Chapter 50: Documents

Lin Fan no longer cared about what others thought, but she couldn't stand the three people staring at her without blinking, so she faced them with her head, motionless.

Jin Sichen quickly realized something was wrong, and naturally turned around, took a cup of soy milk and a bun and started eating.

Song Ren also followed his example, took a bowl of porridge, tore the fried dough sticks into pieces, soaked them in the porridge, and poked them down with chopsticks.

Li Chunhua was smart to begin with. Seeing that the two bosses were eating naturally, as if they didn't see Lin Fan at all, she didn't need anyone to remind her. She grabbed a bun and stuffed it into her mouth, not forgetting to pass the soy milk straw to Jin Sichen.

Jin Sichen took the pipe and thanked him. He looked at Song Ren curiously as he poked the fried dough sticks into the porridge and asked, "Captain Song, how do you eat this? Aren't fried dough sticks a good companion to soy milk?"

"We ate like this at home when I was a child, so I'm used to it." Song Ren smiled.

"Where is Captain Song from?" Jin Sichen started chatting.

Song Ren didn't have the habit of not talking about food, so he replied, "HLJ, from Harbin."

"That's really cold. It must be dozens of degrees below zero in winter, right?" Jin Sichen had never been there, and his only impression was of ice and snow.

"It's a bit cold outside, but we have heating, so it's warm inside. When people in the south wear cotton-padded jackets in winter, we people in the north wear short sleeves indoors." Song Ren had been to the south and knew that the winter there was no better than the north where temperatures were dozens of degrees below zero.

Not only is it equally cold inside and outside, but the cold air also carries moisture that penetrates deep into people's bones. Even if the air conditioner is turned on, the feeling is much worse than the heating in the north.

Li Chunhua was eating buns, looking at this and that, attracted by the conversation between the two. When she took the buns again, she found that Lin Fan raised his head and touched the soy milk on the table with his hand.

The men chatting on both sides acted as if they hadn't noticed and continued eating and talking about their own things. After he finished taking the buns, he also took a cup of soy milk for some unknown reason.

Hey? He doesn't like soy milk!

It’s not easy to put it back, so just drink it.

Li Chunhua went to get the straw again, but then realized that Lin Fan didn't seem to have taken the straw. She took a quick look and found that she was tearing the plastic cover of the soy milk cup, as if she wanted to open the cup.

But the plastic was obviously sealed very tightly, and she couldn't tear it open no matter how many times she tried.

Jin Sichen and Song Ren kept their eyes on Lin Fan, but they didn't show it. Seeing that Lin Fan was in trouble, Jin Sichen asked, "What's wrong, Lin Fan? Do you want to open this? Do you want me to help you?"

Don't ask why, just ask if you need help.

Lin Fan tried a few times and knew that he couldn't open it on his own. When he heard Jin Sichen's question, he didn't hesitate and pushed the soy milk towards him.

Jin Sichen smiled from the bottom of his heart. He reached over to pick up the soy milk and tore it a few times, but because the edge of the plastic wrapper was too small, he couldn't open it.

"Let me do it." Song Ren said, and seeing that Lin Fan had no objection, he took the soy milk from Jin Sichen.

He took a pair of disposable chopsticks from the table, opened them, and used the pointed end of one to diagonally poke a large hole in the plastic wrapper around the edge of the cup. Then, he used the chopsticks to pinch the raised plastic wrapper around the hole and pulled hard, lifting the entire plastic wrapper.

During the whole process, the soy milk did not shake at all and did not get on the plastic.

"Here!" Song Ren handed the soy milk to Lin Fan, and began to unwrap the second fried dough stick as if nothing had happened.

Jin Sichen was a little annoyed. He had thought of it, hadn't he? He just didn't have time.

Lin Fan got the unsealed soy milk and took a fried dough stick, tearing it into small pieces and throwing it into the soy milk. However, the cup was too small, so it was full after just a few pieces.

"It's not easy to make it with a cup, you need a bowl." Li Chunhua had been secretly glancing at her, and when she saw that the fried dough sticks were piled up outside the cup, she hurriedly said.

"Are there any bowls here?" Jin Sichen turned around and looked at the kitchen counter, but of course he saw nothing.

Song Ren's porridge was almost gone. Without saying a word, he took a new bowl of porridge, opened the lid and poured it into his own bowl, then placed the empty bowl in front of Lin Fan.

This guy... is really quick!

Jin Sichen drank some soy milk and suppressed his unhappiness.

Lin Fan looked at the disposable bowl with almost no soup left, then looked at the full soy milk cup and the half-eaten fried dough stick in his hand, and decided to change the bowl.

When she heard Song Ren's words, she suddenly remembered that she often ate fried dough sticks soaked in soy milk when she was a child. She only thought that the fried dough sticks and soy milk were ready, and forgot that the cup capacity was too small to operate.

Since she already had a bowl, she didn't want to dwell on it. It was just breakfast, why bother overthinking it so much?

Lin Fan rinsed the bowl, then carefully poured the contents of the cup into it. He then tore the remaining dough sticks into small pieces and put them in. He took a pair of disposable chopsticks and poked the dough sticks into the soy milk bit by bit, pressing them repeatedly to prevent them from floating up.

I waited until the dough sticks were fully soaked in soy milk before I picked them up one by one and put them into my mouth. The dough sticks were soft, oily and full of sweet soy milk, just like the taste in my memory.

Jin Sichen accompanied Lin Fan and ate slowly.

After Song Ren finished two bowls of porridge and two fried dough sticks, he also ate two buns.

Li Chunhua ate several buns with soy milk and drank a bowl of porridge.

After Lin Fan finished eating the food in his bowl and put down his chopsticks, Jin Sichen also finished the last bite of the bun.

"Lin Fan, is this enough for you? Do you want to eat some more?" After John Woo left, it was basically Jin Sichen's turn to ask questions.

Lin Fan shook his head, and Jin Sichen didn't force him. He had already eaten three buns and a cup of soy milk, which wasn't much, but he wasn't starving either.

After all, it was already past 9 o'clock and lunch would be coming soon. So he said to Song Ren and Li Chunhua, "I'm done eating too, you guys take your time."

There was a fried dough stick, a bowl of porridge, and a cup of soy milk left on the table. Li Chunhua pushed the porridge over while Song Ren finished the last fried dough stick. There was still a cup of soy milk left, which he could put aside and drink anytime.

Lin Fan waited until everyone had finished eating and was cleaning up the trash before he stood up, staggered over to a chair on the terrace, sat down, and began to look at the scenery.

Song Ren asked Li Chunhua to go get some things first. The office building had already opened for business after 9 o'clock. In addition to the documents, he also wanted to get some clothes and bedding for Lin Fan, and some more dishes and cutlery.

Li Chunhua didn't say anything, just took a piece of paper to wipe her mouth and hands and left, leaving Song Ren alone to clean up.

There wasn't much stuff in the first place, and Song Ren could handle it all by himself, so Jin Sichen didn't ask for help. He went to the terrace and sat with Lin Fan to enjoy the scenery.

After Song Ren finished cleaning up the garbage, he looked back at the two people sitting outside motionless, not saying a word. Not knowing what was going on, he could only walk to the nearest sofa and sit down.

The environment of the villa area is really nice.

Looking out from the terrace, you can see a sea of green, birds singing and flowers blooming, and every breath is filled with the fragrance of plants.

The summer sun was obscured by the towering treetops, with only a few rays filtering through the gaps between the branches. Looking up, I could see a dome of green leaves swaying in the breeze. Some unidentified bird chirped, its voices rising and falling, sometimes near and sometimes far away...

Lin Fan felt relaxed and happy, his whole body felt lazy, and he didn't want to move a finger.

Jin Sichen took a few glances at the scenery and then turned his attention to Lin Fan. Seeing that she was relaxed and did not show any obvious discomfort with the unfamiliar environment, he felt relieved.

He had noticed the day before that Lin Fan would be more comfortable in a natural environment, and the dormitory arrangement was simply perfect. Judging from the accommodation conditions, the 800 people really valued Lin Fan.

More than half an hour later, Li Chunhua came back.

He placed the pile of things in his hand on the dining table and said to Song Ren, "I met Team Leader Yu in the office building elevator. He asked me to ask Lin Fan and Doctor Jin if they had any requirements for the decoration of their rooms."

The office space at 623 is currently under renovation, and as the project leader, Yu Guangli must keep an eye on the progress. While the layout of the building remains unchanged, the interior details require further adjustments.

After much deliberation, he decided to ask Lin Fan's lounge and Jin Sichen's studio what they thought and see which layout would suit their taste.

It happened that Li Chunhua went to the Security Department on the 3rd floor to get something, and the two met in the elevator. Yu Guangli simply asked Li Chunhua to convey the message to save him from making another trip. After all, he had a lot of things to do.

Jin Sichen took the house structure diagram and turned to ask Lin Fan if he had any ideas.

Lin Fan shook her head. She couldn't bear to worry about that.

Jin Sichen said to Song Ren, "Then I'll take care of it. I'll make a list later, no later than 3 p.m., and then Captain Song, please pass it on to Team Leader Yu."

"Okay, just write it. We can send it over anytime." Song Ren agreed. He stood up and walked to the table, pulling out two small boxes from his bag. "Doctor Jin, Lin Fan, your documents have arrived."

"Oh?" Jin Sichen was intrigued. Having the ID meant he had a certain level of access to the 800 Research Institute, which was much more convenient than needing Song Ren's help to open a door. "Lin Fan, let's go take a look together?"

When Lin Fan heard Jin Sichen calling her, she looked at him slowly and saw that he was looking at her with a smile on his face, which was no longer that professional fake smile. She hesitated for a moment and stood up from the chair.

When Song Ren saw Jin Sichen and Lin Fan coming in from the terrace, he did not go over and put the small box in his hand back on the table.

"Let me see what my ID looks like?" Jin Sichen smiled and picked up a box. "This little box is made to look like a ring box."

The white octagonal leather box opens from top to bottom. There is a small diamond inlaid in alloy in the center of the front base to indicate the opening direction. It really looks like a ring box.

Jin Sichen took a closer look in the light. He didn't know what the alloy was made of, but the diamond was a real diamond, although it was not big. But it was just a box for documents.

800 is really rich!

Opening the box, a golden round badge lay quietly inside. It was unclear what material it was made of, but its color was a lighter, brighter gold than gold. There was a raised edge, and a round, planet-shaped pattern in the center recessed area.

The surface of the planet has some bumpy textures, dotted with three small blue gems. In the lower left corner, there are two circles of star rings decorated with fine sapphires obliquely surrounding the planet, and there is a small flame-shaped tail in the upper right corner of the outside.

Jin Sichen took the badge out of the box and discovered it wasn't a flat sheet, but rather had a certain thickness. It wasn't too heavy, nor too light, and felt quite comfortable in his hand.

The back has a downward buckle with a fixed buckle, and the craftsmanship is also exquisite. If you didn't tell me, I would have thought it was a brooch.

It's just a certificate, why make it look like jewelry? Jin Sichen couldn't help but complain.

Are all the people doing scientific research so rich now?!
