cotton-padded jacket.

"D license, a special three-wheeled motorcycle license. You can drive a three-wheeled motorcycle, a two-wheeled motorcycle, and a light motorcycle." Ji Yu said absentmindedly.

Lin Fan looked down at something and held the object in his hand in front of him. "Is this it?"

Ji Yu took a closer look. "How did you get a D license?"

Several people hurried over, even Li Chunhua got out of the car and leaned over to watch.

"I took the exam when I was young." Lin Fan remembered that he seemed to have taken this exam, but he was not sure, after all, many years had passed.

Seeing that everyone was really at a loss, I took it out to see if I remembered it correctly.

When they looked at the date on the driver's license, they found it was from 8 years ago.

"Why did you take the three-wheeled vehicle license test?" Li Chunhua asked curiously, her nerves calming down. "Don't most people just take the two-wheeled vehicle license test? And you're a woman."

He didn't mean to look down on women, but those who took the three-wheeled motorcycle license test were generally used to transport goods. It was indeed rare for women to take the three-wheeled motorcycle license test, and that was many years ago.

"It's cheap, isn't it?" Lin Fan thought for a moment. "I think it was only 50 yuan at the time. I took the test in between my C-class license exam."

Thanks to that incident, several people laughed. With a license, you don't have to worry about the traffic police.

Lin Fan slowly climbed out of the car and sat in the driver's seat. Li Chunhua climbed into the truck bed, and the group waited for Lin Fan to start the car.

As a result, half a day passed and there was no movement.

As the sky grew darker, the traffic police noticed that they had been motionless for a long time and walked towards them.

Lin Fan's voice suddenly came from the front: "How do I start it?"

Haha, the motorcycle thing is because I recently got my D license, so I added it. But I've been wanting to take it since April, and I already wrote it into my outline in July. So it wasn't a last-minute addition. I checked Baidu, and it turns out you can't drive a civilian car without applying for a black license locally. Um, drive safely. Voting.
