Chapter 128: Dr. Ouyang and Dr. Braino talking on the phone

“Huh? How can this be?”

Dr. Ouyang frowned, staring at the data screen in front of him, his fingers flying across the keyboard, trying to find a clue from the complex data.

Fine beads of sweat appeared on his forehead, clearly indicating that this discovery left him both excited and perplexed.

“This is impossible…”

Dr. Ouyang muttered to himself, his voice trembling with disbelief.

“This Eevee has too many types of energy inside: Fire, Water, Electric, Grass, Ice, Psychic, Dark, Fairy…”

“These energies should conflict with each other, potentially even causing Eevee’s body to collapse.”

“But now, they are perfectly harmonized by some force, forming a stable energy network. This completely violates the basic principles of Pokémon energy studies!”

Jiang Mo stood by, a faint, almost imperceptible smile playing on his lips as he listened to Dr. Ouyang’s words.

Of course, he knew the secret behind it; after all, Dr. Bulano had also been troubled by this for a long time.

If he hadn’t obtained Mew’s hair from Mew, Eevee might still be soaking in a laboratory culture tank, unable to truly come alive.

“Doctor, actually, Dr. Bulano also pondered this problem for a very long time.”

Jiang Mo said calmly, “Later, we discovered that for the energy within Eevee to coexist stably, some external force intervention was necessary.”

“External force?”

“Old Man Bulano?!”

Dr. Ouyang suddenly looked up, his eyes wide, “What external force? Is it some special gene modification technology? Or the power of some legendary Pokémon?”

“Also, why did that Old Man Bulano also study this Eevee?”

“Could it be that this Eevee was developed by him?!”

Jiang Mo nodded and slowly said, “That’s right, this Eevee is Dr. Bulano’s masterpiece, and I provided him with Mew’s hair.”

“Mew’s hair?!”

Dr. Ouyang’s voice instantly rose by eight octaves, and he practically jumped out of his chair, “You mean the legendary Mythical Pokémon—Mew? Its hair actually has this effect?!”

“That’s right.”

Jiang Mo smiled slightly and said, “Mew is the common ancestor of all Pokémon. Its hair contains the genes of all Pokémon and can harmonize conflicts between different attributes.”

“It is this energy that allows the multiple attributes within Eevee to coexist.”

After listening, Dr. Ouyang fell into a brief silence, then slammed the table, exclaiming excitedly, “So that’s it! So that’s it!”

“No wonder that old fellow Bulano could develop such a perfect work! He actually obtained Mew’s hair! This is a rare material that even I have dreamed of!”

At this point, Dr. Ouyang’s expression suddenly turned ugly.

He gritted his teeth, a hint of unwillingness in his tone: “I never thought that old fellow Bulano would actually come up with such an amazing achievement, and he’s really put me in my place! How on earth did he do it?”

Then Dr. Ouyang looked at Jiang Mo with a hint of resentment and said, “Jiang Mo, as your teacher, why didn’t you share such a good thing with me first? You just let that Old Man Bulano benefit from it. What does he even know about gene research?”

“What a waste! What a terrible waste!”

Jiang Mo secretly chuckled as he watched Dr. Ouyang’s pained, tearless expression.

He knew that Dr. Ouyang and Dr. Bulano had been rivals for many years; they had been at odds since their student days, and after becoming doctors, they had always engaged in overt and covert competition in the field of Pokémon gene research.

Now, seeing Dr. Bulano’s research achievements being so astonishing, Dr. Ouyang naturally felt unwilling.

“Doctor, actually, Dr. Bulano is no longer in the North America Alliance,” Jiang Mo said mysteriously.

“What?”

Dr. Ouyang was stunned, then asked in confusion, “That old fellow isn’t in the North America Alliance anymore? Then where did he go?”

“Did he abandon his laboratory there? That was the fruit of his painstaking efforts for decades! How could he bear to?”

Jiang Mo smiled, not answering directly, but instead took out his communicator and dialed a number.

“Lingxi, please connect me to Dr. Bulano’s private line,” Jiang Mo said into the communicator.

When Dr. Ouyang heard the name “Lingxi,” he frowned slightly.

He vaguely felt the name was familiar, but he couldn’t recall where he had heard it.

However, what shocked him even more was that Jiang Mo could directly contact Dr. Bulano!

Not long after, a familiar face appeared on the communicator screen—it was Dr. Bulano.

He looked much more energetic than Dr. Ouyang remembered, and there was a hint of triumphant smile on his face.

“Jiang Mo, is there something you need?” Dr. Bulano’s voice came through the communicator.

“Doctor, Dr. Ouyang wants to talk to you,” Jiang Mo said with a smile, then handed the communicator to Dr. Ouyang.

Dr. Ouyang took the communicator, his expression complex as he looked at Dr. Bulano on the screen.

He took a deep breath, trying to make his tone sound calmer: “Bulano, long time no see. I never thought you would join Dawn. That’s quite a surprise.”

Dr. Bulano chuckled, a hint of teasing in his voice: “Old Man Ouyang, there’s a lot more you haven’t thought of.”

“It seems Jiang Mo has already told you about Eevee, so I won’t hide it from you either.”

“That’s right, I’m now a member of Dawn, and our research has far exceeded your imagination. You little fellow have been thoroughly trampled underfoot by me.”

Watching Dr. Bulano’s arrogant demeanor, Dr. Ouyang’s face grew even uglier, but he still forced himself to suppress his displeasure and said, “Don’t flatter yourself, kid. Jiang Mo already told me that if it weren’t for him providing Mew’s hair, all your research would be a pile of failed garbage.”

“What I’m more interested in is, why did you join Dawn? That’s not like you.”

Dr. Bulano shrugged, saying in a relaxed tone, “I don’t care. Anyway, Eevee was my research, so I’m just better than you, old man.”

“As for why I joined Dawn, it’s a long story, but I can tell you that Dawn’s research resources and conditions far exceed those of the North America Alliance.”

Upon hearing this, Dr. Ouyang’s frown deepened, and not just because Dr. Bulano called him an old man.

He turned to Jiang Mo, his eyes full of doubt and inquiry: “Jiang Mo, what exactly is Dawn planning? Why would even a stubborn old man like Bulano be recruited by you?”

Jiang Mo smiled, not answering directly, but instead said, “Doctor, Dawn’s ideals are very grand. Given your relationship with my father, you should know a little bit. If you are interested, we welcome your joining at any time.”

Dr. Ouyang was silent for a moment, then sighed, his tone carrying a mix of helplessness and expectation: “It seems I really am old, and I can’t keep up with your pace. However, if Dawn is truly as you say, then I might consider it.”
