Chapter 38: Swordsmanship Instructor

Currently, he only possessed one Rank A Ninjutsu among the knowledge he had mastered.

If he had one more thing he could learn, his output firepower would greatly increase.

However, he controlled his desire for this Ninjutsu for two reasons.

He hadn't trained his Fire Release yet, and this Ninjutsu also didn't seem to be enhanced by his Wind Release Ninjutsu.

All in all, these five Ninjutsu could be used with the basic skills that Genshu taught.

Fire Release: One Technique could cause fires, and Water Release: Fish Bullet Technique could extinguish them.

Wind Release: Gale Technique could cover tracks. Earth Release: Rock Shield Technique could defend and create cover for hiding.

And Lightning Release: Silent String Technique could paralyze small animals for a minute or two. So these Ninjutsu were very practical.

By the second week, Genshu announced in class.

“Today we begin learning swordsmanship, and I’ve invited a guest teacher to guide you.”

Genshu had considered this issue after Feng Zheng asked him to teach him how to use a sword. He concluded.

“Swordsmanship training is something everyone can learn. So if it’s only arranged for Feng Zheng, it’s not very fair. If among these thirty students, someone has a talent for swordsmanship, that would be a good discovery.”

“Even if no one is interested in swordsmanship, just learning how to use another weapon would be helpful to them. So I discussed it with Hokage-sama and specially arranged for someone to do this.”

Feng Zheng was a bit surprised to hear this news, but after thinking it over, he felt it made a lot of sense.

Everyone went to the school Training Grounds.

Upon entering, they saw Genshu talking to a tall, muscular guy who was carrying a sword. Genshu introduced him.

“He will teach you how to use a sword. His name is Nakatani Michi. He is a Chunin, just like me.”

Everyone respectfully greeted Nakatani Michi.

Nakatani Michi first introduced the background of swordsmanship. He gave a rather passionate speech about the life of a swordsman.

He talked about the First and Second Hokage using swords. He also talked about viewing the sword as an extension of the body.

Feng Zheng sensed the serious 'Teacher Guy' vibe from this guy.

After a 15-minute speech, he began to explain the basics of swordsmanship.

He taught how to hold a sword, what stance to take, how to swing the sword, and so on.

Feng Zheng took his guidance very seriously.

But not everyone was interested in this.

Students from the Nara, Akimichi, Inuzuka, Aburame, and Hyuga clans had zero interest in it.

A week later, Nakatani Michi asked who was interested in continuing to learn swordsmanship.

Besides Feng Zheng, only one commoner child and one person from the Hatake clan were willing to continue training.

Nakatani Michi spoke with the three of them to learn more about them, why they wanted to pursue swordsmanship, and to what extent they wanted to learn.

When Feng Zheng was asked this question, he replied.

“I want to develop my swordsmanship as much as possible and make it my primary method of close-quarters combat.”

Nakatani Michi praised him.

“That’s a good attitude, one day you will become an excellent swordsman. But do you have any thoughts on how to continue using the sword?”

Feng Zheng was not sure what options were available in Konoha. So he shook his head and said.

“No, I don’t know. Can you tell me all the paths I can train in?”

Nakatani Michi replied.

“In Konoha, we have many sword-related dances. For example, I know the Crescent Moon Dance, which is one of Konoha’s strongest swordsmanship styles. There are many basic styles you need to learn before you can master this swordsmanship.”

Feng Zheng blinked and asked in return.

“Dances?”

Nakatani Michi laughed, then replied.

“Well, they’re not exactly dances. They are just movements that must be performed in specific patterns. This pattern can help you create some very deadly effects in battle. For example, certain movements can create afterimages, or make you disappear, or make it seem like you haven’t moved. But because these movements resemble elegant dances, they are called that.”

Feng Zheng showed a thoughtful expression and thought to himself.

“I know this, of course. However, while dances have good effects, their inherent limitations are great. A formidable opponent can easily disrupt these movements. Maki could directly resist it with stronger defensive means. That’s why that guy Feng died so easily.”

Although if someone learned all these styles, they could create a very advanced swordsmanship style, it would take ten years or even longer.

Feng Zheng didn’t have that much time. He just wanted a direct sword technique.

This sword technique would have high attack power, be able to skillfully defend with a sword, and be able to nimbly dodge or pursue when needed.

Just covering the sword with the flow of Wind Chakra alone would be extremely lethal for any ordinary Ninja.

Now, how should he express this to him?

Feng Zheng couldn't directly say your style is weak. Nor could he say, if Madara asked you if you could dance, and you showed him your Crescent Moon Dance, he might hit his head on the ground and go back to his grave!

Wait, that doesn’t sound like Madara. He might bring down a few meteors. Yes, that’s more like him.

He continued.

“I don’t want to learn various dances right now, I just want to learn how to use a sword for powerful frontal attacks.”

After pausing for a few seconds, he continued.

“Uh… I don’t know if it’s possible, but is there a way to make the sword more lethal through Chakra flow or flying slashes?”

Feng Zheng had to be very careful here, after all, Chakra flow was not mentioned in the Library. So he had to present it as his own idea.

Nakatani Michi was initially a bit disappointed with Feng Zheng because he didn’t want to learn Konoha’s various swordsmanship styles.

But upon hearing this question, he was very surprised.

“Did this kid think of Chakra flow himself? And aren’t those Ninja able to transmit Chakra in the form of slashes? This child’s way of thinking is very innovative.”

“Unfortunately, I myself haven’t fully learned Chakra flow and Ninja flying slash techniques.”

Nakatani Michi was a bit troubled, thinking to himself.

“What should I do now? It would be too embarrassing to tell him I don’t know. The Crescent Moon Dance doesn’t require Chakra flow. And learning it takes a lot of time and effort, which is why most of us don’t learn it.”

He thought for a moment, then finally sighed and said.

“You’re talking about Chakra flow, where we transmit Chakra through the sword to make it more lethal. However, this is a very complex technique, and very few people in Konoha know it. So, never mind. Don’t worry about that now.”

“As for flying slashes, Ninja can all do them, but the technique is a secret and will be very difficult to learn.”

Feng Zheng showed a disappointed expression. He thought to himself.

“Ugh, this guy is useless! Couldn’t Genshu at least find someone who understands these things to teach me?”
