Chapter 75: Rock, Paper, Scissors

Feng Zheng asked,

“But sensei, aren’t missions involving Ninja Rank B?”

Renjiro nodded and said,

“Yes, but only Genin level. There are many cases of people secretly unlocking their Chakra outside the Village to Genin level, and many situations where Genin defect from the Village. In short, they aren’t really considered Ninja, and often Rank C missions also involve dealing with them. After all, there are hundreds of thousands of Ninja in the world, who knows where they might be.”

The Genin nodded. Feng Zheng thought,

“Hmm, that’s a bit unexpected. But I suppose it makes sense. If the Village started rating missions that only *might* involve a rogue Genin as Rank B, then Rank C missions might not exist at all.”

The squad first drew a map of the base. The base was quite large. There was a big room in the center of the hideout. Feng Zheng suggested,

“Let’s call it the Main Room.”

The Main Room had three exits, almost equidistant. These exits connected to a large corridor that encircled the entire Main Room.

On the other side of the corridor, there were many smaller rooms. Hodaka commented,

“I think they probably use the Main Room as a communal space for planning, celebrations, and so on, while the smaller rooms are their private quarters.”

The base was full of traps, which Hodaka discovered.

Among the 5 Ninja, 3 were gathered together in the Main Room, and the other 2 were in the smaller rooms. Mieko said,

“Hmm, the two Ninja in the small rooms are both very close to the exits of the main base.”

Feng Zheng nodded and said,

“Yes, we must be careful when we kill them. If they make a loud noise, it will alert everyone in the rooms.”

Bandits were scattered throughout the base. There were a total of 4 exits leading from the hideout to the surface. 1 was in the Main Room, and 3 were outside the exits from the Main Room to the corridor.

Feng Zheng thought,

“This base is very well built. I wonder if it started small and was slowly expanded as the bandit gang grew. Or, if this base existed naturally and was just occupied by these bandits. Also, if we don’t eliminate those bandit gangs, will they also develop like this?”

Feng Zheng looked at his teammates and said,

“First, we need to decide where to launch our attack.”

Mieko replied,

“Let’s start by attacking the Main Room. After all, most of the bandits are there.”

Hodaka nodded and added,

“Yes, that way we can take care of the majority in one go, and then clean up the scattered bandits one by one.”

Feng Zheng said,

“That’s a good idea. But if we do that, the scattered bandits might find a way to escape.”

Hodaka replied,

“Yes, but we can hunt them down.”

Feng Zheng continued,

“However, hunting them down one by one would be troublesome. Especially if they all run in different directions. Moreover, if we destroy the Main Room, the bandits in other rooms will also be alerted, and the Ninja inside will receive a warning.”

Hodaka thought for a moment, then nodded in agreement. Mieko asked,

“Then what do you think is best?”

Feng Zheng pointed in one direction and said,

“This room is in a corner of the hideout, and one of the five Ninja is also in there. Let’s start with that room. We’ll ambush that Ninja first and kill him. Then we can clear the nearby rooms, and slowly infiltrate the Main Room. That way, by the time we destroy the Main Room, this direction will already be cleared, making it much easier to kill them.”

Mieko and Hodaka thought for a few seconds and agreed to the plan.

Subsequently, the Genin further discussed the details of the plan.

Once everything was ready, they checked their weapons and prepared to begin the attack. But Mieko suddenly asked,

“Wait, who will kill that Ninja?”

Hodaka quickly said,

“I can kill him.”

Mieko reprimanded him, saying,

“Why you? I can kill him too.”

Then they looked at Feng Zheng. He said,

“My sword has a longer reach, so I think I’m better suited to kill him.”

However, Hodaka and Mieko both disagreed with this logic.

The argument about killing that Ninja lasted for a minute. Renjiro looked at his Genin and sighed. Feng Zheng said,

“Alright, all three of us can kill him, so let’s decide with rock-paper-scissors.”

Hearing this, Hodaka and Mieko both looked at Feng Zheng expressionlessly. Mieko said,

“That’s too childish! We are Ninja!”

Feng Zheng sneered,

“Then do either of you two have a better idea?”

Hodaka and Mieko exchanged glances. They had no other option but to reluctantly agree.

Soon they got into position and started playing the game.

Renjiro watched with interest. The first three rounds were a draw. Feng Zheng thought,

“This is fun. I guess this is why Goku and Vegeta often do this.”

Mieko thought,

“I wonder if I’ll win… Wait a minute!”

As the three began the fourth round, Mieko’s eyes suddenly turned red.

She saw that Feng Zheng and Hodaka were both going to throw rock, so she threw paper and said,

“I win.”

Hodaka quickly protested,

“Hey, you can’t use Sharingan. That’s cheating!”

Mieko chastised him,

“Hmph, there’s no rule that says you can’t use Sharingan.”

Feng Zheng, who was about to start the mission, chuckled,

“Well, she won this time. Remember to set the rules next time.”

Seeing that he didn’t have Feng Zheng’s support, Hodaka reluctantly agreed.

Then they looked at each other and nodded. The three of them made a Hand Seals gesture and disappeared underground.

The bandit base, which was originally well-hidden and even heavily defended, was about to experience the terror of being hunted underground by a squad where every member could move freely beneath the earth.

In the underground hideout, Hirota was leisurely relaxing. He had joined the bandit gang three years ago. Before joining the bandit gang, he had already unlocked his Chakra.

After the bandit leader noticed him, he was quickly recruited and trained. Now he was one of the leaders of the gang, and even had two subordinates assisting him.

Just as Hirota was relaxing in a good mood, a hand with two fingers extended emerged from the ground.

It struck him from behind, aiming for his chest, releasing a hot line that pierced his heart, killing him instantly.

At the same time, Feng Zheng decapitated one bandit, while Hodaka used two fingers to stab the remaining bandit in the chest.

The attack had begun. All three bandits died silently.

Feng Zheng, Hodaka, and Mieko looked at each other and nodded. The two split up and headed towards the other rooms.

In less than a minute, all the rooms on this side were cleared. They had assassinated 1 bandit, including a Ninja.

Everyone gathered again and looked towards the Main Room. The bandits there were still unaware of the disaster about to befall them.
