Chapter 8: Send treasure to master

“Killing people, taking things?”

The ambiguous answer left Han Li somewhat confused and unable to press further, so he could only make wild guesses in his heart.

At this moment, Mo Juren was contemplating his next move.

Immortal Cloud Mountain was in a remote location, and by common sense, there wouldn't be any valuable resources there. However, because this was the protagonist's place of origin, how could he rise without resources? Therefore, 'Fate Daddy' still arranged them for him.

The most valuable item was naturally the Little Green Bottle, a treasure born from Chaos. This thing was too extraordinary; it wasn't something he could covet, so he didn't consider it.

Besides the Little Green Bottle, the second most important item was the Immortal Ascension Token, currently in the hands of Superior Jin Guang.

Superior Jin Guang, or rather, 'Treasure-Giving Superior,' was originally a Disciple of a certain Cultivation Family. However, his fate was not good; not only was his Cultivation Aptitude extremely poor, but halfway through, his Family also declined, and he was forced to flee to this remote place to eke out a living.

Superior Jin Guang also knew that his Aptitude was poor and that he couldn't achieve anything on the path of Cultivation, so he simply gave up and instead became infatuated with mortal life.

From his name, it was clear that his first love was money; he would become extremely infatuated when he saw anything shiny and golden, thus earning him the reputation of being greedy. Anyone living near Jin Guang Temple knew these things.

Mo Juren had coveted this 'Treasure-Giving Superior' for a long time, and thus, he had inquired about the location of Jin Guang Temple long ago. After several days of continuous travel, he finally reached his destination.

“Jin Guang Temple?” Looking at a certain Daoist temple in the distance, Mo Juren's mouth couldn't help but twitch.

As expected of you, Superior Jin Guang, this Daoist temple was indeed luxuriously built, and even the plaque above the entrance was unique. It must have been brushed with gold powder; the three large characters 'Jin Guang Temple' shone brightly, living up to their name.

Han Li also noticed Jin Guang Temple and couldn't help but wonder if the person his master wanted to kill was in this Daoist temple? From the outside, the Daoist temple, aside from being somewhat extravagant, had nothing special about it. He wondered what valuable things it contained?

Mo Juren didn't act immediately. In the original work, Superior Jin Guang was very weak and was instantly killed by Han Li's sneak attack. However, that was when the opponent was out and about; who knew what trump cards or traps he might have in his lair?

It was better to be cautious. He beckoned Han Li into a nearby inn to stay. After everything was settled, he began his plan.

The night was very dark, and the wind was very strong.

Han Li left the inn with an invitation, looked around, and then walked towards Jin Guang Temple not far away.

“Bang bang bang…”

“Bang bang bang…”

“Who is it…”

The knocking continued for a while, and finally, there was a response. The door creaked open, revealing the face of a Daoist boy.

“Who are you looking for?”

“May I ask this immortal boy, is Superior Jin Guang present? Han Li has been sent by his master to deliver an invitation, inviting the Superior to gather at the Immortal Gathering Pavilion.”

Han Li calmly stated his purpose, while placing the invitation, along with a silver ingot, directly into the other party's hand.

“Oh, you are truly… truly good.” The immortal boy's face immediately lit up with joy upon seeing the large silver ingot. Before he even finished speaking, he unceremoniously took it.

“Wait.”

Han Li's lips curved slightly. He wasn't in a hurry and waited patiently. He also muttered to himself, 'If the beam is not straight, the lower beams will be crooked.' He guessed the master of this place wasn't much better.

After only a moment, the door opened again, and the Daoist boy, with a slight smile, said that the Superior was very much looking forward to his master's sincerity and had agreed to the appointment. He was currently changing clothes and would depart when it was time. He could go back and report first, preparing everything in advance.

Han Li nodded and then bid farewell and left.

The Immortal Gathering Pavilion, a three-story building, was the most high-end restaurant in the nearby area.

Those dining here were all high-ranking officials and nobles, and the cost was naturally not cheap. The reason Mo Juren chose this place was precisely for its reputation, which could greatly satisfy the other party's vanity.

Sure enough, even before the appointed time, Superior Jin Guang arrived early, dressed in a luxurious robe, with various precious ornaments on his head and body, glittering under the lamplight.

Unfortunately, his height was too short to support such a lavish outfit, ultimately giving people a strange, incongruous feeling.

“This must be the renowned Superior Jin Guang. Mo has come here admiring your reputation. This sudden visit is truly a disturbance, and I hope the Superior will forgive me.” Mo Juren stood up and exchanged greetings. Coupled with his elegant demeanor, anyone who saw him would unconsciously develop a good impression.

Unfortunately, Superior Jin Guang was an exception. He hated handsome men more than anything, as they always made him feel inferior. However, given the large sum of money the other party promised, he couldn't be bothered to dwell on these things.

“This Superior doesn't like beating around the bush. Let's be straightforward; just tell me what you need. If I can do it, I will definitely handle it for you. But regarding the price, is the amount you promised in your invitation true?”

“What Mo says is naturally true.” Since the other party wanted to be direct, Mo Juren didn't bother with courtesies. He directly opened a nearby package, and immediately, a bag of jewels was revealed.

“These are the deposit. As long as the Superior accepts Mo's invitation, there will be more later.”

“Accept, of course I accept.” The moment he saw the jewels, Superior Jin Guang's eyes went straight. He couldn't care about anything else and hastily agreed.

“That's excellent then.”

Mo Juren smiled, then motioned for the other party to sit down. As for the jewels beside him, he didn't put them away, as if they were bait, constantly stirring Superior Jin Guang's heart.

With the business settled, the atmosphere naturally became harmonious. Mo Juren was eloquent, and his words were full of exaggerated flattery, which made Superior Jin Guang overjoyed, his ugly face becoming even uglier.

Time slowly passed with toasts and drinks. By the time it ended, the latter was already a bit muddled, unable to speak clearly, and staggered when walking, needing to be supported by the Daoist boy who came with him to leave.

“Mo… Mo Laodi, don't worry. The matter you… you entrusted to me is nothing to this… this Superior. I will definitely handle it perfectly for you. Today… *hic*… I really can't go on. I… *hic*… I'll go back first. Next time… next time we'll gather again…”

After giving a few disjointed instructions, Superior Jin Guang called for his Daoist boy and had him support him away. As he left, he didn't forget to instruct the boy to take the jewels with him.

Watching this scene, Mo Juren felt speechless. This fellow, despite coming from a Cultivation Family, how could he be so obsessed with money? He truly couldn't understand it.

He collected his thoughts and gave Han Li a look. The two of them didn't linger and also left the restaurant.

The night grew darker, and pedestrians on the street gradually disappeared. A hint of chilling Qi permeated the silence.

At this moment, Superior Jin Guang felt nothing, still immersed in joy. This time, he was truly lucky to have encountered such a rich fool. As long as he completed this transaction, his private treasury would grow significantly again.

The surge of alcohol couldn't stop the continuous fantasies in his mind.

However, just as he was lost in pleasant thoughts, something suddenly darted out from the roadside bushes, like a venomous snake, quickly coiling around his ankle. Unprepared, he instantly fell to the ground.

“What's going on?” His mind was still a bit muddled, unable to react for a moment. Then, there was no 'then.' A cold light flashed, and with a soft thud, his large head directly detached from his body and rolled into the roadside bushes.

“Ah…” The young Daoist boy beside him instantly snapped back to reality and was so frightened that he wanted to scream. As soon as he opened his mouth, another attack appeared, followed by a sharp pain at the back of his head, and his vision went black as he fainted.

In the darkness, Mo Juren slowly revealed his figure. He walked a few steps closer, bent down, and fumbled around various parts of the body. After a while, he pulled out four items: a long, rectangular wooden box, two books (one thin, one thick), and a gray-black cloth bag.

He glanced at the wooden box and the books, calmly put them into his embrace, and then, with some anticipation, opened the cloth bag. Immediately, a triangular token came into view.
