Chapter 35: Winning streak

The preliminary rounds have always been a mixed bag, with the vast majority being fish, so Lin Fan didn't show much excitement even after winning his first match.

After meeting Su Ling and confirming that she hadn't encountered any tough opponents and had easily won her battle, the two of them returned to the hotel.

Their second matches were in the afternoon, but Lin Fan's was at 3 PM, while Su Ling's was at 3:30 PM.

It must be said that there were indeed many participants; all the battlefields inside the Xiyue Arena were open simultaneously, with battles happening continuously. However, when Lin Fan arrived at the venue in the afternoon, it was still packed. It seemed he would have to go through at least three or four more matches before the preliminaries would end.

"Big brother, please go easy on me~"

Lin Fan's opponent in the second match was a cute girl with twin pigtails, and her Pokémon was an adorable Eevee.

However, Lin Fan's gaze was somewhat strange as he looked at the Eevee's bow and the girl making cute gestures, remaining silent for a long time.

If you're going to raise Eevee as a pet for display, then don't bring it to a competition…

Although his opponent tried to get by on cuteness, Lin Fan put away his smile and frowned slightly.

He had always disliked people who treated battles as child's play.

"Let's finish this quickly. Don't hit too hard; that Eevee doesn't look like it can withstand your attack."

"Screech!"

Just as Lin Fan expected, this Eevee was indeed raised as a pet for display. Its physical condition was very poor; Beedrill merely tapped it lightly on the head and it immediately went limp, losing its combat ability.

"Headshot * 2."

Lin Fan muttered to himself, feeling like he was venturing further and further down a strange path.

Putting away Beedrill, Lin Fan didn't bother to pay attention to his stunned opponent. As he walked off the field, he pondered in his mind whether it was possible for a Pokémon like Eevee to evolve into a Bug-type Bug Eevee.

Theoretically, such a possibility does exist, but in reality, this possibility is infinitely close to 0.

Although Eevee has as many as eight evolutions, only five of them are completed by using corresponding type ites, while the evolution methods for the other three are very abstract.

And precisely because they are too abstract, they have not yet been discovered.

Lin Fan believed that Eevee's genes also hid the power of the Bug-type, but wanting to use this as a stepping stone to evolve into a Bug-type Bug Eevee would be a bit too far-fetched.

Unless… a forbidden experiment was conducted, just like the birth of Mewtwo.

Lin Fan had to admit that sometimes, even though those experiments were cruel, they could indeed promote world progress.

Shaking his head, he cast aside these wild thoughts. Lin Fan laughed self-deprecatingly, and just as he was about to leave, a gasp suddenly came from beside him, making him look over, a hint of surprise appearing in his eyes as well.

Evolutionary light!

Lin Fan walked near the field and curiously looked at the Pokémon revealed after the light dissipated.

A very elegant Kirlia.

"Is its initial Pokémon a Ralts? That kind of Pokémon is very precious."

Lin Fan was a bit surprised. A person in front of him turned around and eagerly introduced to Lin Fan, "Hey, buddy, this is the daughter of the Psychic Gym Leader. Ralts is very precious to people like us, but to them, it's just a relatively powerful Pokémon."

Lin Fan was startled, only then noticing the girl standing next to Kirlia. She had long, black, cascading hair and wore a white dress. Her face was expressionless, appearing very calm.

Another child of a Gym Leader?

Lin Fan was a bit surprised, taking a deep look at Kirlia.

Very strong, but not Beedrill's opponent.

After a simple assessment, Lin Fan didn't bother to pay any more attention and walked away.

Compared to it, Lin Fan was more concerned about the child of the Rock-type Gym Leader. Onix's extremely high physical defense posed a considerable threat to a fast attacker like Beedrill, which lacked durability.

In the battlefield, Kirlia's Trainer suddenly looked up at Lin Fan, a blue light flashing in her eyes.

If Lin Fan had still been there, he would have recognized that it was precisely the Psychic power that he had once envied immensely!

"This person is so strange; I can't see through him."

Xu Yue's delicate brows furrowed slightly, a hint of confusion flickering in her eyes.

Kirlia walked forward and took Xu Yue's hand, bringing the latter back from her confusion. A faint, shallow smile finally appeared on her face.

"You're amazing, Ralts—no, Kirlia. Your strength has grown quite a bit after evolving. Let's use this Zero Moon Cup Champion to test our strength."

"Kirlia~"

...

Nothing happened overnight.

The next day, Lin Fan and Su Ling still arrived early at the Arena to wait.

After their performance in the two matches yesterday, many people in Zone D had already recognized Lin Fan. They whispered among themselves, and some even came forward to greet Lin Fan.

"See that? It's the person wearing the red and white hat. I'm telling you, his Pokémon is Beedrill, and its strength is outrageous. It instantly defeated its opponents in two consecutive matches, and it did so without using any moves, purely by physical strength!"

"Were you beaten silly? A Beedrill, instantly defeating opponents without using any moves? Are you kidding?"

"You don't believe me? Then you just watch his performance today and see if I was bragging or not."

"Tch, I still have a match. Who has the time to pay attention to him?"

"What's the difference? You'll lose quickly anyway."

"Damn it, looking for a fight, are we? Take this, my Thousand Years of Pain!"

A scream rang out, and Lin Fan's eye twitched. He silently pulled down his hat brim, covering his face.

"Number 404, Lin Fan!"

The referee's voice echoed in the venue. Lin Fan walked forward and saw the referee smiling and nodding at him. He paused slightly, then politely returned the gesture.

The referees for each zone were fixed. After the two battles yesterday, it was clear that this referee highly acknowledged Lin Fan's strength.

His opponent this time was a single-ponytail girl wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans. She looked youthful and vibrant, with the familiar fighting spirit burning in her eyes: "I know you, the Trainer of that Beedrill. The Eevee Trainer you eliminated yesterday is my friend, so I will go all out, and please don't hold back either!"

Lin Fan was silent for a moment, then spoke, "You two came together? Are there any others?"

The girl was startled. Although she didn't know why Lin Fan was asking this, she still answered seriously, "No, just the two of us."

Lin Fan nodded, "Then after this match, you two can prepare to go home."

The girl froze, her face instantly turning much redder. She stomped her foot in frustration, wanting to say something, but for a moment, she didn't know what to say to retort. She could only clench her Poké Ball tightly and stare at the referee, ready to act at any moment.

Lin Fan met the referee's strange gaze and shrugged helplessly.

He had no good feelings for the Eevee Trainer from yesterday, and by extension, he had a natural dislike for her friend as well.

Not wanting to be a Trainer is a very normal thing, but treating battles as child's play is not a good thing.

If you choose to raise Eevee as a display pet, then don't bring it to stand on the battlefield. That is a great irresponsibility to Eevee. If Beedrill went all out, it would be enough to directly pierce Eevee's body, but the opponent was completely unaware of this.

Even in official matches and official venues, accidents can happen.

Is it because she isn't the one getting hit that she can't comprehend the danger?

Lin Fan raised his eyes, took a deep breath, and his gaze gradually turned cold.

"Since you are her friend, let me see what kind of Trainer you are."
