Chapter 53: Poor physical fitness

The boulevard was relatively cool at noon, without any sun exposure and with occasional gusts of wind. The group of four had a very pleasant walk.

Jin Sichen walked in front, Lin Fan lagged behind him half a step, Song Ren and Li Chunhua followed behind Lin Fan, keeping a safe distance.

The forest path was deserted, yet Lin Fan felt extremely comfortable. She preferred the quietness of a deserted environment. She walked slowly, and Jin Sichen matched her pace, walking slowly. Neither of them spoke.

After walking over 300 meters, Song Ren noticed that Lin Fan's breathing had begun to increase and her pace had slowed. At over 400 meters, her breathing became rapid and her steps noticeably dragged. Before 500 meters, she was already panting.

"Lin Fan!" Song Ren called out, "Let's stop here for today and go back."

Jin Sichen turned around and noticed that she was breathing rapidly. She hadn't expected Lin Fan to be so exhausted after just a few hundred meters.

"Are you okay?" Jin Sichen asked worriedly.

Lin Fan didn't want to do anything extra; she was too tired. Why did she want to go out for a walk? Wouldn't it be better to sleep in her room?

"She's fine, she just can't keep up physically." Song Ren walked closer to observe, and after confirming that Lin Fan was fine, he decided immediately: "Let's go back. Can you still walk? Do you want me to carry you?"

Lin Fan couldn't walk anymore, but he didn't want to be carried by a stranger, so he walked back without saying a word.

Jin Sichen hurriedly followed her. Although he was surprised at Lin Fan's poor physical condition, he still put her health first.

"It's only been less than 500 meters and you're already out of breath. Your physical condition is so..." Li Chunhua complained to Song Ren in a low voice.

Song Ren gave Li Chunhua a warning look, said nothing, and followed her.

Li Chunhua stood there, his heart skipping a beat before he finally realized what was happening. He shouldn't have been talking behind someone's back, especially since Lin Fan was still ahead of him. He was wrong.

He clenched his fists. He had clearly decided to be more open-minded, so why was he still staring at Lin Fan and finding fault? He slapped himself twice and chased after him.

By the time Lin Fan returned to the dorm, she was gasping for breath and unable to lift her legs. Jin Sichen stood guard, wary of her collapsing mid-flight. Lin Fan, resolute and resolute, made it all the way to the bedroom, collapsed on the bed, and refused to move.

The three people following behind finally breathed a sigh of relief. It was a hot day, so there was no need to cover her with a blanket to prevent her from catching a cold. They quietly left Lin Fan's dormitory, closing the door behind her, and let her rest.

"Her stamina..." Jin Sichen hesitated. He knew Lin Fan wasn't in good shape, but he hadn't imagined how she'd feel like running a marathon in just a 1,000-meter race. The word "poor" couldn't describe it.

He didn't know that when Wu Yusen took Lin Fan for various checkups, he would often let her sit down and rest whenever he could, and never walked such a long distance at once. Because of this, Lin Fan didn't show such obvious fatigue in front of others.

He didn't give any special instructions before leaving because he knew that everyone was aware of Lin Fan's poor physical condition, but he forgot that others were not familiar with Lin Fan, and Lin Fan himself was unwilling to speak, which led to the current result.

"I know, leave it to me." Song Ren had never seen anyone with such poor physical condition. But since he had agreed to the training plan, it was natural that he would be fully responsible for Lin Fan's physical recovery.

Jin Sichen and Song Ren exchanged a glance, said nothing more, and returned to their rooms. Song Ren and Li Chunhua also turned back to their rooms.

"Captain Song," Li Chunhua admitted her mistake to Song Ren as soon as she entered the room. "I was wrong just now. I won't make the same mistake again."

"Li Chunhua, you must remember that Lin Fan has never been our enemy." Song Ren said meaningfully, "She is someone we must protect with all our heart. She is a very important national asset."

"I'll remember that," Li Chunhua admitted. He understood the principle, but sometimes his emotions got out of control. His boss had been right when he'd called him impulsive.

Song Ren didn't dwell on his mistakes and asked, "Do you want to take a nap?"

The mecha reserve team had a relatively regular schedule, including a lunch break. Song Ren tried not to disrupt his biological clock if possible.

"Let me watch the surveillance first. Captain Song, you take a rest first." Li Chunhua wanted to redeem himself from his crime.

Song Ren didn't want to give in to him and just went straight to bed for his lunch break. He wasn't worried at all about Li Chunhua not getting enough rest. Lin Fan probably wouldn't get up until the evening, so it wouldn't be a problem for him to rest for an hour or two and then take over for Li Chunhua.

As Song Ren expected, Lin Fan slept until after 5 o'clock. If she wasn't afraid of not being able to sleep at night, she wouldn't have gotten up.

After bringing in all the clothes and bedding that were drying outside, Lin Fan threw the dirty cow bed sheets into the washing machine and then laid out the bedspread with daisy sheets.

After all, the cow sheet is a portable travel product. It is not big enough and not particularly convenient to get in and out of bed.

She didn't like the white suit very much, so she just folded it and put it in the closet.

Jin Sichen knocked on Lin Fan's door. It had been the entire afternoon, and she still had no idea how she was doing. Seeing that Lin Fan was otherwise normal, aside from a slower pace and some fatigue, she felt completely relieved.

"Lin Fan, are you still eating dinner?" Jin Sichen asked, "If you're not hungry, you can eat a little fruit and try to develop a regular three-meal habit."

Lin Fan thought for a moment and asked for an apple. Jin Sichen went next door to find Song Ren.

Song Ren had already seen Jin Sichen go to Lin Fan through the surveillance camera, but he couldn't show up immediately because he was too suspicious. After Jin Sichen came out of Lin Fan's room, he immediately turned off the monitor and called Li Chunhua. When he opened the door, he happened to see Jin Sichen outside, ready to knock.

"Captain Song, please bring Lin Fan an apple for dinner. She ate too much at noon, and an apple will be enough to fill her stomach in the evening." Jin Sichen said straight to the point.

Li Chunhua served meals according to their appetite, and the portions were particularly large for someone like Lin Fan who ate little to begin with.

She felt the rice was too much, but she couldn't share it with others because it wasn't cooked enough. She didn't have the habit of leaving any leftovers, so she forced herself to finish it, which was why she felt full.

"Okay, I'll let Li Chunhua go. What would you like to eat, Dr. Jin?" Song Ren agreed as he walked towards Lin Fan's dormitory.

"Just the same as yours, just a little less than at noon." Jin Sichen is not picky.

He also realized that the food at 800 was no worse than that at the Special Service Station. He could order anything he wanted without any hesitation and it wouldn't taste bad. However, he couldn't eat as much as Song Ren and the others. After all, they were combat personnel and had different calorie needs.

"Okay," Song Ren turned to Li Chunhua and said, "Go quickly and come back soon."

Li Chunhua trotted off. He was Song Ren's assistant, and running errands was his main job. Song Ren and Jin Sichen walked into Lin Fan's room together. She was slumped on the sofa, lost in thought.

After Lin Fan had a good sleep, he began to feel bored.

Whenever she feels bored at home, she will search online for novels or TV dramas to pass the time, so as to avoid having too much free time to think about random things.

Later, Wu Yusen took me to the Special Affairs Office. I was busy doing examinations for several days in a row. I was tired and had little free time. But now, I have settled down in 800 and I don’t know what to do now.

It would have been fine for her to watch TV, but Jin Sichen and the others were coming, and she couldn't leave them alone and lie in bed watching TV.

Once there's someone in the room, she becomes tense and unconsciously considerate of others, completely unlike when she's alone and can relax...

So it’s better to be alone!

But then again, after arriving at the institute, the accommodation and food were all quite good, and the people were all very polite, and it didn't go as she had imagined it would.

Even Song Ren, who she felt was dangerous, did not show any aggression. If life continued like this, it seemed that there would be nothing wrong.

But you still have to find something to do!

"Lin Fan, what are you thinking about?" Jin Sichen walked over and did not sit on the sofa. Instead, he dragged a chair and sat down opposite Lin Fan.

Song Ren sat at the table and watched them chat.

Lin Fan didn't want to pay attention to him. Someone had been hanging around her for the past two days, and she was a little annoyed, but she couldn't say it out loud.

"Are you tired of the crowds?" Jin Sichen, a psychology student, guessed it immediately and said with a smile, "It's been like this these past few days. Since you just arrived, I want to make sure you don't get used to life here, so you come more frequently."

"In a couple of days, once we're sure you're not feeling any discomfort, we won't be here as often." Jin Sichen glanced at Song Ren at the table, and seeing he didn't react, he continued. "Next Monday, you can resume your normal routine."

"We'll go to 623 together, just like we're going to work. You can stay in your lounge and do whatever you want. I'll go to my studio and only see you once a week for treatment. Of course, I'll still be with you during the initial checkups."

"If the 623 staff want to test you, cooperate if you can, but refuse if you don't feel comfortable. After work tonight, we'll take the bus back together. If you want us to have dinner with you, just let us know. If you don't, we'll know you want to be alone and won't come over to disturb you. Do you think this arrangement is more comfortable?"

Lin Fan thought that it would be nice if she could be alone except for working hours.

"But once you leave the dormitory, Captain Song and the others will follow you to protect you. Just treat them as colleagues in the same office."

Jin Sichen knew that Lin Fan's biggest discomfort still came from these two people. "After a day of interaction, what do you think of Captain Song and the others? If you don't like them, I can ask Deputy Chief Xie for a replacement."

Forget it! No matter who it was, wouldn't there still be two people staring at her?

Lin Fan is not stupid. He knows that so-called protection is equivalent to surveillance, which is one of the necessary conditions for living a peaceful life here.

Although Song Ren was dangerous, he had shown a calm demeanor towards her and was efficient. Compared to Li Chunhua, he was actually quite good. Add to that Wu Yusen's guarantee, and he seemed quite trustworthy.

Jin Sichen looked at her with a smile, and Lin Fan saw her seriousness in her words—as long as she dared to ask, he would dare to apply. Not wanting to dwell on this issue too much, she spoke under Song Ren's concerned gaze, "I'm trying to find something to do to pass the time."

Jin Sichen raised an eyebrow. This was the answer to his original question. This Lin Fan was still evasive! But he didn't rush. Following Lin Fan's words, he continued to ask, "Have you figured it out?"

Lin Fan shook his head.

Jin Sichen seemed very interested and pulled Song Ren to discuss how to help Lin Fan pass his free time. They both came up with a lot of ideas, and before they knew it, Lin Fan gradually joined in, occasionally joining in.

When Li Chunhua came back, she saw three people gathered together talking animatedly. It was mainly Jin Sichen and Song Ren talking, while Lin Fan listened. The atmosphere was very harmonious.

Li Chunhua scratched his head. Wasn't he just out getting a meal? How come these three people were already so close?

The day after I recommended it, I still can't find where my recommendation is. Please collect it, recommend it, and give me a monthly ticket. There will be another update in the afternoon.
