Chapter 17: Contaminated with breath

According to common sense—if he truly received a detective's golden finger, then the more serious the cases he solved, the more experience points he should logically gain.

However, in practice, this was not the case.

Weilan believed there must be a misunderstanding.

But given that Weilan had only solved two cases so far, and these two cases were related, such a small and specific sample size certainly could not lead to a reasonable judgment.

Taking on more cases and analyzing the upgrade pattern of the golden finger was imperative.

Being a private detective was a good choice.

He could solve cases while also earning money.

The idea of starting a detective agency gradually formed in Weilan's mind. He even considered learning some wound treatment methods so that he could promptly treat injuries if he got hurt during an investigation.

“Of course, I must inform the client beforehand that if I get injured, they must pay extra medical expenses. After all, my blood can’t be shed for nothing…”

Blood? Blood!

A flash of inspiration struck, and Weilan skillfully seized it.

Weilan had an idea regarding Harry and Black's condition!

Ron's snores from the lower bunk were sweet, and Weilan tiptoed out of bed, put on his coat, and left the tent.

The east was faintly white. Weilan didn't know how long he had been sleepless, only feeling his blood vessels throbbing in his head and tinnitus drowning out the birdsong of early morning.

Excitement and thrill kept him awake, and he expertly found his own tent in the campsite.

Unlike the Weasley's magic tent, the tent he used was a blue plastic tent purchased from a Muggle store, and in the corner outside the tent, his ice cream truck was still leaning crookedly.

Morning dew condensed on the blue plastic sheet, rolling off as Weilan pulled open the tent.

Inside the tent, he rummaged out a fruit knife and a small glass bottle.

This kind of small glass bottle had no label and was commonly found in Wizard shops, mostly used to hold herbal powders or some Potion.

If someone wanted to investigate starting from the bottle, no matter what, they would not be able to find a result.

The small bottle originally contained mosquito repellent purchased by Weilan. Now that the repellent was exhausted, the bottle was about to welcome its next mission—

To hold a small portion of Weilan's blood.

Weilan knew very well that Wizards did not understand Muggle DNA comparison technology at all.

So Weilan chose to first conceal his immunity to Veela magic, giving a small amount of his blood to James and telling him that it was a blood sample he had conveniently taken from a Veela.

Then he instructed James:

The Veela had once boasted to him that the blood in the bottle came from a special Wizard immune to Veela magic, so studying this blood carefully might lead to a method to treat Harry and Black.

This way, Weilan could also investigate the reason for his own unique constitution.

With his thoughts settled, he painfully cut his arm and collected the blood flowing from the wound into the bottle.

After simple hemostasis, Weilan hid the scar under his long sleeve, picked up the bottle, and walked towards the edge of the campsite.

Aurors were patrolling the edge of the campsite; through them, Weilan should quickly find James.

Things developed exactly as Weilan expected. James, with dark circles under his eyes and also sleepless all night, took the bottle, and a look of surprise appeared on his gaunt face.

Weilan explained to James why he hadn't handed over this blood sample last night:

“It’s like this, Mr. Potter, after I escaped last night, my mind was completely messed up.”

“After Mrs. Weasley gave me some food, I lay down. But I didn’t sleep well, I kept having nightmares, and after waking up again in the early morning, I remembered this.”

Weilan pointed to his dark circles, proving that his sleep last night was also not good.

James trustingly accepted the bottle:

“I believe this will be a great help to the healers at St. Mungo's Hospital. Thank you, Weilan.”

“It’s still very early now, you can go back to sleep for a bit, otherwise your dark circles will worry Molly.”

“You also need sleep, Mr. Potter, I can already see the bloodshot in your eyes.” Weilan was very worried, and he was not only worried about James, “Any news from Mrs. Potter? Has she been found?”

“Lily has been found, in our basement. They blindfolded her, gagged her, and bound her hands and feet while she was asleep, then threw her into the basement and locked it.”

“Fortunately, Lily’s eyes were covered, so she didn’t see their faces. Now, besides being slightly weak due to not eating or drinking for a long time, Lily is otherwise unharmed.”

After saying this, James urged Weilan to go to sleep again.

Knowing that Lily was fine, Weilan's heart finally settled.

Fatigue came in waves, and Weilan let out a huge yawn—he really needed to sleep as soon as possible.

Dragging his heavy footsteps, he walked towards the Weasley's tent.

By this time, the sky was already bright, and the cool morning breeze blew across his face, bringing the fresh scent of grass and earth.

Weilan took a deep breath, letting the refreshing morning air sweep away the accumulated weariness of the night, and his steps finally quickened.

As he was about to reach the Weasley's tent, Weilan subconsciously looked around to see if anyone had noticed him sneaking out of the tent.

Good news, there weren't many people. Only a few Aurors in the distance, or a few scattered Wizards he didn't know, were walking around.

Just as Weilan turned his head, wanting to change his perspective, in the far distance, he suddenly stopped his gaze.

There was a lush dense forest, which was exactly where he had escaped from last night.

Now, on the grass in front of the dense forest, a young girl stood quietly.

The morning breeze scattered the girl's silver long hair and opened the pure white skirt of the girl. The distant distance and the rising mist blurred the girl's face, but could not hide her elegance and beauty.

Boom—

The moment his gaze met the girl's, a large torrent of data exploded in Weilan's right eye.

Dazzling white data light flickered rapidly, like dozens of laser pointers shining on the retina at the same time, bringing waves of discomfort to Weilan.

Fortunately, these data quickly vanished into thin air, and at this moment, only a few lines remained in Weilan's right eye's field of vision:

【You met the “Goddess”'s gaze and were tainted with a trace of the “Goddess”'s “authority” aura.】

【New skills unlocked! “Graceful Demeanor” and “Silver Light Protection”】

【Graceful Demeanor. Non-upgradable (Passive skill, takes effect automatically after acquisition)】

(Skill effect: By enhancing your temperament, greatly increase your charm. You will effortlessly gain the favorability of any creature!)

【Silver Light Protection. Non-upgradable (Passive skill, takes effect automatically after acquisition)】

(Skill effect: Increases your resistance to control magic like “Stupefy” or dark magic, and accelerates your wound healing!)

“What?”

Weilan came back to his senses and looked towards the dense forest, only to find that the girl had already vanished without a trace.
