Chapter 2: Start practicing

She nodded and replied, “Dinner is being prepared. It will take a little more time to be ready, but I’ll get you something to eat first.”

Then Saya brought Feng Zheng a plate of food, while Daisuke and Eiichi ran off to play.

Feng Zheng thought as he ate.

“The food here is average, not very tasty, but considering it’s an orphanage, it’s not bad. It seems they provide three meals a day—breakfast, lunch, and dinner—and there’s plenty of fruit to eat. It’s a pity there’s no meat, but the nutrition provided should be adequate. I won’t have to worry about going hungry when I do some training.”

“Oh well, I’ll just eat my fill first.”

After finishing his dinner quickly, Feng Zheng returned to his room.

He flopped onto his bed and began to think.

“Today was really tough. Although playing a child is difficult, luckily no one noticed anything different about me. It’s good that there are no Ninja in this orphanage. I need to figure out what to do next.”

“Since I’ve come to this world, I don’t want to be just an unnamed cannon fodder. My knowledge of future events gives me a big advantage. How should I proceed?”

Feng Zheng began to consider all his future plans and what he should do.

After half an hour of contemplation, Feng Zheng finally reached a conclusion.

Although he knew about future events, this knowledge would be useless without sufficient power.

Not to mention, future developments might not be exactly the same as in the Naruto series, which also has many plot holes.

Revealing this information to others was absolutely out of the question.

They would only throw him into the intelligence department for interrogation, or worse, into Danzo’s hands!

In that case, the future trajectory of the Naruto world might change, and his advantage would vanish.

So Feng Zheng thought, let’s save discussions about the future for later; the most important thing now is to improve his strength.

But what to do now… for the time being, ordinary Ninjutsu is out of the question.

Ordinary civilians simply cannot access Ninjutsu, so he can only learn Ninjutsu from the Academy.

That means he has to wait until next year to join the Ninja Academy.

Although Feng Zheng knew many Ninjutsu and their effects, he didn’t quite remember their Hand Seals.

The only Ninjutsu whose Hand Seals he remembered was Shadow Clone Technique.

Unfortunately, this seems to be a Jonin-level Ninjutsu, dangerous enough to be classified as a forbidden technique.

Not to mention, merely knowing these Hand Seals isn’t enough.

These Hand Seals require Chakra to operate in specific ways or display certain specific attributes to complete the Ninjutsu’s release.

Until he acquires this knowledge, practicing these Hand Seals is also meaningless.

That means he can try Ninjutsu and training that don’t require Hand Seals.

Feng Zheng thought, Rasengan, various elemental attributes, and Chakra control can all be trained.

Since Feng Zheng had already unlocked his Chakra, Chakra control practice was crucial.

The only problem was that Feng Zheng didn’t want others to know he was doing these things.

He thought he could try more training later, such as Leaf Concentration Training.

Tree climbing training might attract a lot of attention, and in a Village full of Ninja, ensuring complete privacy is impossible.

Fortunately, the first and second stages of Rasengan training can be done privately, as can the first stage of elemental training.

Besides that, Feng Zheng felt he should also strive to improve his physical condition.

Oh, this might be the most crucial part.

Although his physical condition was decent, it wasn't excellent.

So he should start with light exercise to build up his physical endurance and strength.

Feng Zheng also wondered if he could do training similar to Master Roshi’s.

“Ugh, never mind. I hope this headache at least disappears tomorrow.”

After thinking about all this, Feng Zheng drifted back to sleep.

---

Waking up early the next morning, Feng Zheng looked out the window and found that it was still pitch black.

Feng Zheng thought to himself.

“Wow, I woke up really early. It seems to be only 5 o’clock. Well, I slept all day yesterday, so it’s no wonder I woke up so early.”

Then he remembered his plans from yesterday and thought.

“Anyway, if I’m really going to get stronger, I need to make this a habit. The good side is, this damn headache is finally gone!”

He got out of bed and found Eiichi and Daisuke still fast asleep.

Unexpectedly, the children woke up so quickly. He washed up and left the room.

Then, he walked out of the orphanage building.

To the north of the orphanage was a fairly large playground for the children.

To the east and south, however, there were many trees, looking a bit like a small forest.

Konoha Village seemed to have many small forests like this. And many such places were used as Training Grounds for Ninja.

Unfortunately, there were no such Training Grounds near the orphanage.

To the west was a residential area, and a market was a few hundred meters away.

Feng Zheng thought to himself.

This forest might provide him with some cover and privacy.

While it might not be the best place, it did offer him an option for some secret training.

In addition, he also needed to see when he could have his own independent orphanage room.

Anyway, he felt he should do some warm-ups first to see how much stress this body could handle.

Finally, ending his thoughts, Feng Zheng began to stretch and relax his muscles.

After about 10 minutes of stretching, he started running around the playground.

According to his estimate, the circumference of the playground was about a hundred meters.

He could easily complete the first few laps, but quickly began to feel tired.

After challenging his limits, he completed 28 laps around the playground.

Feng Zheng took a deep breath and thought.

“Wow, I ran almost three kilometers! In my previous life, at the age of 5, I couldn’t possibly run more than one kilometer.”

And he also didn’t remember if this child had done any exercise before he took over this small body.

Feng Zheng also didn’t know if it was because people’s bodies in this world were stronger, or because he had unlocked Chakra, making his body stronger.

He felt it should be the former, as he had only just unlocked Chakra yesterday.

Next, he prepared to rest for a bit before continuing.

After a short 5-minute break, he continued with push-up exercises.

He successfully completed 2 sets of push-ups, 12 repetitions per set.

Next were sit-ups, which he could do 4 sets of, 15 repetitions per set.

Then he did squats and successfully completed 3 sets, 12 repetitions per set.

Finally, he did pull-ups, managing only 8 repetitions.

This workout indeed put a lot of stress on him, but it didn't push him to his limits, as suddenly pushing the body to its limits is harmful.

After completing his workout, Feng Zheng returned to the orphanage, took a shower, and changed into new clothes.

Returning to his room, he saw that it was already 7:30 AM, and his roommates were still fast asleep.

He thought to himself.

“Interesting, when do they usually wake up, and do they wake up at consistent times? If they wake up at 8 AM when breakfast is served, then I might be able to practice Leaf Concentration without anyone knowing. I should observe them next week to confirm this.”

Feng Zheng sat on the bed and picked up a leaf he had collected during his morning workout.

He stared at it and pondered.

In this Ninja world, there are five basic elemental attributes to learn—Fire, Wind, Lightning, Earth, and Water.
