Chapter 10: genius girl

“That thing behind and above your head is called a monitor. I can see it from here. If a living person suddenly appears, they’ll be discovered, and then people will come with those terrifying weapons… So don’t do that.”

An Chen’s left hand pointed to another monitor beside him, which displayed four surveillance feeds, the top-left one being the image from the camera behind the service desk.

“Got it…”

The voice seemed a little closer; Su Xiaojiu was probably standing behind An Chen.

“Sit.”

An Chen pulled the nearby chair next to him, and a slight sound soon came from the chair as the cushion indented.

“How do these monitors manage to show scenes from other places? How far can they see?”

Su Xiaojiu’s curious voice came.

An Chen didn’t answer immediately; instead, he first finished the final touches of the image editing and saved the edited image to a USB drive.

“A camera can capture the image of a place, and these captured images can be transformed into some wondrous forms and transmitted to this computer in front of you, displayed on the monitor. Theoretically, as long as a signal can be transmitted, you can see thousands of miles away.”

This sentence was actually still very difficult to understand, but Su Xiaojiu still let out an “Ah~” as if she truly understood.

In fact, she only remembered a few nouns.

The one that could see scenes thousands of miles away was the monitor, the square one was the computer’s monitor, the one behind and above her head was the camera, and there was also something called a signal…

“Now is not the time for you to ask questions; it should be me asking.”

An Chen tapped the desk and looked to the side, even though there was nothing in his line of sight.

“Why did you run out?”

“Staying in your house all the time is really boring…”

“Do you know how much trouble you cause me by running out? Cultivator like you, who can use magic, are undoubtedly like deities in the eyes of ordinary people, but to the public security department, you are unstable factors that disrupt social order, and they will do everything possible to capture you.”

An Chen suddenly felt like he was gaslighting.

But he wasn’t wrong about these words.

Su Xiaojiu couldn’t help but shiver.

Just thinking about the scenes played in the video earlier made her scared.

Such explosions, while unable to harm some Advanced Cultivator, were not something a little Cultivator like her at the Qi Refinement Stage could withstand.

And then there was that atomic bomb explosion at the end.

It could probably level half of the Fire Phoenix Sect.

“Now I know… You, you won’t really call those people to catch me, will you?”

“No.”

An Chen shook his head.

He didn’t want to look for trouble.

An Chen turned back to the computer screen, tapped the keyboard, and opened the official website of a social media software in the browser.

“Since you’re here, I’ll take a look at what’s happened to your fellow countrymen.”

He had already met two people who had Transmigrated from the Cultivation World, and both were Cultivator, which meant that this act of Transmigration was not an isolated incident.

An Chen didn’t believe that all the Transmigrators just happened to encounter him alone.

An Chen typed several keywords into the search bar, such as “Transmigration,” “deity,” “magic,” and the like, then searched a few times, and quickly found the video he wanted.

One of the videos was shot on a street, showing a person in strange clothing with flames surging from their palms. This person threw the flames everywhere, and passersby screamed and scattered.

The video had a continuation, with a top-down view from a building. After a large number of police cars and fire trucks arrived, the police almost immediately chose to open fire.

In China, the police generally do not choose to open fire immediately unless they encounter extremely vicious criminals or terrorists.

And this Cultivator, who was setting fires everywhere, was no less of a threat than a terrorist.

Twenty or thirty police officers simultaneously shot at this Cultivator, but the Cultivator barely reacted, instead throwing fireballs at the police cars.

Two police cars parked horizontally at the very front burst into raging flames, but as the fire burned, the Cultivator also seemed to have been hit by many bullets.

After more than ten seconds, the Cultivator staggered and fell to the ground, presumably dead.

“Can firearms actually harm Cultivator?”

In his speculation, Cultivator should have very good physical fitness, and An Chen wasn’t sure if such small-caliber kinetic weapons could harm them.

An Chen murmured, then pointed to the screen.

“Is his level powerful in your Nine Provinces Continent?”

“Not powerful. This is just Qi Refinement Stage level. His Realm isn’t as high as mine. You can find a dime a dozen Cultivator like him. If you throw a stone in our Sect, you’ll probably hit a Qi Refinement Stage Cultivator.”

An Chen glanced sideways at Su Xiaojiu’s position.

This guy is not only a bit silly but also likes to show off…

“It took a long time to take him down. It seems that while small-caliber kinetic weapons like handguns are effective against Cultivator, their effect is still a bit small. Perhaps rifles or even anti-material weapons would be much more effective.”

An Chen muttered softly to himself.

An Chen also found it reasonable.

If the Cultivation system from novels were brought in, Cultivator at the Qi Refinement Stage, the most basic Realm, although their bodies are not entirely mortal, are not incredibly strong. It’s perfectly normal for modern firearms to cause them harm.

“What is your Realm Rank system like?”

“Hmm.” Su Xiaojiu pondered for a moment and replied, “From bottom to top, it’s divided into Qi Refinement, Spirit Nurturing, Soul Transformation, Void Return, and Dao Integration. Each Realm has more detailed divisions. Qi Refinement is divided into thirteen small Realms, from the first to the twelfth level, and then the Peak. The other four Realms are divided into four small Realms: Early Stage, Middle Stage, Late Stage, and Peak.”

At this point, Su Xiaojiu suddenly paused, then coughed lightly.

“And I, though not very talented, am precisely a Genius girl at the eleventh level of the Qi Refinement Stage!”

“Then you are indeed not talented.”

“Huh???”

Su Xiaojiu became anxious, and her previously hidden head reappeared.

“Didn’t I say I’m a Genius girl? This Realm at this age is very difficult, you know!”

“How old are you?”

“Seventeen.”

“Only cultivated to the eleventh level in seventeen years? Isn’t that not talented?”

Saying that, An Chen pressed his hand onto Su Xiaojiu’s head.

“Change back.”

Su Xiaojiu obeyed and obediently hid her head, but her very unwilling voice still came through.

“But I really am a Genius girl, alright!”

“Alright, alright, you’re right, you’re a Genius girl.”

An Chen said carelessly, seemingly comforting her, but not much…

“You clearly don’t think I’m right, you don’t believe me at all!”

“I believe you.”

“You don’t!”

An Chen heard great grievance in Su Xiaojiu’s voice.
