Chapter 693: Big guy

Chapter 684: The Big Guy

Although both involved "body enlargement," the guy Wayne saw tonight was slightly different from the "Pus-Flowing King Kong" types he'd encountered before.

He didn't grow rapidly; instead, a phantom image flashed out first, then quickly solidified. Rather than "Peng Zhang," it was more like "donning a shell."

His previously timid and hesitant posture now made sense; after his body enlarged, he immediately pulled a single-edged dagger from his armpit.

"Bang!"

Sanders' kick landed on him first, but the opponent merely swayed slightly. Sanders himself was pushed back by the recoil.

This result wasn't too bad; at least it allowed him to dodge the dagger.

The few remaining Hunter bullets pierced through the carriage glass and hit the back of the opponent's knife-wielding hand. They went in, but seemed to have no effect. The dagger swung through empty air, then was raised again to approach.

Wayne had just wanted to prevent Sanders from being cut, but he also suspected the bullets hadn't hit the person inside the shell. He gripped his gun with both hands and fired a continuous volley at what should have been the opponent's head.

"Get in the carriage!"

The normally well-trained horses had already reacted when the opponent transformed, causing the entire carriage to swerve outwards.

Sanders scrambled, rolled, and jumped, dodging two dagger attacks before finally leaping back into the driver's seat at the front of the carriage. He then quickly grabbed the reins and whipped them, urging the horses to accelerate.

The carriage had been moving all along. Wayne had now "bang, bang, bang, bang" shattered about half of the glass on the carriage's outer wall.

Although the opponent seemed completely unharmed, each time he was hit, his movements were affected, causing him to hesitate for a moment.

Fortunately, this guy wasn't a speed type, otherwise the carriage might not have been able to escape.

Thinking this, Wayne turned and pulled back the carriage window curtain, intending to check on the opponent's situation.

This guy looked like the one who committed the crimes with the Sailor Gang, no doubt about it. Since there was a possibility of encountering high-level Extraordinary Persons recently, Wayne and Sanders had already made contingency plans: run if they could. Only a fool would foolishly confront them.

If they could maintain a safe distance, they would immediately fire two flares to call for reinforcements.

Anyway, if the enemy didn't move, they wouldn't move. If the enemy ran, they would follow from a distance.

As soon as the curtain was pulled back, a dagger smashed through the rear window glass and flew straight at him. Wayne quickly dodged in the opposite direction.

The dagger's aim was actually a bit off to begin with, so he probably would have been fine even if he hadn't dodged. But when Wayne saw the dagger "whoosh" through the carriage, leaving only the hilt embedded in the wall, he couldn't help but feel a pang of fear in his heart.

"Sanders, are you hurt?"

Seeing that the opponent's figure had now been pulled a certain distance away, Wayne's hands continued to work. He tucked the gun under his arm and began rummaging for flares in the carriage.

After asking, he saw that the opponent's hands were empty at the moment, so Wayne even found time to stick out his tongue and make a face—he didn't dare to block or approach rashly, so he could only use other methods to draw aggro, lest the guy escape.

"I'm fine."

Sanders' movements were even faster; a flare had already "whooshed" into the sky.

The broken carriage glass wasn't entirely without its benefits. Wayne reached out slightly, and the second flare immediately flew up as well.

"Slow down! Let's take another look. This guy doesn't seem to have long-range attack capabilities. Maybe we can stall until others arrive."

No sooner had Wayne finished speaking than the big guy with the white mask on his face pulled out another knife from his armpit. This time it wasn't a dagger, but a large machete, about an arm's length and a palm's width.

What kind of Extraordinary ability is this, a built-in armory?

If you're so capable, conjure a horse next!

He put the pistol aside and pulled out the bolt-action rifle from under the seat. While the opponent seemed to be frozen in place, Wayne took the opportunity to charge the larger Hunter bullets.

When he felt it was ready, he pulled back the bolt, loaded it, and then "click" prepared to aim.

Wayne had done kiting in the West, so he was quite familiar with it now.

Heh, I'll just bully you short-ranged guys.

At worst, let you keep throwing knives.

The gun barrel extended out the rear window of the carriage. Although the remote area at night had almost no light, and even the carriage needed to hang kerosene lamps, the big guy was always particularly easy to aim at, and wearing a white mask, the faint moonlight was enough.

"Bang!"

His shoulder, braced against the gunstock, was pushed back. The muzzle spat fire into the night, and then Wayne realized,

Where the hell is he?!

"Boss, watch out!"

The carriage also braked sharply at this moment. The horses seemed to be rearing and neighing. Fortunately, they had already slowed down, otherwise Wayne thought he might have been thrown directly out the rear window.

Before he could ask for details, a large machete pierced through the carriage wall and chopped in. The carriage quickly accelerated and made a sharp turn on the empty road. It felt like the horses had stepped onto the wild ground beside the road. Only after the carriage's rear spun around did Wayne see that the big, white-masked idiot had instantly appeared close by at this end of the road.

What kind of person is this? Isn't teleportation a bit much?

Sanders no longer dared to maintain a low speed. The carriage quickly accelerated again, turning back towards where they had just encountered this guy.

Wayne was a little worried that the opponent could use the same trick again. While reloading, he shouted from inside the carriage: "Be careful he doesn't fly back! This guy is not easy to deal with. Let's try to circle around this area, don't lead him to crowded places."

"Yes!"

The gun barrel was propped back on the seatback. Wayne's free hand was still fumbling for high explosives under the seat. Once found, he placed them on the seat for backup.

This guy felt both strong and weak; he didn't know what kind of trick he was pulling, and he might have other Extraordinary abilities.

"Bang!"

Another shot went off. This time the feel was even worse than before. The previous shot at least seemed to hit a person, but this time it was a complete miss, the bullet head directly sparking on the ground.

Wayne was experienced this time. He crouched down, anticipating a sudden brake. Half-kneeling and huddled on the seat, he quickly lit the fuse of the high explosives.

However, Sanders didn't brake suddenly. Instead, the carriage roof directly collapsed. Fortunately, Wayne reacted in time. His shoulder took a slight hit from dodging, but before the opponent could find a foothold, he shoved the item into the opponent's arms in mid-air, then pushed the big guy entirely out of the carriage.

"Speed up!"

Wayne said, while also reaching for the door frame. One of the opponent's hands was still gripping it. Wayne poured his spiritual power into it, and even a section of the carriage wall exploded.

The big guy's figure rolled backward with inertia onto the sparks, followed by a "boom!"
