In the afternoon, the gloomy sky was covered by a giant grey curtain, and dense lines of rain poured down like a beaded curtain, splashing up layers of water on the ground.
Chen Kai put on his black raincoat, zipped it up, and pulled the brim of his hood low.
He squatted down and helped Larvitar put on a child's raincoat, but unfortunately, it was still too big for Larvitar, with the long hem dragging on the ground and the two sleeves dangling, swaying as Larvitar moved.
Wearing this ill-fitting raincoat, Larvitar looked both comical and adorable.
It tried hard to take small, short steps, but the raincoat kept tripping its feet, making it stumble now and then.
It also tugged at the raincoat with its small paws from time to time, its little nose wrinkled, and it made “hmph hmph” sounds, seemingly expressing its dissatisfaction with the large raincoat.
Chen Kai looked at Larvitar in this state and couldn't help but laugh out loud, reaching out to gently pat its head and saying:
“Alright, alright, let's hurry and head to Area Zero.”
After speaking, he stood up, holding Larvitar's small paw, and stepped into the rain.
At the same time, Chen Kai couldn't help but complain, “That blondie, I don't know why he didn't leave the Poké Ball behind.”
That way, Larvitar wouldn't have to get wet in the rain.
After lunch, the supply of berries in the storage room at home was already running low.
Originally, Chen Kai was too lazy to go to Area Zero on such a rainy day, but now he had no choice; he had to go, otherwise Larvitar would go hungry tonight.
Fortunately, Iron Leaves had always had no objection to Pokémon entering Area Zero.
Chen Kai repeatedly cautioned Larvitar that the place they were going to later should not be mentioned to the blondie or anyone else.
Since there was food, Larvitar nodded and agreed to Chen Kai's request.
The first stop was definitely the Astronomical Observatory, and Chen Kai also brought some tea and snacks for Iron Leaves, and at the same time, the instrument that could find Earth also needed his help to replenish Taijing Energy.
With Miraidon carrying them, they soon arrived at the Astronomical Observatory.
“Later, there will be an elder Pokémon, so remember to be well-behaved, okay?” Chen Kai instructed Larvitar.
Larvitar nodded vigorously.
“And Exeggcute, you can't be mischievous either!” Chen Kai turned his head and said sternly to Exeggcute.
Exeggcute, however, seemed not to hear, still happily bouncing around, and with Larvitar at home, whose height was somewhat similar to Exeggcute's, it bounced even more joyfully around Larvitar.
This made Larvitar a bit annoyed, but Chen Kai fed it, so it couldn't really act out.
Chen Kai sighed, rubbing his forehead: “I hope Iron Leaves doesn't mind Exeggcute.”
Miraidon, on the other hand, wasn't worried at all: “Don't worry, Iron Leaves won't mind a child.”
“That's for the best.”
As they spoke, Chen Kai arrived at the Astronomical Observatory hall, where Iron Leaves was as usual, having brewed tea and waiting for Chen Kai and Miraidon.
The one human and two Pokémon were already very familiar with each other, sitting around the table, tea fragrance wafting, and words flowing like a stream in the quiet.
It was mainly Chen Kai and Miraidon talking about interesting things happening on Blue Star recently, while Iron Leaves, who always stayed in Area Zero, mostly listened.
Larvitar initially wandered around with interest, occasionally sniffing around their feet.
But after a while, it found the conversation incredibly boring.
It plopped down on the ground, head drooping, small eyes narrowed into slits, and let out a huge yawn with its mouth wide open, the yawn stretching long and drawn out, as if it wanted to expel all the boredom.
After yawning, it even rubbed its eyes with its small paws, then listlessly lay on the ground and dozed off.
Looking at Exeggcute on the other side, normally it was a restless one, constantly jumping around, never stopping, like a little mischievous imp.
But now, it was unusually well-behaved, quietly squatting in the corner, occasionally glancing at Iron Leaves, sometimes rotating slightly, not making a sound, just staying there quietly, as if listening intently to their conversation, or perhaps pondering some profound question.
When Chen Kai finished his tea and business and left, Exeggcute remained very calm.
This was somewhat unexpected for Chen Kai and Miraidon.
Chen Kai asked Exeggcute with concern: “What's wrong with you?”
Exeggcute said with a look of longing:
“Egg, egg, egg!” (Xiao Kai, Xiao Kai, that adult just now was truly amazing! Every move of its was so elegant, just watching it made me feel so comfortable!)
Chen Kai's face darkened, not knowing who Exeggcute had learned this from, and he quickly corrected Exeggcute: “You should call it Master.”
Exeggcute quickly changed its words:
“Egg, egg, egg!” (Oh! Master, the adult just now was so elegant!)
Chen Kai thought Exeggcute was most likely referring to Iron Leaves; as a Grass and Psychic type, it was normal for the elegant and powerful Iron Leaves to attract it.
“Then you must be a good baby and look up to Iron Leaves, and next time I'll take you to see Iron Leaves again.”
Exeggcute jumped up happily: “Egg!” (Okay!)
The rain still fell like silver threads, weaving a hazy curtain of rain.
Miraidon carried them, gliding for a long time, and finally found a berry forest filled with the fresh scent of fruit.
Because the closer ones had already been picked, fortunately, it was autumn now, and there were many berries in Area Zero, so Larvitar didn't have to worry about food for the time being.
Descending from a low altitude, Chen Kai tightened the brim of his raincoat, and rainwater slid down the brim.
He and Xiao Mei walked carefully among the fruit trees, the mud underfoot a bit slippery.
Xiao Mei now had no wool, so it was completely unafraid of getting wet in the rain.
Their hands busily moved through the rain, spotting ripe and plump berries, gently twisting them, and the fruit fell into their hands.
In a short while, the bag on Miraidon's body was filled with many berries.
Larvitar was not as “well-behaved” as Chen Kai.
Wearing its slightly oversized raincoat, it charged towards the fruit tree like a little warrior.
It pushed off with its hind legs, splashing up mud, and then climbed up the tree trunk.
Raindrops rolled down its raincoat, but it paid no mind, its eyes fixed on the berries hanging from the branches.
After finding its desired berry, Larvitar reached out its small paw and grasped it tightly, then opened its mouth wide and bit down hard, juice mixed with rainwater splashing out.
It ate with relish, its small tail wagging happily in the rain, occasionally choking because it ate too quickly, causing its throat to make “gurgling” sounds.
Chen Kai looked at Larvitar's ravenous eating, feeling both annoyed and amused.
He raised his voice, shouting over the sound of the rain: “Eat slowly, don't choke!”
But Larvitar only responded with a few mumbled sounds, still burying its head in the tree, enjoying the delicious berries.
Exeggcute also wanted to imitate Larvitar, but it had no legs and couldn't jump up, only splashing water.
Exeggcute thought carefully, then its six pairs of eyes simultaneously glowed faintly, and the power of Psychic entwined around a berry at the top of the tree like silk threads.
Although it hadn't reached the level of 'Confusion', it could still barely pick the berry.
Under Exeggcute's efforts, the berry separated from the branch with a “snap” and began to sway downwards.
But the berry was much heavier than Exeggcute had anticipated; as soon as it picked the berry, Exeggcute's Psychic power couldn't quite keep up.
The Psychic power that had been steadily holding the berry began to flicker unsteadily, like a candle about to go out.
Exeggcute's small face turned red with anxiety, wanting to increase the output of its Psychic power.
However, Exeggcute's efforts were still in vain.
The berry, like an uncontrolled small cannonball, fell straight towards the ground.
With a “plop,” the berry smashed into the mud, splashing up mud and water.
Exeggcute lowered its head in frustration, and the light of its Psychic power also dissipated.
Seeing this, Chen Kai walked over, wiped the berry with his sleeve, and asked: “Exeggcute, that's impressive! Although it accidentally fell to the ground, I didn't expect you could use Psychic power!
Look, this berry is clean now, do you want to continue eating this one, or should I get you another one?”
Exeggcute was praised by Chen Kai and felt a bit embarrassed, bouncing once and saying:
“Egg!” (This one will do!)
“Okay.” Chen Kai handed the berry back to Exeggcute.
The Exeggcute, with their six mouths, finished eating it quickly and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
