Chapter 86: Chief, squad leader and punishment sheet

A Little Elves in a grey uniform quietly floated to the podium, dragging the empty white mug out of the classroom.

Lao Yao pulled his pipe out of his pocket again and tapped it against the blackboard. A blackboard eraser quickly jumped up from the floor and began to work diligently.

“The third thing.” The Professor raised his right hand, holding up three fingers: “Regarding the Chief and the Class Monitor.”

The classroom was silent.

Lao Yao, holding his pipe, continued to pace slowly on the podium.

He didn't put any tobacco in his pipe; it seemed holding the pipe made him feel more Natural.

“At Nine Provinces College, the Chief is the best student. We are not Alpha; we don't care about interpersonal skills, connections, Bloodline, or origins. You don't need to provide proof of ancestry going back five hundred years. We only look at grades.”

“Therefore, the Chief for the first semester will be Liu Feifei.”

“Does anyone have any objections?”

No one spoke.

Lao Yao nodded with satisfaction and continued:

“As for the Class Monitor, they are the link between the students and the College and need a strong sense of responsibility. Professor Yi Jiazhi has recommended two students to me, and they will temporarily act as Class Monitors for this semester.”

Xin Fatty couldn't help but raise his hand.

“Student Xin, is it?” Lao Yao squinted, flipped through the roster, and smiled, nodding: “Any questions?”

“Aren't Class Monitors elected?” Xin Fatty asked loudly.

A small murmur of agreement rose in the classroom.

“Are there any other questions? Bring them all up.” Lao Yao wasn't angry; he still wore a smile.

“Why are there two Class Monitors?”

“What are the requirements to be a Class Monitor? Can we volunteer?!”

“Who is Professor Yi Jiazhi?”

Encouraged, the new students chattered, asking a barrage of questions.

Lao Yao nodded repeatedly.

After a long while, when the classroom quieted down, the Professor tapped the podium with his pipe:

“Any other questions?”

The students shook their heads.

“Then I will explain them one by one.”

“Professor Yi Jiazhi is your Divination Class teacher. You'll meet him tomorrow morning in Divination Class. He has a very good temper, and his Divination skills are exceptionally high. You can absolutely ask Professor Yi to help you look at some harmless details after class. For example, male students can ask which girl has a crush on them, and girls can ask if their male idol is already taken.”

A low chuckle ran through the classroom.

Lao Yao narrowed his eyes and continued to explain:

“The Class Monitor requires a strong sense of responsibility, as I just mentioned. You have just entered First University, and there's still a lack of understanding among you. In this situation, voting would be blind. It would be meaningless.”

“So I think it's a good choice for the Divination Class Professor to help you look at the future Class Monitor candidates.”

Zheng Qing nodded in agreement.

That certainly sounded like a good idea.

“Tang Dun will serve as the Class Monitor for Astronomy 08-1 Class of Nine Provinces College, in charge of matters concerning male students; Jiang Yu will serve as the Assistant Class Monitor, responsible for matters concerning female students. If anyone has any problems, you can find them to help resolve them.”

Zheng Qing still remembered the name Tang Dun.

It wasn't from the new student introductions just now. Rather, after getting off the plane yesterday, while waiting to enter at First Square, they had a brief exchange.

Zheng Qing still remembered that this male student stepped forward when the new students were in chaos, organizing them to line up in order, which was praised by some older students.

Looking at it this way, he indeed had the potential to be an excellent Class Monitor.

As for Jiang Yu.

Zheng Qing looked at the tall female student who stood up and nodded slightly to those around her, and couldn't help but slam his head back onto the desk.

What to do after class!

After the two new Class Monitors greeted everyone, Lao Yao spoke again:

“Serving as Class Monitor or Chief does not come with academic credit rewards. However, if you perform excellently, I will give you an excellent evaluation in the year-end assessment.”

“Whether it's the Chief or the Class Monitor, it's an honor. It's the University's recognition of you.”

“Just like any punishment, it's a testament to your growth at the University.”

Saying that, he smiled and looked towards the back of the classroom, raising the few pages of paper in his hand:

“Something like this.”

The few pages of paper floated lightly into the air.

Three Little Elves swiftly rushed down from the resting area along the top of the blackboard, each grabbing a sheet of paper.

Then, flapping their wings, they flew lightly towards the back of the classroom.

The students turned their heads with a rustle, looking towards the last few rows of the classroom.

Xin Fatty looked bewildered.

Zhang Jixin's face was flushed.

Xiao Xiao lowered his head, fiddling with his notebook again.

Zheng Qing watched the Little Elves flying closer and closer, a chill rising in his heart, and the ominous premonition grew stronger.

“My dearest students, you gave me a big gift package in the first week of school.”

Lao Yao, holding his pipe and crossing his arms, exclaimed:

“A University Disciplinary Notice!”

“I've been a Professor for so long, and this is the first time I've received a Disciplinary Notice for new students! It's a complete surprise!”

Zheng Qing's vision blurred slightly.

A Little Elves flew in front of him, holding up the paper in its hand.

He swallowed, squinted, and read, using the bright sunlight from outside the window.

“Disciplinary Notice:

Regarding new students 2008TW-1-000 (Xiao Xiao), 2008TW-1-002 (Zheng Qing), and 2008TW-1-015 (Zhang Jixin) of Nine Provinces College, who engaged in a fight on the Beta Town Pedestrian Street around 6:00 PM on the first day of the eighth month of the sixty-third year of Wuyuanwei Creation.

According to the relevant provisions of the 'First University Student Management Regulations' and the 'Beta Town Public Security Management Punishment Regulations,' the following penalties are hereby imposed:

First, the new students involved are ordered to submit a written self-criticism to the Student Union Office within one week;

Second, the relevant class counselors shall issue a public criticism during the class meeting;

Third, the new students involved shall report to the School Affairs Committee within one week of the start of the semester to accept subsequent punitive tasks.

First University is committed to providing a safe and good learning environment for all students and will never condone any unapproved conflict. All new students are urged to take this as a warning.

First University Student Union Office & First University Campus Management Committee (Signed)

September 1, 2008 (Second day of the eighth month of the sixty-third year of Wuyuanwei Creation)”

The notice was light red, small in size, only 24k. The paper was also very soft, feeling like a crisp cotton cloth to the touch.

But Zheng Qing, holding it in his hand, felt as if he were touching a red-hot branding iron, restless.

The other students in the class looked curiously at the three male students in the corner and the notices in their hands, whispering and discussing quietly.

Everyone was curious about what had happened.

Zheng Qing heard Zhang Jixin's long sigh of relief beside him:

“You scared me to death! I thought I'd get a severe warning or be put on probation! If my dad knew I was put on probation on my first day of University, he'd definitely rush into the dorm and beat me into eighteen different shapes.”

Zheng Qing twitched the corner of his mouth, unsure whether to smile.

He didn't have the carefree nerves of the red-faced male student.

In his limited eighteen years of Life, this was the first time he had received such a formal disciplinary notice.

Anxiety was the only thought floating in his heart.
