Chen Kai and Thomas were currently seated firmly on Miraidon's back, speeding along a narrow country road.
Miraidon's legs seemed to have powerful rocket boosters attached, kicking up dust as it moved like a purple lightning bolt streaking across the land.
"Chen Kai, your Cyclizar's speed is absolutely insane! I feel like I'm merging with the wind!" Thomas shouted excitedly, his hands tightly gripping Miraidon's scales, his usually curly hair blown into a wild bird's nest by the wind.
Chen Kai, holding onto the handles on Miraidon's back, yelled back, "Thomas, I couldn't help it! You didn't say we'd run into Tinkaton on the way! If we don't go fast, we'll both be flattened!"
Thomas looked embarrassed; although he knew Paris like the back of his hand, this was his first time leaving Paris, and he truly hadn't expected to encounter such a situation.
After confirming his brother's treatment was nearly complete in the hospital room, Thomas had led Chen Kai eastward, never expecting to run into such a thrilling scene.
Behind them, several cute-looking, pink Tinkaton were hot on their heels, moving with heavy steps.
These Tinkaton themselves weren't scary; what was terrifying were the huge hammers they wielded, hammers larger than both of them combined, just looking at them was enough to make one tremble with fear.
When Miraidon had just sped past them, one Tinkaton noticed, a hint of confusion flashing in her eyes; she scratched her head blankly and said to her companion next to her in a muffled voice:
"Ton, ton, ton?" (Look at that guy, she's all purple and looks like she's made of metal?)
Another Tinkaton's spirits immediately lifted upon hearing this; she hadn't caught a Corviknight in a long time, and she excitedly raised her hammer and said:
"Ton! Ton!" (Let's try it then! Maybe we can knock off a few metal parts if we hit her a couple of times!)
Thus, this group of Tinkaton began their ludicrous attack.
As they chased, they swung their hammers, forcefully hitting rocks by the roadside, attempting to launch the rocks like cannonballs at Miraidon.
For a time, "clang, clang, clang" sounds were incessant, and rocks of varying sizes rained down on them.
Chen Kai was leisurely drinking soda and humming a tune, sitting on Miraidon's back, when a large rock suddenly came flying at him.
Fortunately, Iron Bundle in his Poké Ball warned him in time, allowing him to pull Thomas and narrowly dodge the rock.
Miraidon also sensed the attack and twisted to dodge the rock, though it still caused Thomas to nearly fall off her back.
Chen Kai asked loudly in surprise:
"What the heck, Thomas, what's going on!?"
"I...I don't know either," Thomas stammered, still shaken.
Just as Thomas was at a loss, the Tinkaton, seeing they hadn't caught up, launched a second round of attacks, with more and larger rocks whistling towards them.
Chen Kai quickly pulled out a Poké Ball; this kind of attack was no joke, let alone for humans, even a Corviknight couldn't handle it, one hit and it would fall from the sky, he dared not take it head-on.
Chen Kai urgently called for help: "Xiao Mei, quick, help!"
A flash of white light, and Xiao Mei stood steadily on Miraidon's back.
The space on Miraidon's back became a bit crowded at this point, but there was no time to worry about that now.
"Dragon~!" (Hmph, you still need me, don't you!)
Xiao Mei said, as a large amount of electricity rapidly condensed on her tail, and a thick bolt of lightning shot out, precisely hitting the incoming rocks.
Amidst crackling sounds, those rocks were instantly shattered by the electric current, turning into powder that scattered everywhere.
Immediately after, Chen Kai threw another Poké Ball: "Big Boss, it's up to you all!"
As a Fairy and Steel-type Pokemon, Tinkaton possesses almost invincible resistance, not only weakening damage from 8 types of moves, greatly weakening Bug-type move damage, but also completely resisting Dragon and Poison-type moves, almost completely countering Chen Kai's 'Dragon-type specialization'.
This meant that among Chen Kai's team, only Hydrapple's moves could slightly impede her.
The Hydrapple emerged from their Poké Balls, but there wasn't enough space on Miraidon's back, so they had to stand on the ground.
Chen Kai commanded: "Earth Power, block them!"
Second Boss and Sixth Leader heard the command, inserted their tails into the ground, and let out a low roar. A powerful force surged around their bodies, and the ground instantly seemed to be stirred by an invisible hand, shaking violently, the solid ground instantly turning into surging "waves." The earth rose and fell, forming undulating waves of soil.
The Tinkaton's originally striding pursuit steps were instantly disrupted.
With each step they took, their feet sank into the undulating ground, and their bodies swayed with the ground's movement.
Some Tinkaton, affected by the Ground-type energy of Earth Power, stumbled and almost fell, their hammers even hitting their own companions.
Taking advantage of this gap, Miraidon had already sped far away.
Seeing that they had successfully delayed them, the Hydrapple were preparing to make a quick escape, after all, being caught by the Fairy-type Tinkaton would be troublesome for them, being Dragon-types.
But Big Boss looked back and saw Miraidon was almost out of sight!
Big Boss, anxious, shouted:
"Hydra!" (I haven't gotten on yet!)
While quickly urging Second Boss and Sixth Leader to swing their tails and chase.
Second Boss and Sixth Leader had just used Earth Power and hadn't even had time to catch their breath, yet they had to carry their other 5 siblings and their shells, desperately twisting their bodies to run.
Fortunately, Chen Kai timely reminded Miraidon to slow down slightly, allowing him to recall the Hydrapple within the Poké Ball's maximum range.
Back in the Poké Ball, Second Boss was panting heavily, his breaths sounding like a bellows, "whoosh, whoosh" non-stop, and at the same time, he began to doubt his 'Dragon' life.
The Tinkaton ran out of the range of Earth Power, only able to watch Miraidon's shadow disappear into the distance, remaining in place with a sense of regret.
Thomas only breathed a sigh of relief after confirming that the Tinkaton hadn't caught up.
He said with guilt:
"Chen Kai, I'm really sorry, the path I led us on wasn't very reliable. I'm a terrible tour guide, and I even needed you to protect me..."
However, Chen Kai had been mentally prepared before setting off; after all, he already knew that Thomas only had one Rattata, and he certainly wouldn't be able to help in battles with wild Pokemon along the way. As long as Thomas could speak Chinese and French, wasn't bad with directions, and could get him to the Vosges Mountains as quickly as possible, there wouldn't be any major problems.
Chen Kai patted Thomas's shoulder and smiled, comforting him:
"It's alright, Thomas, we're safe now, aren't we?
Look at the map, where are we now?"
Thomas brightened up, took out the map, looked around carefully, and finally confirmed: "
We are already in the Vosges province. If we continue forward, we'll reach a small town, and the continuous mountain range in the distance is the Vosges Mountains!"
"Great!" Chen Kai said excitedly.
Not taking the highway, and reaching their destination in one day by taking a side road, this was beyond his expectations; in Dragon Country, crossing provinces wasn't this fast!
