Chapter 32: The Hidden Dragon and Phoenix
"When are the three of them coming over?" Jiang Shu asked.
"We haven't scheduled a time yet; we need your approval."
Sun (Minister of Personnel) wanted Jiang Shu to personally conduct the interviews, but he wouldn't make the decision for Jiang Shu.
"Then make it as soon as possible. I don't have anything planned today; I'll be at the company all day," Jiang Shu said after some thought.
He still hadn't finished the blueprint for the concept group he promised Min Xizhen. He was rushing to meet the "deadline" these past few days. The sooner he sent it to Min Xizhen, the sooner he could start sweet-talking her.
"Alright, I'll have Sun (Minister of Personnel) contact them right away."
Jiang Shu nodded upon hearing this.
After Choi Ji-yeon left, Jiang Shu woke his sleeping computer and continued to compile the grand blueprint for the concept group.
He didn't understand concepts, but he knew how to paint a grand picture and boast!
...
3 PM, Chairman's Office.
Jiang Shu looked at the two people across his desk, holding their resumes.
"Who is Qin Zhen?" Jiang Shu asked, looking at the first resume.
The man on the left, well-proportioned, slightly shorter, and estimated to be under 1.8 meters tall, raised his hand.
"Director Jiang, I am Qin Zhen!"
"Your team was responsible for our IVE's promotional work last time?" Jiang Shu asked, looking at Qin Zhen in surprise.
"Ah, that's right!" Qin Zhen grinned widely and responded cheerfully.
Qin Zhen, the leader of a domestic 'water army' (online astroturfing group). Previously, when DM Entertainment didn't have money to promote IVE, they hired a 'water army,' and it was Qin Zhen's team.
"What made you think of applying for a position in our DM Entertainment's Public Relations Department?" Jiang Shu asked curiously.
Running a 'water army' must be profitable, right?
"I won't hide it from you, the reason is that every Chinese New Year, my parents tell me that my job isn't very auspicious and isn't something to be proud of, so they tell me to change jobs. But I've been in this line of work for years, and I can't do anything else, so I've been stuck."
"Last month, your company contacted me for promotional work, and the cooperation was very pleasant. When I saw that your company was recruiting talent for public relations, I thought I'd come and try."
"If I get the job, then we'll be considered 'recruited.' Normally, we're a 'water army,' but once recruited, we're public relations," Qin Zhen said cheerfully.
Jiang Shu: "..."
So, it's about recruitment, after all.
He lowered his head, looking at Qin Zhen's impressive resume, then looked up at him again.
"With your resume, you should be able to get a job at a domestic entertainment company, right?"
Qin Zhen had participated in quite a few projects.
"No," Qin Zhen shook his head and gave a wry smile. "Domestic entertainment companies value background more, and they have deep cooperation with media companies, so their demand for us isn't high. They only call us when needed and won't keep a team of public relations personnel on staff."
Jiang Shu nodded in understanding.
That's true. Domestic entertainment companies mostly outsource their public relations, keeping only a small part in-house and not fully entrusting it to their own PR team.
This also reflects an imperfect industry development.
"To be honest, with your resume, you're overqualified for us. Our DM Entertainment is very poor and can't offer you a high salary," Jiang Shu said frankly.
"It's fine," Qin Zhen said cheerfully. "I still have about ten brothers under me. As long as Director Jiang can take all of us, the treatment according to the Korean market rates will be fine."
Jiang Shu looked at Qin Zhen and smiled.
"You'll have to learn Korean."
"Of course!"
Jiang Shu stood up and extended his right hand to Qin Zhen.
Qin Zhen happily shook hands with Jiang Shu.
"This must be Liu Qi," Jiang Shu sat back down and looked at the plump man with glasses on the other side.
"Greetings, Director Jiang," Liu Qi pushed up his glasses and bowed to Jiang Shu.
"We're all Chinese; there's no need for this Korean bowing etiquette," Jiang Shu waved his hand. "I see from your information... you're a computer expert?"
"I'm a hacker. You can call me van," Liu Qi corrected.
Jiang Shu: "..."
Is 'hacker' such a glorious term?
"Director Jiang, don't mind him. He's just like that, a bit stubborn, but his skills are excellent. We've known each other for over ten years; I can vouch for him!" Qin Zhen said from the side.
Jiang Shu nodded.
"Your resume indeed looks excellent. Since Qin Zhen vouches for you, I can arrange for him to join, but not as Deputy Head of Department."
"That's fine, as long as I'm in the same department as Brother Qin," Liu Qi said.
Jiang Shu nodded.
"That's not a problem."
Since Qin Zhen brought his own team, the Head of Department position would definitely go to him, but Liu Qi couldn't be given the Deputy Head of Department position.
Fortunately, the other party didn't make things difficult for him.
Jiang Shu handed the resumes to the two of them.
"You two wait outside for a moment; I need to see Qu Fan."
"Alright."
The two bowed slightly to Jiang Shu and left the office. Soon after, a tall, thin man walked in.
"Director Jiang," Qu Fan bowed respectfully to Jiang Shu.
Jiang Shu looked at his appearance and then at the information in his hand.
"Do you speak Korean?" Jiang Shu asked in Korean.
"Yes," Qu Fan nodded. "I've been in charge of marketing projects for Korea."
Jiang Shu looked at Qu Fan's resume.
Qu Fan, a veteran marketing professional in the domestic entertainment industry, whose resume dazzled Jiang Shu. Jiang Shu had heard of all the various projects he participated in, which were all major news that had been trending.
But there was a problem.
"With your resume, why would you want to come to our DM Entertainment?" Jiang Shu asked, looking at Qu Fan in confusion.
"I won't lie to you, I offended a big shot in the industry domestically and was completely blacklisted," Qu Fan said with a wry smile.
Jiang Shu suddenly understood.
So, he was blacklisted, no wonder.
"That's fine, their influence doesn't reach Korea," Jiang Shu waved his hand and said.
Korea is very exclusive, and the K-pop industry doesn't have much to do with the domestic entertainment industry. Those so-called big shots can't extend their reach here.
"You mean..." Qu Fan's eyes lit up.
"I can give you the position of Marketing Head of Department, but the salary won't be on par with domestic standards. You should be familiar with the market rates here in Korea, especially since you have a bit of a problem," Jiang Shu bargained.
"I understand. Chairman Jiang is willing to give me this opportunity, and I'm already incredibly grateful!" Qu Fan nodded and said.
"Good, then welcome to the big family of DM Entertainment," Jiang Shu extended his right hand to Qu Fan with a smile.
Qu Fan also smiled and shook hands with Jiang Shu.
"Please help me call the lady waiting outside in," Jiang Shu said to Qu Fan.
"Yes."
Qu Fan nodded, went out and called Choi Ji-yeon, then waited by the door.
"Chairman."
"Take the three of them to complete their onboarding. Qin Zhen will be the Head of Public Relations, and Qu Fan will be the Head of Marketing. Then, have someone verify their past experiences and resumes."
Jiang Shu wasn't a child; he wouldn't believe everything people said.
"Alright," Choi Ji-yeon nodded in agreement.
"Go ahead," Jiang Shu waved his hand; he still had to "turn in his homework" to Min Xizhen.
