Chapter 315: A Realistic Choice
After exiting the ward, Su Xueyun spoke.
“Representative, what did you and Chairman Jiang mean by your conversation? Why did Chairman Jiang not agree to even one resource just now, but then he relented after you mentioned giving it to NMIXX?”
An Youheng’s pace remained unchanged, and a broad smile still adorned his face.
“Director Su, you’re new to the company, so there’s a lot you’re not clear on. The group NMIXX is jointly operated by DM Entertainment and JYP Entertainment. Of our four resources, one is reserved by Big Hit, and two are reserved by JYP. Since JYP is currently focusing all its efforts on developing NMIXX, those two resources naturally belong to NMIXX.”
“We still traded that one resource to DM Entertainment, but the two resources belonging to JYP will eventually go to NMIXX. So, rounding up, it still counts as resources given to NMIXX.”
“Chairman Jiang is well aware of our resource allocation. Therefore, he was just waiting, waiting for me to voluntarily offer one of the two resources originally meant for JYP to him.”
“But in that case, DM Entertainment didn’t get anything extra, so why bother?” Su Xueyun asked, puzzled.
“Wasn’t Wu Haiyuan there?”
Su Xueyun froze. Wu Haiyuan? The girl next to Bae Joo-hyun? She was there…
Su Xueyun’s eyes lit up.
“You mean, to win people over?”
“Exactly.” An Youheng gave Su Xueyun an admiring look. This new Deputy Director of Finance was quite good.
“In our circle, artists are tools. Management doesn’t care about artists’ emotions, but DM Entertainment is an exception.” At this, An Youheng couldn’t help but sigh with emotion.
“Jiang Shu is a special person. His attitude towards artists is unique, and he often makes gestures to take care of artists to win people over. After this, even though NMIXX is jointly operated with JYP, the artists’ hearts will be firmly tied to DM Entertainment.”
“Perhaps that’s why, after IVE disbanded, the members were willing to return to being trainees just to stay at DM Entertainment.”
“At DM Entertainment, they could feel like real people, not just commodities that could be traded at any time.”
Su Xueyun looked at An Youheng strangely upon hearing this.
You know everything, don’t you?
Then why don’t you emulate him?
Thinking of this, Su Xueyun asked exactly that.
“We can’t do it.” An Youheng shook his head and said, “Jiang Shu can do that because he’s willing to sacrifice profit. If you treat artists as people, you have to give them corresponding benefits. Otherwise, what’s the difference between a commodity and a person in the workplace? Just relying on so-called personal respect? That only plays a supporting role. The real way is to throw money at them.”
“You could originally earn ten billion, but if you treat artists as people, you can only earn five billion. Would you do that?”
“No!”
There was no hesitation; even a second of hesitation would be disrespectful to money.
What artists thought was none of her business. The money earned went into her own pocket.
Thinking of this, Su Xueyun finally understood her cousin’s uniqueness.
“Chairman Jiang… he’s extraordinary!” Su Xueyun couldn’t help but exclaim.
“You’ll have plenty more dealings with him in the future. His uniqueness isn’t limited to just this.” An Youheng said with a chuckle.
“Then I’ll have to look forward to it.”
Meanwhile, in the ward, Jiang Shu also explained to the equally puzzled Bae Joo-hyun and Hae Won why he did what he did.
Yes, and Hae Won.
Jiang Shu directly told Hae Won that he was using this resource to make her and NMIXX, who she represented, feel a stronger sense of belonging to the company.
“You’ve been with JYP for a long time, so you’re more likely to favor JYP over the company, but I still want to tell you that DM is your home.”
Looking at the Chairman’s serious expression, Hae Won pursed her lips, unsure what to say for a moment.
JYP treated them very well, investing all kinds of resources into them, but DM Entertainment also treated them equally well. Every time they went to the company, it was a completely different feeling from being at JYP.
Unlike aespa, who were wholeheartedly devoted to DM Entertainment, NMIXX’s members actually faced a dilemma.
Should they stay at JYP in the future or return to DM?
This was a very realistic question.
“Alright.” Jiang Shu waved his hand with a chuckle. “It’s over. You should go attend to your business.”
This was a polite dismissal.
Hae Won bowed to Jiang Shu and then left. She couldn’t make a decision on her own and planned to discuss it with the members so they could deliberate together.
Bae Joo-hyun escorted Hae Won to the door before returning.
She looked at Jiang Shu, who was eating a bag of snacks, and hesitated, but finally spoke.
“Perhaps the effect would have been better if you hadn’t told Hae Won.”
Such a direct declaration that he was trying to win people over, in Bae Joo-hyun’s opinion, would greatly diminish the effect.
“An Youheng is no saint. He was used by me this time, and when we cooperate with JYP, he’ll probably try to trip me up.”
“Since that’s the case, I might as well be direct with Hae Won, clearly explain the pros and cons, and let them discuss it among themselves.”
“Park Jin-young treats artists very well, but I don’t believe he can be as good as I am.” Jiang Shu said confidently.
Bae Joo-hyun nodded in agreement.
Park Jin-young’s approachable image was only for the screen. His beloved TWICE didn’t exist, and NMIXX wasn’t his “direct disciple.” His current kindness to NMIXX was simply because he had no other choice. His attitude towards NMIXX was completely different from how Jiang Shu remembered him treating TWICE.
And while Jiang Shu’s idol filter had shattered, he was undeniably good to his artists. As long as you didn’t make mistakes, Jiang Shu’s tolerance was quite high.
“Do you want to act?” Jiang Shu looked at Bae Joo-hyun and asked abruptly.
“Huh?” Bae Joo-hyun looked at Jiang Shu blankly. So sudden?
“I’ve already arranged Ji-eun’s acting career. It’s not time for her to play a lead role yet, but a script from Cube is not to be refused. If possible, we could let you try it out.”
“I forgot to ask for the script’s name.” Jiang Shu shook his head helplessly and said.
“I’ll pass.” Bae Joo-hyun hesitated for a moment but still chose to refuse.
Of course, she was willing to be an actress, but starting with a lead role…
She was afraid of being criticized.
Bae Joo-hyun was quite concerned about negative comments, so even if she was interested in acting, she wasn’t willing to start with a lead role.
“Alright.” Jiang Shu nodded. If Bae Joo-hyun wasn’t willing, then so be it. He could always sell it later and make a profit.
Thinking this, Jiang Shu sent a message to Su Xueyun, not bothering to ask An Youheng, lest the old fox think he was interested and seize the opportunity to raise the price, causing other complications.
Su Xueyun, on the other hand, didn’t mind. Anyway, she wouldn’t tell An Youheng.
Shortly after Jiang Shu sent his message, Su Xueyun’s message came through.
Su Xueyun: “Hotel Del Luna”
Jiang Shu: “???”
