Chapter 35: Conquer new members

A Poliwag leaped out of the water in a beautiful arc, its small, body-colored feet splashing a small amount of water as they landed on the wetland.

After landing, the Poliwag wasn't in a hurry to practice walking; instead, it let out a few Growls at the calm water.

Seeing this, Luo Mu and Luxray paused, intending to see what the Poliwag was going to do.

The Poliwag continuously called out and encouraged the water, its expression looking a bit anxious.

After about a minute, a dense cluster of bubbles appeared on the calm water, as if something was rising to the surface. A moment later, three small heads, almost identical to the Poliwag, emerged from the water.

Clearly, these were three more Poliwag.

The four Poliwag seemed to be companions who operated as a group, and the first Poliwag to emerge was clearly the leader of the group.

The Poliwag that had first leaped out of the water alone continuously opened and closed its thick lips, somewhat like it was persuading the three Poliwag in the water to be brave and not be afraid.

The three Poliwag hesitated for a moment, but eventually wobbled out of the water and onto the land, cautiously following behind their leader and wobbling as they practiced walking.

Luo Mu, who was observing from a distance, murmured, "Not bad."

When a Poliwag hatches from a Poké Ball, it doesn't have feet, much like the metamorphosis stage of a tadpole; it only grows feet after a period of growth.

This Pokemon seems to have an innate desire for land deep in its genes. After growing feet, even if the ground is full of unknown dangers, they will still take the risk to land and practice walking.

What surprised Luo Mu the most was the leading Poliwag; it had already shown considerable courage and excellent leadership abilities in its early stages.

With a little training, it definitely has the potential to evolve into a Politoed!

Luo Mu immediately decided to capture all four Poliwag!

When it comes to capturing Pokemon, generally there are only three methods.

First is food temptation. The delicious food human Trainers create is incredibly attractive to wild Pokemon. In various regions, incidents of wild Pokemon stealing or attacking due to food in a Trainer's backpack are common.

There are only a few types of energy-providing food in the wild, and isolated snag berries trees are almost always occupied by stronger Pokemon, so going hungry is completely normal for wild Pokemon.

Beasts will never be slaves, unless food and lodging are provided.

Acting for three minutes, a lifetime of glory and wealth.

These are true reflections of the living conditions of many weaker wild Pokemon.

Swampert, when he was still a Marshtomp, was tricked by Luo Mu in this way.

The second method is a regular battle capture: defeating a wild Pokemon and then putting it into a Poké Ball.

Considering Luxray's combat power, Luo Mu silently chose to abandon this method.

The third is to cultivate a bond, allowing the other party to naturally want to follow you.

Besides these, there are actually hidden fourth and fifth methods.

For example, transforming into a Super Hisui person and using Sticky Bombs to capture, or the most outrageous, directly becoming a one-ball hero like a certain wealthy individual.

Luo Mu chose food temptation, starting with the soft approach, and if that didn't work, he'd go with the hard one.

The Poliwag were toddling in neat rows along the edge of the lake, ignoring their wobbly movements, they somewhat resembled the Pokemon Falinks.

Because he was worried that Luxray's presence would startle the Poliwag, Luo Mu approached alone.

His footsteps on the wetland quickly caught the attention of the Poliwag.

The three Poliwag in the back trembled and immediately wanted to jump into the lake, while the leading Poliwag looked at Luo Mu with wide, black, and bright eyes, both curious and wary.

Observing the Poliwag slowly move its feet to block in front of him so its companions could escape first, Luo Mu's smile grew wider. After approaching within two meters of the Poliwag, he stopped, crouched slightly, took out the pre-prepared food from his pocket, and gently tossed it over.

Plop.

Several small pieces of smoked dried fish landed on the wetland. The leading Poliwag froze, not knowing what Luo Mu meant.

The dried fish was one of the provisions Luo Mu carried; it was easy to carry, easy to store, and tasted good. If he were suddenly stranded in the wild, it could also provide nutrition and salt.

Poliwag, and most Pokemon, unlike ordinary pets, have no problem consuming human seasonings. Luo Mu wasn't worried that it would be harmful to them.

The leading Poliwag hadn't yet figured out Luo Mu's intention, but the three Poliwag behind him couldn't hold back any longer.

The faint aroma of the smoked dried fish was already overwhelmingly attractive to them, as they were still hungry. The Poliwag in the back showed looks of longing, gazing at the leading Poliwag with expectant eyes.

And the leading Poliwag looked back at Luo Mu.

Luo Mu showed a friendly smile and said, "Eat, let's be friends."

No matter how precocious the Poliwag leader was, he was still about the same age as his companions behind him. He hadn't seen much of the world or understood any tricks.

He truly believed Luo Mu's words. The Poliwag didn't hesitate, taking a Bite of a smoked dried fish and savoring it.

Seeing their leader eat, the Poliwag also began to eat their respective smoked dried fish.

By the time they finished eating, Luo Mu had moved much closer, almost just a step away.

This time, the Poliwag's guard was much lower. In their current worldview, Luo Mu, who provided food, was already equated with a good person.

Luo Mu seized the opportunity and began the final step. He showed an even more benevolent smile, successively taking out four red and white Poké Balls from his pocket and placing them on the ground. He said to the Poliwag, "Do you want to come with me? In the future, not only will there be no danger, but also abundant food supplies, many of which are even tastier than this smoked dried fish!"

"..."

After a moment of silence, the three Poliwag made their decision first, hopping and skipping to the red and white Poké Balls, looking at their leader with expectant eyes.

"Big Brother, with food, drink, and no danger, isn't this a hundred times better than being in the wild? ( /^▽^)/"

The Poliwag leader's face showed a look of shock; he hadn't expected his little companions to just give themselves away like that.

Hesitating for a moment, besides the delicious smoked dried fish, he was still more worried about his companions. The Poliwag leader could only helplessly walk to the red and white Poké Ball, setting an example by being the first to headbutt inside.

With their leader's demonstration, the three Poliwag followed suit, one by one selling themselves to Luo Mu.

"Meow!"

Luxray walked over with majestic cat-like steps, looked at the stunned Luo Mu, and found it somewhat amusing.

The Trainer had prepared so much, but before he could even use it, the four Poliwag had already given themselves away.
