Chapter 2: Become a Trainer

“Thump, thump, thump!”

Early the next morning, Jiang Mo was woken up by a rapid knocking sound.

“Jiang Mo Ge Ge, hurry up and get up! Today’s the day you register as a Trainer!”

As soon as he got up and opened the door, a little girl with twin ponytails zipped in and then threw herself onto Jiang Mo’s bed, burrowing under the covers.

“Lin Junjun, how many times have I told you not to casually get into a boy’s bed? You’re a big girl now; you need to be careful.”

“Hehe, Jiang Mo Ge Ge, you’re not just anyone! Your bed is so warm, like a furnace, it’s too comfortable.”

Lin Junjun giggled, blinked her big, watery eyes, and then buried her head in the covers.

Lin Junjun was the daughter of Jiang Mo’s uncle, fifteen years old this year. During the school holidays, she had been staying at Jiang Mo’s house to play, and she had been Jiang Mo’s little shadow since she was a child.

Jiang Mo’s father seemed to be a wanted criminal by various alliances. Back then, due to certain reasons, he and his mother developed a relationship.

However, after the news became public, the Lin family paid a hefty price to protect his mother from the Alliance. But unexpectedly, upon returning to the family, they discovered their eldest daughter was already pregnant.

As the son of a wanted criminal, Jiang Mo was always ostracized within the Lin family, especially by his peers, who couldn’t stand him and often called him a bastard. Jiang Mo’s mother moved out of the Lin family for her son’s upbringing.

However, Jiang Mo had the mindset of an adult and couldn’t be bothered to argue with those little kids. With the physical enhancement of Tokiwa Power, plus some physical guidance, no one dared to mock him to his face anymore.

Only Lin Junjun would call him “Jiang Mo Ge Ge” repeatedly and would not hesitate to stand in front of him when others in the Lin family targeted him.

“Jiang Mo Ge Ge is not a bastard! He’s Aunt Lin Zhiqiu’s son! He’s my Lin Junjun’s Ge Ge!”

Jiang Mo still remembered a snot-nosed little girl angrily refuting a group of small boys for him, her eyes brimming with tears, making it seem as if she was the one who had been wronged at first glance.

With these experiences, Jiang Mo was quite lenient with Lin Junjun. After all, what bad intentions could a little girl have?

“Pika Pika!”

“Ah, it’s Pikachu! Jiang Mo Ge Ge, why is there such a big yellow mouse in your bed?!”

Last night, before going to sleep, Pikachu refused to go into its Poké Ball no matter what, so Jiang Mo had to sleep with it, which also helped to foster their bond.

Lin Junjun must have accidentally kicked it under the covers. At this moment, Pikachu scurried onto Jiang Mo’s shoulder, puffing out its cheeks and glaring angrily at Lin Junjun.

“Oh, this is my first Pokémon. I picked it out at the Breeder’s shop a few days ago. I’m planning to take it to register today.”

Jiang Mo had already planned it yesterday. The Alliance stipulates that a new Trainer can only own one Pokémon.

“So cute! My favorite Pokémon is Pikachu! It’s so fluffy, let me touch it quickly!”

Saying that, Lin Junjun pounced towards Pikachu.

“Pika Pika! (Don’t come any closer!)”

......

After going downstairs, Jiang Mo greeted his mother, Lin Zhiqiu, and briefly introduced Pikachu to her. As for its origin, he used the same story he had just used to fool Lin Junjun, saying he bought it at a Breeder’s shop a few days ago.

“Xiao Mo, have you really decided to make this Pikachu your Starter Pokémon? Actually, I’ve prepared a better option for you.”

“Mom, I’ve already decided. It’s this Pikachu. I believe this child will become my most capable partner.”

Seeing Jiang Mo’s insistence, Lin Zhiqiu didn’t try to persuade him further.

As the youngest and closest to Master Breeder among the top Breeders certified by the current Alliance, Lin Zhiqiu could sense that this Pikachu was very unusual and its potential seemed very high. (Note: Breeder levels are divided into Junior, Intermediate, Senior, Top, Master)

At this moment, Lin Zhiqiu was already contemplating how to get a perfect quality Thunder Stone for Jiang Mo. As a mother, she would only think of her child in every way.

In his previous life, Jiang Mo was an orphan and had never experienced familial affection. However, since coming to this world, he had received deep maternal love from Lin Zhiqiu. After all these years, he had truly come to see himself as Lin Zhiqiu’s son.

After tidying up briefly at home, Jiang Mo and Lin Junjun arrived at Star City’s largest Pokémon Center. Many people had already arrived early today, lining up, mostly to register as new Trainers.

Upon entering the Pokémon Center, Lin Junjun pulled Jiang Mo towards the VIP channel. As a direct descendant of the Lin family, Lin Junjun naturally had privileges and didn’t have to queue with the ordinary people outside.

Yes, Jiang Mo had long understood that the class system in this world was severely solidified, with a huge gap between rich and poor. The upper echelons of the Alliance controlled more than half of society’s resources, while the lowest strata of people were reduced to mere beasts of burden for production.

As for raising Pokémon, it consumed a large amount of resources, especially those powerful Pokémon that matured late. If your family didn’t have some mines, you truly couldn’t afford to raise them.

The most representative example was the Pseudo-Legendary Tyranitar. The minimum requirement for it to evolve from Larvitar to Tyranitar was to eat an entire mountain!

Although the Alliance would also provide Starter Pokémon that matured quickly and were powerful, such as the Starter Pokémon, to the public, the condition was to pay the Alliance 200,000 Pokémon Coins annually for fifteen consecutive years!

This also led to the fact that Trainers who could debut with a Starter Pokémon inevitably came from complex family backgrounds.

Generally, ordinary families would only raise Grass-type and Bug-type Pokémon like Oddish and Caterpie, which were less expensive and more affordable.

“By the way, Jiang Mo Ge Ge, although Pikachu is cute, why don’t you choose more powerful Pokémon? Aunt Lin Zhiqiu should be able to prepare a very excellent Starter Pokémon for you.”

Lin Junjun was a bit puzzled. After all, Pikachu was as common as a stray dog on the street. Its evolution cost was high, and its strength wasn’t particularly strong. Most people kept them as pets. With her aunt’s status as a Top Breeder, she could certainly arrange a very good Pokémon for Jiang Mo.

“Maybe it was love at first sight. Besides, I believe this little guy is no weaker than those Starter Pokémon.”

Jiang Mo stroked the Pikachu on his shoulder and replied. He decided to temporarily use Pikachu as his Starter Pokémon. The Game Panel’s evaluation of it was that of a protagonist from a certain world, so it must be different from ordinary Pikachus.

As for Shiny Gastly, it was still a bit too eye-catching. He would gradually reveal it after his strength grew, as stealing other people’s Pokémon was not uncommon in the dark side of this world.

“Pika, Pikachu!”

Pikachu also patted its little chest at this time, indicating that it was also very capable and should not be underestimated.

The VIP channel was indeed very efficient, and it was soon Jiang Mo’s turn to register.

“Pikachu, please go into your Poké Ball for a bit. I’ll let you out right away.”

Trainer registration required scanning the Poké Ball to register the initial Pokémon, so the Pokémon had to be inside the Poké Ball.

Although Pikachu didn’t like going into its Poké Ball, it still cooperated.

The registration process was simple. After the staff entered some basic information into the system, Jiang Mo officially became a Trainer.

After registering, the two walked out of the Pokémon Center.
