Chapter 238: Chapter Financial Freedom

Chen Kai’s family car steadily drove on the way back to their home in the Capital.

Outside the car window, the bustling cityscapes flashed by like a slideshow.

Chen Kai sat in the back seat, his fingers subconsciously rubbing the special Luxury Ball in his palm.

This Poké Ball had just been given to him by his uncle, and it safely contained the newly revived ancient Pokémon, Dracovish.

Earlier, Chen Kai had coaxed Dracovish into this Luxury Ball with food.

“When I have money in the future, I’ll get Luxury Balls for Xiao Mei and the others too,” Chen Kai mused, and without him realizing it, the car slowly pulled up to the entrance of their residential compound.

Chen Kai’s family got out of the car and walked into their home, dragging their luggage.

As soon as Chen Ma stepped into the house, she frowned; she and Chimecho had keenly sensed something amiss.

Chen Ma stopped, looked around, her face full of confusion.

Chen Kai also noticed the atmosphere was a bit off and quickly asked, “Mom, what’s wrong?”

“There’s an abnormal Psychic fluctuation!” Chen Ma’s voice instantly became serious, “You two need to be careful!”

“Ring! Ring!” Chimecho also let out an unpleasant sound, and within the ringing, a surging, ready-to-strike power vibrated subtly and densely, its taut state much like a cat arching its back and puffing up its fur when threatened on a wall, a purely instinctive defense and deterrence.

Chen Kai slapped his forehead, finally remembering: “Wait, I brought a Pokémon back from France, Musharna!”

Musharna feeds on the dreams of humans or Pokémon, usually requiring no extra food, and had been staying in its Poké Ball.

After returning to the Capital, Chen Kai had placed the Poké Ball containing Musharna in his room, and besides feeling a little dizzy in the morning, he had almost forgotten about it.

“Ah! So that’s what it is?” Chen Ma was a bit surprised, not expecting her son to have even caught a Musharna.

Chen Ma walked into Chen Kai’s room and saw Musharna floating in the center of the room, its body emitting a faint, strange glow, and the Psychic fluctuations were emanating from it.

Sensing someone enter, Musharna quickly hid back inside its Poké Ball.

Chen Kai looked at the hidden Musharna, smiling helplessly, and explained to his parents: “Mom and Dad, I didn’t catch it, and I don’t know how to raise Psychic-type Pokémon.

It originally had a trainer, but that trainer wasn’t good to it, and later… they didn’t want it anymore, so I brought it back.”

Upon hearing this, Chen Ma’s heart was filled with pity.

She gently walked forward, picked up Musharna’s Poké Ball, and softly said, “Poor child, don’t be afraid.”

Then she turned and said, “How about I take care of this child for a while?”

“Sure,” Chen Kai was indifferent to this.

At this moment, his mind, having returned home, was completely occupied by another matter.

Upon returning home, all the Pokémon came out of their Poké Balls.

Chen Kai found this a real headache because he owned far too many Pokémon.

Miraidon, Xiao Mei, Hydrapple, Grovyle, Exeggcute, Seadra, plus the new Dracovish—each Pokémon had a unique personality and characteristics, and all required a certain amount of living space.

Especially Hydrapple and Dracovish, they were enormous; Hydrapple, when coiled in a corner of the room, already took up a lot of space.

Now, Dracovish found it extremely difficult to even swim or turn around in the cramped room, with every turn appearing incredibly arduous, so Chen Kai could only feed it more food.

Fortunately, Dracacovish was quite close to Chen Kai and remained relatively calm.

The house was only so big, and now it was packed full with these Pokémon, requiring cautious walking to avoid stepping on or bumping into them.

Chen Kai frowned, complaining to his parents with a troubled expression: “Mom and Dad, our house feels a bit small now.

Shouldn’t we find a time to return to Sichuan Province as soon as possible?”

Chen Ba heard this, first looked at the distressed Chen Kai, then burst into laughter.

He patted Chen Kai’s shoulder and said nonchalantly, “Then let’s just get a bigger house, it’s not a big deal.”

“No, Dad, when did you become so generous?” Chen Kai was a bit unaccustomed to his father’s current style, “And what’s with your car?”

Seeing that they were home and only family members were in the house, Chen Dafu no longer concealed it and said directly, “The money from your mega evolution stone sale has arrived.”

“Oh!” Chen Kai didn’t realize anything, merely responding with a faint sound.

Chen Ba chuckled, “Your uncle has already given the money to your mom and me, do you know how much it is?”

Only then did Chen Kai feel something was off: “What?! My uncle gave you the money? I sold this, why did he give it to you?!”

At this moment, Chen Ma walked over and said, “Xiao Kai, this money is for you to save.

You’re still young, and with such a large sum of money in your hands, you wouldn’t know how to manage it.

What if you get scammed or spend it recklessly? We’re helping you save it, it’s for your own good.”

Chen Kai grew even more anxious, stamping his foot and retorting with a flushed face: “I’m this old, how could I be scammed?

Besides, this money is what I worked hard for, I have the right to control it.

You can’t just take it without permission!”

And so, Chen Kai and Chen Ma argued back and forth.

Chen Kai argued logically, and although Chen Ma knew she was somewhat in the wrong, she still refused to back down, their voices growing louder and the atmosphere becoming very tense.

Chen Kai sometimes couldn’t help but lament that no matter what world, his mother’s personality was always like this for some reason; if only she could spare a little of the gentleness she showed Pokémon for him.

Chen Ba watched from the side, rubbing his temples with a headache.

He quickly walked between them, held up his hands in a stop gesture, and loudly said, “Loud, loud, stop arguing.

We’re all family, can’t we just talk things out properly?”

Chen Ba first turned to Chen Kai and said earnestly, “How about this, let’s compromise.

Dad will give you some pocket money, for you to manage yourself.”

Chen Kai was initially still fuming: “What’s the use of a little pocket money? That’s my money.”

But when Chen Kai received a text message alert and saw the amount, his eyes instantly widened.

He carefully looked at the displayed number: a ‘1’ followed by many zeros, a full eight digits.

He had only seen so many zeros in Rong City!

Chen Kai’s previously tense face suddenly relaxed, his mouth slightly open, revealing a surprised expression: “This is more like it.”

The dissatisfaction and anger from just now instantly vanished into thin air.

Chen Ma, seeing Chen Ba transfer so much money to Chen Kai, initially wanted to say something, but after thinking it over, decided against it.

After all, this was her son’s own earned money, and for her to take most of it to manage was indeed not entirely fair, and somewhat unkind.

At this point, Chen Kai casually asked, “So, how much did it sell for in total?”

Chen Ba mysteriously pulled out his phone and showed Chen Kai his bank account balance.

Chen Kai felt dizzy from the sheer number of zeros; he had never even seen so many zeros in Rong City.

“Oh my god, Dad, that’s not fair! You only gave me this much.”

Chen Ba pulled Chen Kai aside and whispered, “Just tell me if you need money later, won’t that do?”

“Then it’s a deal!”

“Guaranteed!”
