Chapter 4: I also eat fish

A new day dawned, and Naisade awoke from his slumber.

Black Dragons do not like sunlight, so they generally build their lairs in dark, damp places.

Although it was already past noon, a faint miasma still permeated the area, and none of the three Black Dragons had woken up.

At this point, Naisade was already feeling a bit hungry. Although eggshells were nutritious, they weren't filling, so it was time for him to go out and forage.

As soon as he stood up, his body let out a series of crisp crackles.

It was as if all his bones hadn't moved in a long time.

"What's going on?" Naisade was a little confused, then walked to the riverside.

Reflected in the river water, he noticed that his appearance had changed.

His bones had thickened by a circle compared to yesterday, and a small bone bud had grown at his elbow joints.

Logically, a young Dragon would need at least three months for bone spurs to grow on its joints and head.

However, this was only the second day, and Naisade's bones had already far surpassed those of his younger siblings.

Moreover, it was too dark yesterday to see clearly, but now he noticed that his pupils were as black as ink, a rare trait among Dragons.

"As expected of a cheat!"

Naisade couldn't help but stand by the pond, admiring his magnificent, ugly face.

Because from a human perspective, perhaps a young Dragon might seem cute at first, but as its body develops, a Dragon will grow towards majesty and ferocity.

While he was posing, he saw fish swimming at the bottom of the river.

It was fine until he saw them, but then his stomach immediately rumbled.

"Here I come!"

Naisade roared, leaping directly into the river, and a burst of bubbles rose to the surface.

"Help!"

Naisade had been careless. He knew how to dog paddle when he was human, but now he was a Dragon Beast. The more he paddled, the more he sank. What was going on?

Dragons can hold their breath for a long time in water, but that doesn't mean they can't drown.

After calming down, Naisade also sank to the bottom.

He held his breath and crawled step by step from the riverbed to the shallow bank.

Tens of seconds later, Naisade lay sprawled on the riverbank, gasping for air.

Although he nearly drowned and became the shame of all transmigrators, this dip in the water wasn't entirely without gain.

Burp.

He had drunk a bellyful of water and also swallowed a few small fish and shrimp incidentally.

Moreover, he had just tried it, and even if he learned to swim now, fish were much faster than him in the water; he simply couldn't catch them.

After a brief thought, as a transmigrator, he had an advantage.

He dug open the large pit he had excavated yesterday, took out a fish bone from it, and sharpened it with a stone.

It took him half an hour to grind out a sharp spike the size of an index finger, and he also made a hole in the middle of the spike.

Then he found some vines, threaded them through the hole in the middle of the spike, and a simple fishhook was made.

Although it looked terribly crude, and the hook was straight, not curved.

But that didn't matter; as long as the fish swallowed it, whether it was straight or curved, it could be pulled up as long as it got stuck in the fish's throat.

Then, he rummaged through the forest and found a finger-sized worm.

Resisting the urge to pop it into his mouth as a snack, he threaded the worm onto the fishhook and tossed it into the river.

He waited a long time, but no fish bit. Should he chum the water?

In his previous life, he saw fishing enthusiasts on forums: ten catties of fish food, half a catty for bait, nine and a half catties thrown into the water for chumming, and still they came home empty-handed.

He was really trying to pull a fast one with just one worm.

Just as he was about to give up, a sudden powerful tug came from the vine in his hand.

"Holy cow, a big one!"

Caught off guard, Naisade stumbled, but after regaining his composure, he gripped the vine tightly and pulled back.

He hadn't fished much in his previous life, so he had no technique for pulling the fish onto the riverbank now; it was all brute force.

Thus, an extremely bizarre scene unfolded in the Rotten Scale Swamp.

A one-day-old young Dragon, holding a fishhook made of vines and fish bones, was wrestling with a large fish in the water.

"This fish has immense strength in the water; I can't go head-to-head with it."

After pulling for several minutes, Naisade saw that he was losing strength, so he came up with a plan and tied the vine in his hand to a large tree nearby.

This tree was incredibly thick, standing tall like a pillar, and the vine wrapped around it several times.

The entire vine was pulled taut, and the fish in the water made the large tree sway violently.

Whenever the fish's pull weakened, Naisade would pull the vine twice fiercely, provoking the fish to start struggling wildly again.

Finally, when the fish's strength was exhausted, Naisade pulled it ashore.

This fish was very large, about a meter long.

Young Dragons are typically between 2 and 5 meters long; Naisade, having just been born, was a little over two meters.

Moreover, this fish had jaws like iron pliers; its name was Iron Crocodile River Carp. Naisade didn't recognize it, but as long as it was edible, that was all that mattered.

He bit into the carp's belly, tearing off a large piece of fatty fish meat, which slid down his esophagus.

It was nutrition!

This was much better than the gritty soil and the incredibly plain mud and plants, even though Dragon eggshells had the effect of strengthening bones.

But the problem was that Naisade, who had only eaten eggshells, dirt, and plants, was skin and bones; his enlarged skeleton only highlighted his thinness.

Flesh and blood are a Dragon's favorite!

Crunch, crunch, Naisade ate meat heartily and drank blood, having completely adapted to being a Dragon Beast.

He swallowed all the bones, fish skin, and scales too, then let out a satisfied burp and lay down under the large tree.

【Devoured Iron Crocodile River Carp, obtained passive skill 'Fish Swim'】

"I can even gain passive skills?"

With the prompt from the catalog, Naisade vaguely felt a change occurring within his body, a greater affinity for water.

Then, he jumped into the water. Though he couldn't swim, he moved his tail and body like a carp, swimming freely in the water.

He tested it and felt that while it was still difficult to catch up to fish in the river, he wouldn't sink to the bottom just by jumping in.

After swimming a couple of laps and playing around, Naisade climbed ashore, feeling a bit sleepy.

Dragons are basically like this: eat, sleep, and occasionally raid homes for treasure.

That's a Dragon's life understood.

As a transmigrator from another world, he naturally wanted to do more meaningful things, but now was not the time.

Sleep accelerates a Dragon's growth, and he needed to become strong as quickly as possible to escape the Dragon Mother's sphere of influence.

Sleeping after eating was the simplest and most cost-effective choice.

Then, he slowly crawled back to the cave. When he returned, he looked around and saw his younger brother and sister eating the stinky fish that the Dragon Mother had stored.

Black Dragons have a habit of storing captured prey and eating it after it has rotted.

Of course, Naisade, as a Dragon Beast, had no right to eat it.

The Dragon Mother's gaze fell upon him. She had thought Naisade had escaped, but she hadn't expected him to return.

Her eyes narrowed. She noticed that Naisade's body had changed; bone buds had actually grown on his joints.

In just one day, he had reached a level that ordinary young Dragons would take over a month to achieve.

This should be considered a rather good Physique among Dragons, but it was a pity he was a Dragon Beast.

No matter how powerful a Dragon Beast, it is merely a humble subordinate before a true Dragon.

Within the Dragon race's heritage, there is not only Dragon Language but also various powerful Dragon Language Magic.

Those with thin Bloodlines cannot inherit this part of the Legacy.

After a few glances at Naisade, the Dragon Mother lost interest in him and lay on the ground, closing her eyes to rest.

Naisade was somewhat jealous watching the two young Dragons eat meat without having to work.

"My foolish little brother and sister, though I eat less, I do more!"

His future food sources would all depend on himself. He felt the spirit of a workhorse burning within him!
