Chapter 1: Pokémon Simulator

The Pokémon world, Sinnoh region, Veilstone City, Veilstone Gym.

A young man, with his bright red hair tied in a high ponytail and bandages wrapped around his hands, was grunting as he pummeled the sandbag in front of him with his fists and feet.

The sandbag swayed gently, as if saying, “Hit me harder! All you’re doing is getting me wet. What else can you do?”

Li Shuwen shrugged. He had been sickly since childhood, and even after practicing martial arts for many years, it only served to boost his immunity and prevent him from catching colds every time the seasons changed.

His parents named him Li Shuwen, hoping he would excel academically.

After all, no one stipulated that the Gym Leader in charge of the Fighting-type Gym had to be a martial artist.

However, unfortunately, Li Shuwen, as a Transmigrator, found that not only was his body weak, but his Trainer talent was also mediocre.

When he was ten years old, his father gave him a Jangmo-o as his first Pokémon.

Eight years passed, and Jangmo-o was still a Jangmo-o.

Ever since he arrived in the Pokémon world at the age of eight, his Golden Finger had been loading, and not long ago, the Golden Finger’s progress bar finally reached 【99/100】. He was finally about to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Ever since his mother passed away shortly after giving birth to his sister due to complications from childbirth and a weakened body, his father had been immersing himself in Veilstone Game City, numbing himself by playing games.

It was practically the Pokémon world version of: a gambling father, a deceased mother, a wailing infant sister, and a broken him.

Of course, Jangmo-o was also a prize his father had redeemed from playing games at Veilstone Game City.

Next door, a pink-haired girl delivered a light side kick, and with just that one kick, the sandbag spun a full circle around its horizontal bar.

A burly man in a karate gi next to her couldn’t help but exclaim, “Whoa, Li Meining’s strength has grown again! She’s only ten years old and a girl, yet she’s so strong.”

“Last time, a Tauros cart suddenly went wild, and the Tauros broke free from its reins and ran loose in the street. But Li Meining grabbed its tail and pulled it back.”

The girl touched her hair, “I’m not as amazing as everyone says.”

“Ooh!”

A Riolu stood beside the girl, also raising its hands to cheer her on.

The young man in a Chinese martial arts uniform, Li Shuwen, shook his head.

This pink-haired girl, praised by everyone for her great strength, was his sister, Li Meining, whom he had raised from infancy.

At that time, he was only eight years old and in poor health. He had to mix formula and change diapers, which allowed his sister to grow into her current powerful form.

Fortunately, Veilstone Gym was still barely operating normally, so Li Shuwen had money to support his sister.

Even the name Li Meining was given to his sister by him.

He couldn’t believe that his father would let a girl live with a name like Li Zi.

Fortunately, his father wasn’t completely uncaring towards the siblings. After numbing his grief for their mother through games, he would return to fulfill his duties as Gym Leader for a period.

He would also purchase necessities for the siblings.

Occasionally, if he forgot, the martial artists training at the Gym would also lend a hand.

Of course, everyone preferred to call his sister Li Meining.

They called him Li Shuwen or just Shuwen.

“Li Shuwen, you need to work harder!”

Li Shuwen waved his hand weakly, “I know~”

“Jangmo-o!”

Jangmo-o tapped its scales with its tail, cheering on its Trainer.

“I’m already at Full Speed Ahead~”

A notification sound in his ear made Li Shuwen’s spirits lift.

“Pokémon Simulator, Loaded 100/100.”

“Starting, please wait…”

“First simulation, the host can specify the type to simulate. Please select the type the host wishes to simulate. The system will provide corresponding rewards based on the host’s selected simulation type and the simulation results.”

“Rewards are divided into Type Rewards and Item Rewards. Type Rewards only affect the host, while Item Rewards can affect both humans and Pokémon.”

Eighteen types were displayed before Li Shuwen’s eyes.

Each type had a number next to it, representing Li Shuwen’s compatibility and training effectiveness with Pokémon of that type.

The higher the number, the better the training effect.

For example, 【Dragon (0.59)】 meant that every time Li Shuwen and Jangmo-o trained, it would only have 0.59 times the effect.

Type Rewards would not only increase Li Shuwen’s compatibility with the corresponding type.

They could also grant Li Shuwen some characteristics of that type.

For example, the muscles and Fighting talent of the Fighting-type.

For example, the powerful vitality of the Dragon-type!

For example, Psychic abilities like Confusion, Future Sight, and Heal Pulse from the Psychic type.

After only a brief consideration, Li Shuwen decided to choose the Dragon-type for his first simulation!

Not only because the only Pokémon Li Shuwen currently owned was Jangmo-o.

Increasing Dragon-type compatibility would allow him to better nurture Jangmo-o.

What Li Shuwen most wanted was actually the powerful vitality of the Dragon-type!

His body was too frail, severely impacting his ability to become an excellent Trainer and take over Veilstone Gym.

Although he had just turned eighteen, his father’s guidance for challengers was becoming increasingly perfunctory.

Sometimes, when his father couldn’t be found, Li Shuwen had to use his father’s Pokémon to impersonate the Gym Leader and face Trainers’ challenges.

Li Shuwen’s Trainer talent was not ideal; he couldn’t provide his Pokémon with three, four, or even ten times the power boost like other talented Trainers.

However, his Pokémon knowledge and command abilities had been honed through ten years of continuous study, and challengers never discovered that Li Shuwen was actually a fake Gym Leader.

“Meining, stop playing and go train with Riolu.”

With a final spinning kick that sent the sandbag twirling three and a half times in the air, the little girl puffed out her cheeks, “Got it! Riolu, let’s go!”

“Ooh!”

She rushed out of the Gym in a flurry, following the training plan Li Shuwen had set for her, and attempted to practice Aura Sphere with Riolu.

Li Shuwen shook his head. Although his sister was a Machamp-like girl, she wasn’t skilled at training Pokémon. Her talent was better than Li Shuwen’s, but only marginally so.

She could only rely on her natural great strength and focus more on the Fighting-type.

Li Meining was the “Little Li” from the anime, who, like Ash, didn’t have traditional Trainer talent but whose super physical abilities could make up for the gap, and who was defeated by Shinji, also from Veilstone City, to the point of a mental breakdown, making her believe she wasn’t suited to be a Gym Leader.

Kicking Aura Sphere away, Li Meining’s combat power was even above Lucario’s.

Putting the equipment back in place, Li Shuwen also smiled at Jangmo-o.

“Jangmo-o, let’s go train too.”

When Li Shuwen realized that pursuing only the Trainer path would likely lead nowhere, he chose to also become a Breeder.

By pursuing both, although Jangmo-o still hadn’t evolved, its physical strength and skill proficiency were rapidly improving.

“Jangmo-o, old routine, let’s warm up with Dragon Dance first.”

“Jangmo-o!”

Jangmo-o’s eyes were sharp, and its tail swayed from side to side.

“New book sailing, please give five-star reviews, free gifts, and keep following!”
