If Feng Zheng knew that Renjiro had no intention of taking a Rank C mission yet, he would definitely blame himself for speaking too much.
Although D-rank missions were boring, they took very little time, leaving much more time for training, and there was no danger whatsoever.
The Chunin was speechless, not knowing how to answer.
He opened his mouth several times but couldn't say anything. He looked at Renjiro, who nodded. He breathed a sigh of relief and said,
“Alright, I’ll find you a Rank C mission.”
As he went to retrieve the Rank C mission files, Renjiro said,
“Just pick a few clear-out missions near the Village. It would be even better if the bandit strongholds are relatively close.”
The Chunin nodded and began to flip through his files.
Soon, he pulled out four documents from the files and handed them to Renjiro. Renjiro read them. Then he looked at his team and said,
“Today we will undertake our first Rank C mission. Meet me at the gate in a few hours. Pack your bags for a week-long journey.”
The Genin nodded and then dispersed.
After leaving, Feng Zheng returned home to meditate. He thought to himself,
“Finally, I’m leaving this Village. So, what should I prepare? According to regulations, rations are arranged by the team leader. So food shouldn't be a problem. But I think I should still bring my existing rations, just in case. As for weapons, I still have the inventory provided by the school, and although some are damaged, they are still usable.”
“The weapons aren't enough. I should buy 12 more Shuriken and 3 kunai, which will cost 7,000 ryo. I might also buy a few Exploding Tags. This will cost most of the money I earned from missions. Hmm? Oh, right, money. I'd better bring all my money and put it in a spare pouch.”
“Of course, I also need to carry the inventory of items I purchased before. As for the swords, I'll hang them on my waist. Oh, and the wristbands, but it would be troublesome to explain where I got them. So I'll just put them in my spare pouch.”
Then he meditated for half an hour, before packing his bags and leaving home.
He had a leg pouch on his right leg. Inside were 6 Shuriken and 2 kunai. Additionally, hidden within a Sealing Jutsu inside were 48 Shuriken, 6 ordinary kunai, and 6 kunai with Exploding Tags.
Around his waist, he wore a pouch. Inside were 8 Shuriken, 3 kunai, and a small scroll.
The scroll contained basic items such as rope, tape, metal wire, and a first-aid kit.
The pouch also had 7 storage seals, one of which contained a spare pouch and leg pouch.
Another seal held his rations. There was also an additional first-aid kit inside.
The fourth seal contained several bottles filled with drinking water, and the remaining seals were temporarily empty.
Then he went to a weapon shop to buy what he wanted. After buying, he went to Ichiraku Ramen for brunch.
Then he walked to the main gate and sat on a branch of a nearby tree.
Hodaka and Mieko arrived about 15 minutes before the agreed time. Upon arriving, they both saw Feng Zheng and walked over. Feng Zheng thought to himself,
“Wow, this is really exciting.”
Renjiro arrived five minutes after them.
Renjiro asked,
“Are you ready?”
Everyone answered in unison,
“Ready, Sensei.”
Renjiro took out three scrolls from his bag and tossed one to each of them. They thought to themselves,
“What's in the scrolls?”
Renjiro said,
“These are my gifts to you. Each scroll contains 100 Shuriken, 24 kunai, 6 giant Shuriken, 12 Exploding Tags, and 60 packs of rations with a shelf life of 12 months. Feng Zheng, your scroll also has a few spare swords, though they are not as good as your current ones. I don't know what rules they taught you, but this is the minimum you should carry when leaving the Village.”
The children were somewhat surprised by the gift, especially Feng Zheng. His mind went blank as he quickly calculated.
“100 -> 300 -> 100k. 24 -> 72 -> 72k. 6 -> 18 -> 54k. 12 -> 36 -> 27k. These are worth over 250,000 ryo! And that doesn't include the swords and rations. Did I wrong him by calling him shameless?”
Everyone quickly thanked Renjiro for the gift.
Renjiro continued,
“Although these are from me, from now on, you are responsible for replenishing these supplies yourselves. So don't waste them, and replenish them after completing missions. Of course, don't be stingy either; your lives and missions are more important than these things.”
All three children nodded.
Then they left the Village. Renjiro said,
“Our mission is to clear out some bandit bases around Sukura Town, northwest of Konoha.”
He then asked,
“Are the pressure seals you wore during training activated?”
All three children nodded. Renjiro said,
“Release them. Never activate training pressure seals outside of Konoha. You don't know who out there might want to kill you, and these seals could be the cause of your death.”
Feng Zheng and Mieko nodded, but Hodaka asked,
“But Sensei, can't you protect us from such dangers? It seems like a waste not to train our bodies during this journey.”
Renjiro shook his head and said,
“There are many Ninja in this world stronger than me, and many hidden Ninjutsu. Even I cannot protect you from every sneak attack. You need to dodge or block attacks yourselves.”
Hodaka nodded and released the seals.
Renjiro continued,
“Since that's the case, let's run. We'll advance in a kite formation. Feng Zheng, you lead; Mieko on the right; Hodaka on the left; and I'll be at the back. Hurry! Let's try to get there in a few hours.”
Upon receiving the instructions, they immediately entered the formation. Feng Zheng stood at the front. Mieko stood about two meters behind him and to his left. Hodaka did the same, but to the right.
Renjiro stood about six meters behind Feng Zheng. Then the team began to move forward at high speed, maintaining these distances.
At 3 PM, the team arrived at Sukura Town. Upon entering the town, Renjiro said,
“We'll carry out the mission tomorrow. For now, let's find an inn and rest.”
The children nodded and followed him. Feng Zheng noticed along the way, thinking,
“Hmm, this town feels a bit familiar. But I can't remember where I saw it. Did it appear in naruto? Alas, I can barely recall any sights now.”
Renjiro led the team into the town.
Feng Zheng, Hodaka, and Mieko noticed many inns in the town. They also noticed several casinos, as well as an area with many games offering prizes to winners.
