Chapter 6: It's not that we are excellent, it's just that others make us look good.

The Recruits were all dumbfounded.

They stared at each other, eyes wide.

"Are you deaf? Can't you hear?"

Bang!

Zhang Jiantao slapped the table: "Get up, all of you!"

The Squad Leaders of each platoon quickly shouted: "Get up, everyone get up!"

Only then did the Recruits realize, reluctantly moving their butts off the stools.

The Regiment Commander watched with a smile, looking ready to enjoy a good show.

Zhang Jiantao walked directly to First Platoon's side, saying angrily: "How did the Squad Leaders of each platoon train? Look at First Platoon, they're standing so well."

"The Leaders haven't even sat down, who told you to sit? You don't understand any rules."

Xu Da was full of pride, his eyebrows practically flying.

He hadn't taught them either, thankfully Lin Hui had set an example.

This kid wasn't a Recruit who got in through the back door as the Company Commander said, he was clearly a Genius!

Just as the Regiment Commander was there, these Recruits really helped him save face.

In contrast, the expressions of the other Squad Leaders were much uglier.

If everyone had sat down, maybe this wouldn't have happened.

But First Platoon was standing, and they were sitting.

This contrast made their troop-leading skills seem far too weak.

Zhang Jiantao walked back and forth with his hands behind his back: "From the first day the Recruits entered the camp, the Squad Leaders of each platoon have had the obligation to get the Recruits on the right track."

"War can come at any time, we don't have much time. We should use every little bit to make them true Soldiers."

"I've already heard from the Instructor, First Platoon started learning how to organize their internal affairs as soon as they arrived. After just a few hours, they can already fold a quilt properly, and what about you?"

He said sternly: "Just now during the march, First Platoon was the best in the entire New Recruit Company. Although not perfectly uniform, they at least looked a bit like Soldiers."

"The slogans they shouted were both loud and neat."

"Now look at yourselves, what are you Squad Leaders doing? Are you acting as nannies for the Recruits, not teaching them anything?"

The Squad Leaders' faces turned green.

But these thoughtless Recruits beside them were still whispering and secretly snickering.

Lin Hui saw it and felt happy inside: "These guys still haven't realized the seriousness of the problem. It seems they're probably all going to be unlucky tonight."

The Squad Leaders looked at Xu Da with envy, which made him feel great.

At this moment, Xu Da was even more grateful to Zhang Jiantao.

Because he knew that the Company Commander's words were not only lecturing the Squad Leaders but also for the Regiment Commander to hear.

Xu Da smiled slightly: It's only the first day, and such a big gap has already opened up. As long as we don't mess up later, honor and commendations are guaranteed!

He looked at Lin Hui, praising him in his heart.

Good Soldier!

Truly a good Soldier!

Zhang Jiantao said seriously: "From now on, all of you will take First Platoon as your example. If such a big gap opens up on the first day, what will happen later? All of you need to pay attention, this is the Military, not society!"

"Yes!"

Everyone shouted, and a few Recruits even deliberately dragged out the sound, finding it amusing.

They didn't realize how serious the problem was at all.

The Squad Leaders' eyes were spitting fire, their fists clenched tightly.

They glared at the Soldiers behind them, looking angry at their lack of effort.

When we go back tonight, see how I deal with you. You must learn a good lesson!

"Sit down and eat!"

The Company Commander shouted, and the Recruits immediately sat down, picked up their chopsticks, and started eating.

The Squad Leaders were so angry their noses were practically smoking: They're truly hopeless, they just talked about the rules, and they immediately forgot!

Zhang Jiantao watched from the side, shaking his head.

He had just lost his temper, but these Recruits didn't take it to heart at all, acting as if nothing had happened.

He turned to look at First Platoon, even after sitting down, they were like puppets, their hands resting on their legs, not moving at all.

However, their peripheral vision was all focused on Lin Hui, as if he was their backbone.

Zhang Jiantao was very surprised: Could it be that the reason First Platoon is so neat and coordinated is all thanks to this kid leading the way?

"Did I misunderstand him?" he muttered to himself.

"Getting in without a physical examination or review is certainly against the rules, but... it doesn't rule out the possibility that he might indeed be a good Soldier prospect."

Zhang Jiantao shook his head: "Never mind, I'll observe him more. If Lin Hui is really a good Soldier, he must be properly trained. If there's a chance in the future, I'll apologize to him."

Soon, all the officers were seated and started eating.

Xu Da saw the officers start eating and then ordered: "Eat!"

Everyone looked at Lin, seeing Lin Hui decisively pick up his chopsticks and bowl.

Only then did everyone start eating with peace of mind.

Xu Da was beaming.

The feeling of being in the spotlight was simply too great!

He even felt like he wasn't in the New Recruit Company at all, but leading a group of Soldiers who had already joined a Company.

Xu Da picked up a piece of braised pork and gave it to Lin Hui: "Lin Hui, eat more, the Canteen food is good. Everyone, eat more too, there's more if it's not enough."

"Thank you, Squad Leader."

Everyone didn't stand on ceremony and ate with great relish.

Especially Chen Erhu and Wang Yong, they ate like they were fighting a battle, wolfing down their food.

On one hand, the cookhouse's skills were good, and on the other hand, when there are many people, you have to snatch food, which indeed makes it taste much better than eating alone.

Lin Hui was also eating, seeing Xu Da looking at him with a smile, as if he were looking at a beautiful naked woman.

His heart suddenly skipped a beat: "Oh no, this old guy isn't eyeing me, is he? It's over, it's over, did I perform a bit too well today? I was just trying not to get punished, I never thought I'd stand out so much."

Actually, First Platoon's performance wasn't outstanding.

Many of their movements were even incorrect, not meeting the standard at all.

But the performance of the other platoons was simply too poor.

This directly made First Platoon an excellent example by contrast!

He pondered: "No, I can't be this conspicuous anymore. I need to quickly adjust my strategy and let everyone maintain a normal level, not fall behind, but definitely not be too outstanding."

"Only then can I be a carefree slacker."

...

After eating, each platoon started heading back.

First Platoon returned to the dormitory and immediately started wrestling with their quilts again.

Lin Hui knew that it wouldn't be long before the New Recruit Company had internal affairs evaluations.

If they didn't perform well in the evaluation, Xu Da would definitely get angry, and then everyone would have a hard time.

So, to avoid punishment, he went around the dormitory helping out.

As long as everyone could maintain a decent level, not too good, not too bad, they would be safe!

Just then, a pig-like howl suddenly came from outside.

Lin Hui and the others quickly lay down by the window, craning their necks to look out.

They saw the Recruits from each platoon standing in formation by the flower bed, shouting at the top of their lungs: "One, two, three, four..."

The Recruits' throats were almost hoarse, their faces full of despair.

But the Squad Leaders were still shouting angrily from the side: "Louder! You've all eaten your fill, and your voices are still so small, are you raising mosquitoes? Shout, shout until your throats are hoarse!"

Everyone in First Platoon gasped.

Even Wang Yong couldn't help but swallow, feeling a wave of fear.

Everyone looked at Lin Hui as if he were a god.

"Lin Hui, it really is you!"

"Luckily we all listened to you, otherwise we would have been miserable today!"

"Big Brother, I admire you too much, let me kowtow to you!"

Lin Hui smiled slightly, it was a good thing he was quite familiar with the situation in the Military.

Otherwise, they wouldn't be neatly folding quilts in the dormitory right now, but being dragged outside together for punishment.

"What are you looking at? You want to go out and train too, don't you? Hurry up and mind your own business!"

Xu Da walked over and said coldly on purpose.

Lin Hui stuck out his tongue and immediately led everyone back to their beds to continue working.

Meanwhile, as soon as Zhou Zhongyi returned to the Regiment HQ office, he picked up the phone: "Hello, Zhao, it's me, I want to tell you something..."
