Chapter 1: : Landlady

The July weather was unbearably hot, so much so that even a fart carried heat.

Zhou Yang, tired from a day's work, dragged his weary body back to his rented room.

He casually pressed the button on his old, dilapidated 1983-model fan.

"Damn it, a power outage?"

Zhou Yang cursed.

How could there be a power outage on such a hot day?

Wait, when he was coming upstairs, he clearly saw that other people's homes had electricity.

Could the fuse be broken?

Zhou Yang suspiciously pushed open the door and went to check the circuit breaker box for his room.

He was speechless; the switch had been pulled.

The problem was, he couldn't open it.

Zhou Yang knew it; this must have been the landlady's doing.

"On such a hot day? You cut my power, I'll cut your sister's!"

Zhou Yang fumed as he charged towards the landlady's house.

The landlady, Fang Jie, was thirty-one years old and a widow.

She had a beautiful oval face, faint eyebrows, and large eyes that were always squinted into a slit.

A pair of light blue-rimmed glasses framed her small nose, and her clever mouth was a barometer of her mood.

When she was in a good mood, she chattered away; when she was in a bad mood, it curved into an arc.

This was Zhou Yang's impression of his beautiful landlady.

Zhou Yang was very angry; after all, on such a hot day, she cut off his electricity?

But when he reached the door, he felt guilty, or rather, he lost his nerve.

After all, he was in the wrong; he owed two months' rent. But not going to her was definitely not an option; in this summer heat, wouldn't he die without electricity?

After much deliberation, Zhou Yang still pushed open the door and walked in.

He planned to say some nice words, but his thoughts were a bit jumbled, so he forgot to knock and just pushed the door open.

However, he froze, and a nosebleed instantly gushed out.

Fang Jie also froze.

She had just finished showering and, having forgotten to grab her clothes, simply walked out of the bathroom. It was at that moment that Zhou Yang burst in.

First, their eyes met, and then...

"Ah!"

"Zhou Yang, I'll kill you!"

Fang Jie's voice was like a lioness's roar from Hedong.

Zhou Yang dared not stay, and he took off running. Fortunately, the beautiful landlady wasn't dressed and didn't dare to chase him out.

Because of this, he managed to escape a disaster.

With a "bang," he closed his room door.

Zhou Yang was soaked, but he didn't dare to go out. He looked around, picked up a fan that a private clinic had given away for free a few days ago, and started fanning himself.

At this moment, his mind was filled with the scene he had just witnessed.

Snow-white skin...

As a pure, innocent virgin, how could he possibly handle that!

The more he tried not to think about it, the more vivid the visual impact became.

While Zhou Yang was lost in thought, the power came back on, and the electric fan whirred.

Zhou Yang was a bit confused. Not only did Fang Jie not settle scores with him, but she was also kind enough to restore his electricity?

This couldn't be a weasel paying respects to a chicken, with no good intentions, could it?

He gently opened the door, preparing to sneak a peek.

However, he regretted it.

Fang Jie, in her pajamas, stood at his doorway with her hands on her hips, her eyes burning with anger.

"Fa-Fang Jie, what a coincidence!"

Zhou Yang himself didn't understand how such a sentence came out of his mouth.

"Coincidence my foot!"

"I didn't realize, Zhou Yang, you look so refined on the outside, but you're learning to peep!"

"Tell me quickly, what did you just see?"

Fang Jie took a step forward, and Zhou Yang took a step back:

"Fang Jie, I didn't see anything."

"No, I came straight back here after work, I didn't peep at you taking a sh..."

Zhou Yang quickly covered his mouth. At this moment, he wanted to slap himself several times.

Perhaps because she was in a hurry to confront Zhou Yang, although Fang Jie was wearing pajamas, it was clear she was not wearing anything underneath.

As Fang Jie got angry and moved, her prominent chest rose and fell with her.

Zhou Yang's eyes automatically refocused.

"You little rascal, you're still looking!"

Zhou Yang knew that today's matter couldn't end peacefully, so he simply threw caution to the wind.

"Fang Jie, I admit I was wrong just now."

"But you can't blame me entirely, can you? You cut my power, on such a hot day, do you want to roast me to death?"

"Yes, I owe you rent, but I'm not trying to default on it; I'm just having some financial difficulties."

"Who doesn't have a hard time sometimes? Last time you sprained your ankle, wasn't it me who took you to the hospital?"

"And last time your period came, it was also me who bought you sanitary pads..."

Fang Jie just listened to Zhou Yang talking to himself, but her anger did subside quite a bit.

Zhou Yang was actually quite handsome, he just wasn't very capable.

After a day of work, he had a sweaty smell, and as the electric fan blew, it entered Fang Jie's nose without warning.

It was a strong masculine scent.

Fang Jie hadn't smelled this kind of scent in five years, and she even felt a bit nostalgic.

She knew about Zhou Yang's situation; a university student reduced to being an apprentice odd-jobber at an Antique Shop was quite pitiful.

As for pulling the circuit breaker, she couldn't be blamed either.

It was Zhou Yang's fault for deliberately avoiding her these past few days; she just wanted to punish him a little.

As a result, the previous misunderstanding occurred.

He clearly could have avoided struggling, yet he ignored her hints, which was the main reason for her anger.

"I can overlook it, and delaying the rent for a few days is fine too!"

"That storage room, you clean it out for me, help me tidy it up. I'm going to rent it out tomorrow."

"If it's not clean, hmph!"

Fang Jie finished speaking and left.

Zhou Yang wiped the sweat from his forehead and took a deep breath. The matter was finally over.

Zhou Yang knew about the storage room.

It was mainly used to store various odds and ends.

As soon as the door opened, a musty smell assailed his nostrils, and cockroaches scurried everywhere.

After the musty smell dissipated, he began to organize: cardboard, cartons, old tables, chairs, and benches. Zhou Yang started to categorize them.

He threw away anything useless and planned to secretly take the useful items back to sell for money later.

An hour later, most of it was organized, with only one cabinet left.

Zhou Yang prepared to move the cabinet out, but he didn't notice a small incense burner, covered in dust, on top of it.

Without paying attention, the incense burner fell directly as the cabinet swayed. Before Zhou Yang could react, his head made intimate contact with the incense burner.

"Ah!"

A scream, at this evening hour, sounded quite abrupt.

While the other tenants were still unaware of what was happening, Fang Jie had already rushed over.

Then she saw Zhou Yang covering his face with his hand, and blood was flowing out between his fingers.

Fang Jie was startled:

"Zhou Yang, are you alright?"

Zhou Yang waved his hand, indicating he was fine.

"You're in such a state, and you say you're fine!"

"Come to my place quickly, I'll take a look!"

Fang Jie didn't care about anything else; after all, this matter was related to her. She grabbed Zhou Yang's hand and walked towards her room.

After an examination, there was nothing serious. His left forehead was cut, half of his cheek had obvious abrasions, and there was slight swelling.

"It hurts! Be gentle!"

Zhou Yang grimaced; it was bound to hurt when the wound came into contact with medicine or anything else.

"You're a grown man, and you can't stand a little pain like this?"

"Don't move, I'll wipe it again!"

Fang Jie held Zhou Yang's head with one hand and helped treat the wound with the other.

However, this posture was quite intimate.

Fang Jie was wearing pajamas, and because it was too hot, the top two buttons of her collar were unbuttoned, and she wasn't wearing a bra underneath.

Coupled with their current position, it was—

Zhou Yang forgot the pain, his eyes unblinking, mainly because he couldn't bear to blink.

He inhaled deeply, wanting to draw this pure milky scent into his lungs and preserve it.

Only after Fang Jie finished applying the iodine did she see Zhou Yang's pig-like expression at that moment.

How could she not know that she had just exposed herself?

She was so angry!

She was worried to death, and this guy was actually taking advantage of her.

"Gulp!"

Zhou Yang swallowed, his pure, innocent virgin self was about to give in.

Because he was too focused, he completely failed to notice or feel his left eyeball begin to change, with faint, arc-like currents flowing within it.
