Chapter 285: Tour Preparations
The Double-I War was the last comeback highlight of 2020. What was coming next were the annual year-end ceremonies.
For the Double-I War, all of DM Entertainment’s groups, except NMIXX, including aespa, had their comebacks held back. Now that the Double-I War had concluded, various groups and artists were expected to make their comebacks sequentially.
DM Entertainment, President's Office.
Li Duohui sat at her desk, reviewing the comeback plans brought by Kim Hye-soo. Kim Hye-soo sat on the sofa, making tea for herself with the tea leaves on the coffee table.
“Is President Li’s tea Longjing?” Kim Hye-soo asked casually, looking at the unfamiliar Chinese characters on the tea box.
“Probably? I got it from the Chairman’s office,” Li Duohui replied without looking up.
Kim Hye-soo couldn’t help but laugh at her words.
“Since it’s from the Chairman, it must be very good tea.”
“That’s what I thought too,” Li Duohui echoed. “I don’t see any problems with the group’s comeback plans, but is it appropriate to have concentrated comebacks again?”
“There’s no choice. I don’t want concentrated comebacks, but the Chairman requires us to start the tour plans for various groups next year, so comebacks have to make way for tours.” Kim Hye-soo also had something to say. While it was true she was the Art Director, she still had to listen to the Chairman.
“Alright,” Li Duohui nodded. “Have the comeback production teams been finalized?”
“Not yet. Jeon Soyeon is busy with (G)I-DLE’s debut, and I can’t command the Chairman. With the company’s two main producers unavailable, the remaining few can only be responsible for the production of at most two groups.” Kim Hye-soo also had a headache.
Originally, with Tian Xiaojuan around, she wouldn't have needed to bother Jiang Shu. But now Tian Xiaojuan was busy with her debut and stretched thin. As for Jiang Shu… he was the Chairman. When his laziness acted up, no one could force him.
“I’ll talk to the Chairman. If he doesn’t put in effort for a collective comeback, it won’t be fully realized,” Li Duohui said, shaking her head.
“Then I’ll rely on you, President,” Kim Hye-soo said with a smile. She wished someone would take her place.
Although their Chairman was easy to talk to, that was only in comparison to artists, where he had no airs. In front of their executives, Jiang Shu’s demands were very strict.
She had heard some rumors that Li Duohui had previously been warned by the Chairman for being a bit light-fingered.
Tsk, she wondered what happened.
Kim Hye-soo thought to herself while rinsing the tea leaves again.
The habits of leadership would, to a large extent, subtly influence the entire company’s management.
Jiang Shu always used tea to entertain guests, to the point where every executive office had tea leaves, and they were all famous domestic teas.
Over time, the executives also learned how to brew tea.
“As for the tours… should IZONE go first?” Li Duohui put down the documents in her hand and asked Kim Hye-soo.
“Don’t, right?” Kim Hye-soo paused, then turned to Li Duohui. “I think ITZY should go first. ITZY’s concert live performance will be very good.”
“Then… according to debut order?” Li Duohui thought for a moment and said.
“If it’s debut order…” Kim Hye-soo pondered for a moment. “That could work.”
“Then let’s hold an executive meeting to discuss it.”
Although such matters could be approved if she and Kim Hye-soo agreed, it was a large project after all, requiring cooperation from various departments, and the opinions of other executives also needed to be considered.
For example, if you approved it, but the finance department said they had no money, what would you do? Could you still execute the project under the pressure of no funds?
“Okay.” Kim Hye-soo poured herself a cup of brewed tea. “I suddenly remembered something. Will the Chairman still be the Best Producer at this year’s year-end ceremony?”
“Definitely,” Li Duohui stood up from her desk. “Although Jeon Soyeon is excellent, there’s still quite a gap between her and the Chairman.”
“Genius is just the threshold to see the Chairman.”
“The genius in the eyes of ordinary people is called the Chairman’s genius.”
Li Duohui looked at Kim Hye-soo strangely.
“You have a knack for saying these things. Where did you learn them?”
“Online,” Kim Hye-soo said with a smile. “Many fans say very interesting things that give me quite a bit of inspiration.”
“The Chairman is the same; he likes to read fan comments,” Li Duohui said helplessly. “He even reads malicious comments.”
“Maybe the Chairman is watching clowns?” Kim Hye-soo said with a laugh.
“Perhaps the Chairman is an M,” Li Duohui said with a chuckle.
Kim Hye-soo burst out laughing at Li Duohui’s sudden remark.
As expected of a young person, their thinking was so agile.
Yes, a young person.
Compared to Kim Hye-soo, who was already in her forties, Li Duohui, who was still striving towards forty, was indeed a “young person.”
“Are Taeyeon and IU touring?” Kim Hye-soo suddenly changed the subject and asked.
“No,” Li Duohui immediately replied.
“I thought so too,” Kim Hye-soo nodded. “Next, IU will still be chasing Lee Sun-mi, right?”
“Hmm,” Li Duohui nodded. “The Chairman requires IU to surpass Kim Hyun-a and Lee Sun-mi.”
“Only these two?”
“The Chairman probably has other targets he hasn’t mentioned, but if he doesn’t say, I can’t think of anyone else,” Li Duohui said, shrugging her shoulders.
“Besides these two, who else is worth targeting?” Kim Hye-soo was also puzzled. Weren’t these the two biggest female soloists?
“If I knew, I would have said it directly,” Li Duohui said helplessly.
The two looked at each other, and Li Duohui took the opportunity to sit down on the sofa.
“Give me a cup.”
Upon hearing this, Kim Hye-soo poured a cup of tea and handed it to Li Duohui.
“Where’s the Chairman?” Kim Hye-soo asked.
“He went to play golf. I just came back from there,” Li Duohui replied, taking a sip of tea.
“The Chairman seems to be quite fond of playing golf recently,” Kim Hye-soo said in surprise.
“It’s good, too, so he doesn’t squat in the company all day making me report on work,” Li Duohui said, shaking her head.
Kim Hye-soo nodded in deep agreement.
When Jiang Shu was at the company, he often required them, the executives, to report on their work. One or two times was fine, but as long as he was at the company, there was a task to report on work. This made the executives very helpless, but they couldn’t refuse.
When Jiang Shu didn’t come to the company, they, the executives, were the happiest. Those few months when Jiang Shu went back to China were their best times; they could do whatever they wanted, only needing to report progress remotely. Unlike now, where they had to report everything they did.
“Oh, by the way, the (G)I-DLE members have almost finished practicing their debut song. Do you want to go and see?” Kim Hye-soo invited.
“Forget it, you let the Chairman go,” Li Duohui said, shaking her head. “I have a pile of things here.”
“Tsk,” Kim Hye-soo clicked her tongue. “With great power comes great responsibility, fighting!”
Li Duohui couldn’t help but roll her eyes.
