Chapter 4: The Right Choice
After Han Xiaozhou and Park Zhengting left, Kwon Xuanhe, still in the hospital room, was pondering over the unexpected golden finger he had acquired.
When he shook Han Xiaozhou's hand, it was a physical contact that triggered his golden finger, allowing him to obtain information related to her.
If he touched a script, he would get fragmented information related to the script; if he touched a person, he would get future information related to that person.
Kwon Xuanhe thought for a long time and finally concluded.
Touching a script was a point, touching a person was a line. Connecting points to form lines, and countless lines converging to form a surface, would give him the greatest grasp of his future development.
Clearly, touching people would be better.
That, in turn, brought up a series of related questions.
Would it be triggered just by touching any person?
How far into the future would the perceived information be? A few months? A few years?
If that were the case, wouldn't he be able to foresee the future?
The more he thought, the more expansive it became. Kwon Xuanhe felt there were too many directions he could extend and expand upon.
Finally, thinking endlessly, he came to a conclusion.
Practice makes perfect.
He still had too much to explore. He was still young and had ample time to try.
Of course, Kwon Xuanhe naturally wouldn't stake his entire fortune on this ethereal sixth sense, which might come and go and disappear at any time.
He himself was his greatest confidence!
"What are you thinking about?"
Park Zhengting, who had seen Han Xiaozhou off, returned to the ward and asked when he saw Kwon Xuanhe deep in thought.
"I'm thinking about my bright future."
Kwon Xuanhe said so.
"What are you thinking? Do you think you can succeed just by this one accident, hoping to cling to Han Xiaozhou?"
Park Zhengting shook his head, wondering what beautiful dream he was having.
Could he succeed just by relying on Han Xiaozhou for resources this time? What a pipe dream.
"Indeed, if things go smoothly, I really might succeed."
Kwon Xuanhe nodded, his expression serious.
"Did you hit your head too hard?"
Park Zhengting saw him like this, looked at his head from side to side, and was full of suspicion.
"Just kidding."
Kwon Xuanhe smiled and shook his head.
The two were clearly not on the same wavelength logically, and he didn't need to explain what was happening to him.
Otherwise, the probability of being sent for treatment or even to a mental hospital was far greater than the probability of Park Zhengting believing him.
It was better if he kept this secret to himself.
"Get some good rest. Take a good look at which scripts to choose, and then prepare for auditions."
"Oh, right, I also signed you up for an acting class with a professional teacher from Central University's School of Performing Arts. I'll send you the details; remember to attend."
Park Zhengting was busy and prepared to leave after giving him these instructions.
"Wait."
Kwon Xuanhe called out to him.
"Is there anything else?"
Park Zhengting turned back, puzzled.
"Does my mom know about this?"
Kwon Xuanhe feigned a serious tone and grabbed Park Zhengting's arm, then, feeling that his inexplicable sixth sense wasn't triggered, he quietly let go.
"If you dare tell your mom about this, you wouldn't be here right now; she would have taken you out of Korea long ago."
Park Zhengting was clearly afraid that his mother would find out about this, otherwise he would be scolded mercilessly.
"Alright."
Watching Park Zhengting leave, he confirmed that his sixth sense wasn't triggered just by touching anyone; it had an element of uncertainty.
Looking out at the clear sky, Kwon Xuanhe let out a long breath, then looked down at the stack of scripts in front of him, continuing his golden finger experiment.
However, one message after another and phone calls that came shortly after interrupted his progress.
Looking at the incoming call, Kwon Xuanhe thought for a moment and answered the phone.
"It's fine, I'm not that sad."
"Next? Next, I'm going to develop as an actor."
"In a few days, I don't have time these days. Let's meet when I'm free."
"Besides, I have some popularity now, aren't you afraid of being photographed if we go out?"
"Alright, let's meet when I have time."
Kwon Xuanhe hung up the phone when they had talked enough.
This was one of the female friends he made during his trainee period.
By the way, to clarify, although he participated in the audition program using a shell company, Park Zhengting actually used his own abilities to get him into S.M. Entertainment for training.
Therefore, he stayed at S.M. Entertainment for a full four months, effectively being a semi-S.M. Entertainment trainee, which was enough time for him to meet many people.
...
After signing the settlement agreement and neatly resolving all matters related to the car accident, Kwon Xuanhe, after many days of recuperation, finally left the hospital.
He took a long, deep breath of fresh air, preparing for his upcoming grand display.
A new car slowly appeared before his eyes. His uncle, Park Zhengting, rolled down the window, signaling him to get in.
No need to think, the damaged car was still being repaired.
"Are you sure you're choosing this one?"
In the car, Park Zhengting, knowing his final decision, frowned and asked.
"That's right, I'm choosing this one."
Kwon Xuanhe pulled out the script he had chosen and waved it at Park Zhengting.
"unexpected discovery of the day"
This was a webtoon adaptation, a school romance drama. It tells the story of a high school girl who realizes she is just a supporting character in a school comic, rebels against her predetermined fate, and finds love.
This story involved the so-called fourth wall, so the setting was novel and interesting, and the original webtoon was quite popular.
Park Zhengting shook his head, explaining the pros and cons to him.
"I don't really recommend you choose this one."
"Although it's a webtoon adaptation."
Korean adaptations of webtoons are similar to domestic adaptations of novels, generally having a stable audience.
"But this drama is co-produced by Raemongraein and MBC TV Station, and this company hasn't produced many successful dramas before."
"The most famous one would be the drama adaptation of "My Sassy Girl," but it only had a mediocre response."
"Director Kim Sang-seop's professional ability is fine, but he hasn't directed a successful drama. His last moderately well-received work was four years ago."
"The scheduled broadcast slot is also the Wednesday-Thursday slot, which is currently an ordinary or even unpopular slot, starting at a disadvantage compared to other slots."
"Most importantly, this is a cast almost entirely of new actors, and the screenwriter is practically a newcomer. Aside from the popularity brought by the webtoon, there aren't many factors for success."
This is where Park Zhengting's professional ability was evident; he explained all the intricate details clearly.
Furthermore, what most people didn't know was that while MBC TV Station was one of the three major broadcasting stations at the time, in terms of dramas, MBC had already fallen behind other TV stations, no longer enjoying the prosperity of a few years prior.
It could even be said that MBC TV Station was in decline.
Kwon Xuanhe understood all of Park Zhengting's analysis, but he knew that after this drama aired, it wouldn't be as terrible and hopeless as Park Zhengting described.
Don't forget he had a sixth sense.
