Chapter 5: Business at your door

Seeing Jiang Zhibin drink so much more fiercely than before, the few who misunderstood him to be drowning his sorrows in alcohol tentatively asked, "You haven't run into anything lately, have you?"

Although Jiang Zhibin hadn't mentioned the closure of his family's factory at the end of last year to the three of them.

But having lived together in the same dorm for two and a half years, Fang Zewei and the other two could still tell that Jiang Zhibin had been preoccupied during that period.

The three of them had also tried to subtly inquire, but Jiang Zhibin had brushed them off with a few evasive words.

Everyone has their privacy, and since Jiang Zhibin was unwilling to speak, the three of them found it difficult to press him for details.

Now, seeing Jiang Zhibin's abnormal behavior of chugging alcohol while belting out high notes, his three mischievous friends couldn't help but worry if Jiang Zhibin had encountered something.

"If you really ran into something, just say it. The three of us can see if we can help."

"You haven't gotten your heart broken again, have you? If so, tell us. With the three of us strategists here, there's no woman you can't win over."

"Exactly."

Although the four of them usually only teased each other, it was hard to hear a kind word from any of them.

But now, hearing the concern from the three of them, coupled with a little alcohol stimulation, it deeply moved Jiang Zhibin, who had endured two major ups and downs in his life over the past few months, even making his nose feel a bit sore.

They say that after entering society, it's hard to make friends, and even colleagues who have worked together for several years at a company will become strangers after leaving.

Jiang Zhibin hadn't stepped into society yet, so he didn't know if this was true.

But if what the internet said was true, then the three people in front of him were most likely the last three pure friends he could make.

Thinking of this, Jiang Zhibin also made up his mind that if the environment was indeed bad after graduation and he started to prosper with the system's help, he would do his best to help these three sworn brothers.

"What could possibly happen to me?"

Jiang Zhibin didn't act coy on the surface, even giving the three of them a feigned disdainful glance:

"Besides, do the three of you even remember the last time you held hands with a girl? And you want to be my strategists?"

"You beast!"

Jiang Zhibin's words deeply hurt the three young men who were in their prime, with budding romantic feelings but nowhere to vent them.

"Damn it! I shouldn't have even asked!"

"I'm playing with you now, I'll chop you to death, you grandson!"

Stimulated by Jiang Zhibin's words, the atmosphere returned to normal, and the sounds of dice cups, wine glasses, and death metal music once again filled the private room.

Because of his recent sharp tongue, the three roommates united against Jiang Zhibin.

Although beer doesn't have a high alcohol content, Jiang Zhibin, who rarely drank, quickly felt his head begin to swell under the trio's onslaught:

"You guys play first, I'm going to the restroom."

Ye Su evidently still remembered the previous grudge. Seeing Jiang Zhibin trying to make a bathroom escape, he immediately seized the opportunity to mock, "Little brother, your combat power isn't up to par."

Jiang Zhibin gave him the middle finger, then retreated into the restroom for refuge.

"News so soon?"

After using the restroom, sitting on the toilet and opening his phone, Jiang Zhibin saw that several people had already messaged him on the second-hand platform, he didn't know when.

Jiang Zhibin had originally prepared for the watch to be listed on the second-hand platform for a long time, but he didn't expect to start receiving messages after just one day.

"Monsoon Tamer: Will you sell it for three thousand?"

"Hardcore Poet: How about I buy the watch for four thousand?"

"Hardcore Poet: You've already handled this item, so it definitely won't sell for six thousand. I'm only offering four thousand because the item's condition is still good."

"..."

Opening the app and clicking on several messages in a row, Jiang Zhibin realized that everyone who messaged him was trying to haggle him down.

Sure enough, upon opening these people's information, he saw that some accounts also had a dazzling array of items listed, clearly indicating they were professional bargain hunters and resellers.

The advantage of dealing with these people is that they are direct and don't waste time; once the price is agreed upon and the item is confirmed to be fine, the transaction can proceed.

However, the downside is that they also need to make money, so their asking prices are naturally lower than those of direct buyers.

Although the item was a free find, Jiang Zhibin didn't want to be taken for a fool, and since he couldn't out-haggle these people, he simply chose not to reply to their messages.

"Don't Want to Sleep: Hello, is the watch authentic?"

"Don't Want to Sleep: Are you sure the watch is brand new and hasn't been worn by anyone?"

"Hmm?"

Seeing the last message, Jiang Zhibin was a bit confused.

Even if I were selling fakes, if you asked me that, I'd still say it's genuine, wouldn't I?

With a hint of speechlessness, Jiang Zhibin replied to the other party:

"It's genuine. I bought it intending to give it as a gift, but now I don't need to. I'm a man, and I can't wear it, so I want to sell it."

After sending the message, Jiang Zhibin thought the other party wouldn't reply and was about to close the app, but unexpectedly, his phone suddenly vibrated.

"Don't Want to Sleep: If it's convenient, can we find a time to see it?"

"Yes, I'm usually free in the evenings and on weekends. Let me know when you're available, and you can come to Lingnan Subway Station."

"Don't Want to Sleep: It just so happens I'm not far. How about tomorrow afternoon around three o'clock, we meet at Exit D of Lingnan Subway Station?"

"OK."

After agreeing on a time and checking that the message had been read, the other party didn't reply again, so Jiang Zhibin turned off his phone and left the restroom.

"Finally willing to come out. You were so quiet for so long, I thought you fell into the toilet."

"Fell my ass, keep going!"

"Bring it on! Tonight, I'll show you who's whose daddy!"

In the end, they were just a few young lads pretending to be socialites; before coming, each of them claimed they would fight until dawn.

But from nine to past eleven, all four had already given up, with half a case of beer still remaining unconsumed.

"That's enough, let's head back."

"Alright, let's go."

"Don't leave anything behind. Did you all get your phones and stuff?"

"Got them all."

Since they paid for them, the leftover beer naturally wasn't given to the KTV.

Anyway, if it stayed there, they wouldn't drink it again and it would just expire.

As they left, the four of them took the clean bags from the fried skewers and duck neck, packing up the remaining beer to take with them.

They weren't sure if riding bicycles counted as drunk driving, and taking a taxi was out of the question, so the four of them simply walked back to school.

It must be said, the happiness of student life truly is simple.

With a few friends, spending about a hundred yuan each for a night out could bring immense joy.

By the time the four of them reached the dormitory building, it was already midnight.

"Ding!"

The remaining three-tenths of Jiang Zhibin's drunkenness from walking just now vanished instantly with the sudden system notification sound.

"Today's Intel (Level 1): There are two dropped one-hundred-yuan banknotes in the small forest next to the teaching building area."

Two hundred yuan?

In this day and age, there's still cash to be found?

But then again, it was just after the New Year, so it was normal for people to have some cash in their pockets.

Jiang Zhibin just couldn't figure out why the money would be in the small forest near the teaching building in the middle of the night.

Never mind, he'd go pick it up first.

It was so late, the money certainly wouldn't be picked up by others, but it would be funny if it got blown away by the wind.

"You guys go upstairs first, I'll walk around for a bit more before heading back."

"You've walked so much already, aren't you tired of walking?"

"Yeah, I'll wander a bit more, then I'll head up."

"Alright."

The three of them didn't think much of it, took the beer from Jiang Zhibin's hand, and went upstairs.
