Around noon, the sun hung high in the clear blue sky, casting a warm and bright Radiance. The sky was so clear there wasn't a single cloud, like a giant blue crystal, pure and transparent. A gentle breeze brushed by, carrying wisps of warmth, softly caressing everything in the world.
Chen Kai was still stuck in school for math class, while the two Dipplin happily wandered around Zining Mountain.
In an open clearing, stood several Berry trees. They were like loyal guardians of this world, Ingrain in the fertile soil, with lush branches and leaves, full of vitality.
They must have been planted by people from Wang Yi's village.
The apple tree branches were laden with unripe small apples, which were delicate and small, like green gems, sparkling with a charming luster under the sunlight. As the breeze swept by, the apples swayed gently, as if dancing joyfully. The Leafage rustled, as if accompanying them with music.
It was already September, and these late-ripening mountain apples were about to mature.
A fruit farmer was meticulously tending to the fruit trees, with two Butterfree fluttering beside him, which must have been the farmer's Pokemon.
"Ah!" For some unknown reason, Big Boss let out a comfortable sigh upon seeing these small apples.
Perhaps it just liked fruit!
Second Boss deeply understood this feeling, although it had never planted apples, its instinctive intuition told it.
"These apples are well-grown!"
The fruit farmer finished up his work, gave a few instructions to the Butterfree, and then left.
The Dipplin crawled over and said to the Butterfree:
"Hello, can I just stay under the tree for a while?"
Seeing that the Dipplin had no Malicious Pursuit towards the apples, the Butterfree let them be.
The Dipplin sat quietly under the fruit tree, feeling the warm sunlight on their bodies, listening to the rustling of the Leafage, and breathing the fresh air, their hearts filled with peace and joy. At this moment, time seemed to stand still as they immersed themselves in this beautiful afternoon, enjoying nature's bounty.
However, the scene was soon broken by a group of uninvited guests.
Initially, a few small black dots appeared on the horizon, moving quickly towards the orchard. As the distance closed, the black dots gradually became clear, revealing several flying-type Pokemon: Pidgey, Starly, and Pidove.
Fortunately, they were relatively docile; the Butterfree simply issued a warning, and they scattered like birds and beasts.
Big Boss said to Second Boss, "When I used to plant fruit trees, the most annoying thing was bird Pokemon. They always stole my apples.
Especially Noibat, it even gnawed on me!"
Second Boss wanted to say something, but it lacked experience and had never encountered such a situation, so it didn't know what to say. It thought for a long time but couldn't come up with anything coherent.
But immediately after, another group, led by several Fearow with a large flock of Spearow, descended towards the fruit trees like a well-trained army.
They ignored the warnings from the Butterfree and landed on the fruit tree branches, causing the thick branches to bend slightly under their weight. Some birds gripped the branches tightly with their sharp talons, while others began to peck at the fruit on the trees with their hard beaks.
The two Butterfree angrily attacked the Spearow.
They jointly used Confusion, smashing several Spearow heavily to the ground.
Upon seeing their subordinates attacked, the Fearow angrily used 'Peck.' Their two sharp beaks, like impact drills, charged towards the Butterfree.
The Butterfree hastily retaliated with 'Bug Bite.'
However, Bug-type moves against Flying-type moves, the situation naturally needs no further explanation, not to mention the large number of Fearow.
The Butterfree were severely pecked and injured.
With the advantage, the Fearow would not let the Butterfree off lightly.
'Malicious Pursuit' and 'Wing Attack' were all directed at the Butterfree.
This scene reminded Big Boss of its days in Area Zero.
It had painstakingly grown Leppa Berry, which were often bullied by bird Pokemon. They even snatched and ate all the Leppa Berry. And even if they ate them, they would still do what they were doing now.
The unripe apples were pecked with deep holes by the Spearow, exposing the flesh to the air, which quickly oxidized and turned black, leaving them unrecognizable and scattered all over the ground.
The tree branches were tossed about by the Spearow, and many Leafage were fanned off by their wings, fluttering down through the air as if they were tears shed by the fruit tree in pain.
"Roar!" Big Boss angrily spat out a Dragon Breath, hitting several Spearow.
These Spearow were scorched by the Dragon Breath and fell to the ground.
The Spearow had never seen a Dragon's Roar before; they were all startled.
Second Boss, who was nearby, was also startled. It said:
"Oh my god, what are you doing? Chen Kai told us to be quiet and not cause trouble before he went to school! Otherwise, he'll take us to school!"
"In this situation, can you tolerate it? I certainly can't." Big Boss stared intently at the Spearow, as if trying to pierce them with its gaze.
Second Boss had never seen Big Boss in such a state, not even when it competed with him for the boss position.
"Roar!" Big Boss unleashed another Dragon Breath, injuring several Fearow.
The Fearow and Spearow, seeing that the attackers were two small 'bugs,' immediately turned their attention and attacked the Dipplin.
Big Boss unleashed a Dragon Breath, once again knocking down several.
Seeing the unfavorable situation, Second Boss also quickly spit out a Syrup Bomb. The red syrup did not do much damage to flying-type Pokemon, but it managed to stick one Fearow, causing it to fall to the ground, unable to fly.
But after all, two fists are no match for four hands; the number of Fearow and Spearow was simply too great.
One was knocked down, and two more rushed forward.
Finally, several Fearow got close to the Dipplin.
Big Boss quickly prompted Second Boss to use Dragon Tail to Pound the ground for displacement.
Second Boss didn't care about anything else and quickly followed Big Boss's instructions, slamming its Dragon Tail on the ground and flying a long distance away.
Big Boss took the opportunity to extend its tail from the apple hole above, and a 'Dragon Tail' collided with the Fearow's 'Peck.'
Big Boss took a peck and grimaced in pain.
But the Fearow was even worse off, directly sent flying and crashing heavily to the ground.
"Whoosh--" A sudden whooshing sound cut through the air, and the Dipplin were directly sent flying in mid-air.
It was a Fearow using 'Aerial Ace,' a move that is basically guaranteed to hit and cannot be dodged.
The Dipplin fell to the ground in disarray, their honey-coated shells somewhat dented from the impact.
Second Boss cried out in pain. Although Fairy-type moves hurt just as much, the damage from this Flying-type move was a deeply ingrained fear for it.
Big Boss gritted its teeth, turned around, and used Dragon Breath to knock down the Fearow that had used Aerial Ace.
The Spearow had already closed in, and a dense barrage of 'Pecks' awaited them.
Its outer shell was already somewhat tattered, and Second Boss, hiding inside, was both scared and in pain, constantly crying out.
Big Boss made a quick decision, abandoned the apple shell, and directly burrowed out.
"What the heck, are you crazy?" Second Boss said.
Without the protection of their shells, they couldn't withstand several Flying-type moves.
However, Big Boss had encountered this situation countless times in Area Zero. Hiding in the shell might reduce damage for a while, but the shell couldn't last forever.
Years of experience told it that only by abandoning the shell and actively attacking could they possibly repel strong enemies; constant retreat would only make the opponent take an inch and then a mile!
It smoothly slipped onto a branch, and with another Dragon Breath, it hit several Spearow.
The Spearow chased onto the branch, but Big Boss, with a quick dodge and turn, moved to another tree.
It then spat out another Syrup Bomb, covering several Spearow.
Second Boss was initially stunned, but seeing Big Boss bravely go out and contend with the Spearow, attracting most of them, it indignantly said, "Damn it! Don't look down on me!"
It wasn't as agile as Big Boss, but it was stronger. First, while still in its fruit shell, it used Growth twice, clearly expanding in size. Then, it burrowed out of the fruit shell.
It delivered a powerful Dragon Tail strike to the head of a Spearow still pecking at the fruit shell. Using the strength from the two boosts, plus the recoil from hitting the Spearow, it successfully leaped onto a branch.
The Spearow that was sent flying by Second Boss knocked down several other Spearow. Immediately, some of the Spearow gave up chasing Big Boss and instead surrounded Second Boss.
But Second Boss, relying on its Dragon Tail, sent one Spearow after another flying. There was nothing else to it; it was just strong.
If that didn't work, it would follow up with Dragon Breath or Syrup Bomb, though its Syrup Bomb wasn't as powerful as Big Boss's and could only temporarily repel the Spearow.
Fortunately, on the other side, the two Butterfree had also recovered. They unleashed a large amount of Sleep Powder and Stun Spore.
These powders were ineffective against the Grass-type Dipplin, but many Spearow were affected, falling to the ground and twitching.
The situation suddenly turned for the better for the Dipplin.
But at this moment, those other bird Pokemon returned. Seeing the chaotic situation, they tried to take advantage of the Confusion to secretly eat some fruit.
Several Pidove used 'Use Wind' to scatter the powders released by the Butterfree.
Although the later bird Pokemon also had a slight dispute with the Spearow, they also had a dispute with the Dipplin, making the situation even more chaotic.
At this moment, several Fearow, who had been slapped a few times earlier and held a grudge, saw that Second Boss was a bit flustered and used 'Drill Peck' to directly attack Second Boss from behind.
Big Boss, observing from not far away, noticed that Second Boss hadn't seen this fatal attack, and at the same time, there was one particularly large Fearow with an unusually fast speed.
Too late to warn it, it quickly jumped over and used 'Protect' to help Second Boss withstand the Drill Peck.
'Protect' generated a barrier, which shattered after blocking the Drill Peck.
The attacks of the slower Fearow followed one after another, and two Drill Pecks directly hit Big Boss.
Second Boss only then realized what had happened behind it. When it saw Big Boss injured and falling for it, it was immediately enraged. It quickly jumped in front of Big Boss, protecting it.
It let out a thunderous roar: "Ahhh!"
From its mouth, a huge purple wave of light erupted. As the wave advanced, its front end began to undergo a strange transformation, forming the shape of a dragon's head at the front of the light wave.
This was originally a Dragon Pulse, a move that Dipplin would only learn at Elite Level (Level 34). Perhaps Second Boss was too angry and used this move prematurely.
The dragon-headed light wave's front end, like a living creature, swayed flexibly in the air, sweeping towards the Fearow.
These four Fearow were hit by the Dragon Pulse, flying back several meters, falling to the ground, and groaning in pain.
But more Spearow joined the battle, their beaks glowing with transparent Flying-type energy, attacking Second Boss.
Suddenly, a dull thud, without warning, broke the struggle. The sound was like it came from the distant sky, yet it also seemed to explode in their ears, as if an invisible giant hand had struck a huge war drum.
The bird Pokemon all stopped, looking up in astonishment at the still clear sky, feeling that their greatest fear was about to arrive!
Immediately after, there was an even louder thunderclap. This time, the sound was sharper, like a sharp blade cutting through the air, and the thunder echoed between heaven and earth, lingering for a long time.
Many timid bird Pokemon flew away first, leaving only the arrogant Spearow and Fearow.
They relied on their large numbers and had never feared anyone.
"Crackle!" The sound of electricity rang out beneath their feet, meaning that Electric Terrain covered the entire nearby area.
They panicked a bit. Several Spearow tried to fly away, but a huge Electric Net suddenly fell from the sky, and those Spearow were directly 'zzzz' shocked black.
Now all the Spearow and Fearow wanted to fly away. They scrambled to take off, truly enacting 'every man for himself when disaster strikes'!
However, more Electric Net came their way. These Electric Net avoided the fruit trees and swept towards the Spearow like a tidal wave.
Only a few Spearow escaped; most were left behind.
A pink Wooloo then slowly walked over from a distance.
Xiao Mei was originally messing around with Chen Ba's flock of Wooloo on the other side of the hill. Hearing the commotion, it curiously came to take a look.
Well, I'll be! A bunch of birds dared to bully Dipplin? Who gave them the courage?
It directly shot several Thunderbolt into the sky as a warning. Those who didn't leave immediately would be left behind.
Xiao Mei walked over to Second Boss and saw that Big Boss was severely injured, but thankfully, they were all external wounds. It wouldn't be a big problem if they went home later and sprayed some Potion that Chen Kai had prepared.
It walked over to the Fearow, grabbing two of the largest ones by the neck, one in each hand.
Another round of crackling!
"You guys? Who's the boss?" Xiao Mei asked casually, with a sidelong glance.
The Fearow in Xiao Mei's right hand, with black smoke coming from its mouth, responded, "It... it's me."
Xiao Mei's lips curled into a slight, mocking smile: "You're quite capable, daring to touch my people."
The Fearow boss flapped its wings frantically in the air, its voice trembling like falling leaves in the autumn wind: "Big Brother, I... I know I was wrong. I was blind. Please, in your great generosity, spare me this one time."
Xiao Mei looked at its groveling appearance, frowned in disgust, and threw it in front of the Dipplin: "Apologize to them."
The Fearow quickly begged the Dipplin for forgiveness: "I was wrong! I'm so sorry! I won't dare to do it again!"
Second Boss was not impressed by this apology. It felt it needed to quickly tend to Big Boss's injuries.
Xiao Mei also saw Second Boss's thoughts. It nudged the Fearow, then said fiercely, "Remember, from now on, Zining Mountain is my territory. Don't let me see you here again!
Now get lost!"
The Fearow and its subordinates flew away in disarray. A few of them had lost most of their feathers from being beaten and could only limp away.
Back home, Chen Ma saw that Big Boss was so severely injured and immediately treated it with a high-grade Potion before sending it to the Pokemon Center in town.
It was already evening when they returned home.
Xiao Mei had gone back to mingle with the Wooloo. Chen Ma was preparing dinner. Since it was Friday, Chen Kai, Miraidon, and Treecko would also be home for dinner, so she had to prepare more.
Big Boss slowly woke up: "Where is this?"
"We're home," Second Boss replied, continuously repairing its precious fruit shell.
"Where are those birds?" Big Boss asked.
Second Boss sighed: "Xiao Mei chased them away in a few moves. Sigh, there's nothing we can do, we just don't have the type advantage."
"That's good then." Big Boss breathed a sigh of relief.
"Are those Berries really that important? They're not even yours." Second Boss stopped repairing the fruit shell and asked, puzzled.
Big Boss said indignantly: "Yes! They're not mine, but my Berries used to be constantly ruined by these birds. If they had just eaten them properly, it would have been fine! But they always pecked a few bites and then threw them away, which often left me hungry!
I couldn't stand it when I saw it today!
I'm sorry, I made you suffer with me."
Second Boss didn't say anything, continuing to repair its fruit shell.
After a long while, Second Boss spoke again: "Boss, why don't you try planting a few fruit trees near the house?"
"Fruit trees?" Big Boss asked.
Second Boss nodded: "Yes, just tell Chen Kai, and he'll help you get them."
Big Boss hesitated: "But won't that be too much trouble for him? After all, he's already helped me so much."
"If you don't say it, I'll say it for you," Second Boss said, continuing to busy itself with repairing its and Big Boss's precious fruit shells.
