Chapter 45: vs. Buna Devouring Grass

Old Cat asked, holding a glowing stone, “Is it this one?”

Section Chief Hu looked up and said, “That’s just a Dawn Stone. How could you not recognize it!

If you want it, put it in your pocket. Don’t ask me!”

“Oh!” Old Cat responded sullenly, one hand continuing to rummage through the shelves, the other putting the Dawn Stone into his pocket.

Then he saw a piece of composite metal on the adjacent shelf that looked good and also stuffed it into his pocket.

Just as Old Cat went to get the composite metal, the highest quality Dawn Stone on the shelf he had just been at suddenly disappeared.

Meanwhile, Zangoose was being attracted by a Destiny Knot.

Section Chief Hu watched, shaking his head.

It seemed like others truly couldn't be relied upon!

He sped up his search, because for some reason, he felt a chill down his spine.

While Section Chief Hu continued to bury his head in searching and Old Cat was engrossed in his ‘zero-dollar shopping’...

In their blind spot, a purple Cyclizar would occasionally appear out of thin air, swallowing the treasures in the Bai family's warehouse whole.

Things like Electric Seed, Dragon Fang, Dragon Scale, and even millennium ginseng, which seemed useless to Pokemon, were all accepted without refusal.

There was also a Flaaffy, following the purple Cyclizar, eating its fill.

Unfortunately, its teeth weren't as good as Cyclizar's, so it could only eat things like Intelligence Feathers and Electric Seed.

It couldn't chew Dragon Fangs or Dragon Scales at all, so it could only hide them in its wool, while an invisible hand stuffed a few Thunder Stones into its cheek.

And the newly evolved Dipplin was feasting on honey apple, Tart Apple, and Sweet Apple.

Although it couldn't evolve it further, the large amount of Dragon and Grass energy contained within them was still beneficial.

It was like Sun Wukong entering the Peach Garden, picking what it liked to eat, and if it wasn't satisfied, taking a couple of bites and throwing it away, then trying a different flavor.

At this moment, Section Chief Hu was somewhat desperate and wanted to leave. He began to wonder if Vine had tricked him, and if there were no glass beads here as she had said!

As he thought this, his hands didn't stop, and he opened another dust-covered box.

What was inside the box made Section Chief Hu's eyes light up! It contained 6 strangely colored glass beads.

Section Chief Hu exclaimed, “Beads… it’s 6 beads!”

He quickly took out a miniature detector to check the energy fluctuations emitted by the beads, and the results delighted him—all 6 beads contained Dragon-type energy.

Although other attributes were mixed in, it didn't matter; the mission was complete, and he could finally go live his good life!

Section Chief Hu loudly said, “Old Cat, I found them! Go quickly and call A Gou in, we’re leaving.”

“Really! That’s great.” Old Cat was also overjoyed to hear this, immediately running out to call A Gou.

Just as Old Cat and Zangoose ran out, a sudden exclamation of “Oh!” startled Section Chief Hu.

“Who? Who is it?” Section Chief Hu looked around in a panic but found no one.

When he looked down, the 6 beads in the box had mysteriously disappeared!

He screamed in a rush: “Ah ah ah! Who is it, who is it!!!

Playing tricks! Get out here.”

The only response he received was silence.

Section Chief Hu gritted his teeth in anger.

“Not coming out, huh? Go, Brambleghast! The beads were stolen, go find them and deal with the culprit!”

This Brambleghast was left by Vine for his protection; it had Gym-level strength, but unfortunately, it didn't obey his commands.

But now that the beads had been stolen by someone playing tricks, in such a situation, Brambleghast would help him!

Section Chief Hu estimated that the other side was probably using a Psychic-type Pokemon or a Ghost-type Pokemon to make himself invisible, and Brambleghast, also being Ghost-type, would surely be able to find the opponent.

But to his surprise, not far from him, a stunned Delibird suddenly appeared out of thin air.

However, he couldn't care less about that and commanded Brambleghast to attack the Delibird: “Over there, Brambleghast, attack him!”

Brambleghast's intuition told it something was wrong.

However, its master had given an order, requiring it to cooperate with the elder behind him to find the beads. Now that this elder said the beads were stolen, it could only brace itself and act.

Brambleghast extended its Vine, using Power Whip, and while attacking, it also tried to retrieve the beads.

As soon as it extended its Vine, an extreme cold spread from its base. Its body was instantly invaded by this cold, its expression froze in an instant, and before its terrified eyes could react further, it was frozen into a block of ice.

And the trace of coldness overflowing from its body made Section Chief Hu, who was behind it, shiver.

Section Chief Hu stammered, “Elite… Elite… level?”

There were only so many Elite-level people in Kyoto, and he hadn't expected to encounter one while stealing beads from the Bai family.

Or, had the police already been watching him? Was this just to catch him red-handed?

He pretended to drop his hands weakly and said, “I… I confess, I shouldn’t have done these things.”

But he secretly tried to reach for the device in his pocket, intending to betray Old Cat and A Gou and teleport out of the secret realm by himself.

Even if he was discovered, so what? He still wanted to take a gamble and try to escape.

“Iron Bundle! What is he doing? Stop him quickly!” At this moment, a young voice came.

Section Chief Hu was stunned for a moment. Was the person opposite him a young man?

And it was this moment of stunned that made him a beat too slow, failing to activate the device.

Then he found that he couldn't move; he looked down, and his limbs, like Brambleghast's, were frozen.

Section Chief Hu found that he couldn't even move a single finger. He struggled to twist his body, trying to break free from the unbreakable ice, but it was all in vain. He couldn't run, he was desperate.

Tears began to well up in his eyes, sliding down his cheeks, instantly freezing into ice beads in the cold. His lips turned purple from the cold, and he began to beg bitterly: “Please, I know I was wrong, please let me go, I won't try to escape again.

I know I was wrong, it’s so cold! Please let me go!”

… …

The only response was silence; even that Delibird had disappeared without a trace.

Only he was left, begging bitterly in the warehouse.

Old Cat and A Gou, at the warehouse entrance, had actually seen Section Chief Hu's predicament long ago.

They had intended to help, and then they saw Brambleghast instantly defeated by Delibird.

Their Pokemon were barely Gym-level; they might not even be able to defeat that Brambleghast. Wouldn't going up just be suicide?

Then they saw a terrifying scene: their boss just moved a little and was also frozen, unable to move, crying miserably there.

The key was that they hadn't even seen the other person.

They also didn't clearly see how that Delibird disappeared.

It was truly like seeing a ghost.
