Chapter 57: Take the Flame Badge

Not only could Kebi predict with his Psychic abilities, but he could also, like Nazhi, imbue his Psychic power into Pokémon, enhancing the power of their Psychic-type moves.

And Magnemite, coincidentally, had mastered a Psychic-type move: Gravity!

The move Gravity is incredibly practical; not only can it restrict an opponent's movements in battle, but it also has extraordinary uses in daily training.

"Gravity."

Kebi imbued Magnemite with his Psychic power, applying a single layer of Gravity to Torkoal.

Torkoal was quite unlucky; it already carried a heavy Iron Defense shell, and with Gravity doubling its weight, Torkoal was directly slammed to the ground.

As the official commentator, Xiao Gang immediately explained the situation to Xiao Yao and Xiao Sheng.

"I didn't expect Kebi's Magnemite to have mastered such a rare move as Gravity. The heavier the Pokémon, the greater the impact of the Gravity move."

Ya Sha was practically grinding her teeth. How could there be such a disgusting move as Gravity!

"Torkoal, use Iron Defense!"

Before Torkoal could adapt to the doubled Gravity, the only option was to use Iron Defense to boost its defense, hunker down in its shell, and wait for an opportunity.

Kebi spoke for the first time in a battle, "Miss Ya Sha, Gravity can be stacked, and Iron Defense cannot withstand Gravity. Magnemite, use Gravity again."

Ya Sha gritted her teeth and gave the command, "Flamethrower!"

She couldn't let Kebi stack Gravity any further, or Torkoal would exhaust most of its stamina just trying to adapt to the Gravity.

Staying in a double Gravity environment meant that every breath consumed stamina.

Although Torkoal's body couldn't move, a turtle's neck was quite flexible.

Kebi once again used telepathy, "Move one meter to the upper right; Torkoal won't be able to hit you there."

This position was perfectly in Torkoal's blind spot for attacks.

Furthermore, under double Gravity, Torkoal's movement of extending its neck became much slower.

The flames it spewed couldn't hit Magnemite at all.

It could only watch as Magnemite once again stacked another layer of Gravity onto Torkoal.

With triple Gravity, the ground where Torkoal stood seemed to show signs of sinking.

"Torkoal, use Smokescreen."

She had originally intended to use Torkoal's restricted movement under Gravity to lure Magnemite closer and ambush it with Flamethrower.

Unexpectedly, Kebi not only didn't fall for it but also had Magnemite fly into Torkoal's attack blind spot.

Ya Sha saw the blue light in Kebi's eyes and realized that Kebi was a Psychic.

She also understood that Kebi was using telepathy to command Magnemite in battle, and his Psychic intuition to evade the attacks of Slugma and Torkoal.

While Pokémon battles were supposed to rely on the abilities of the Trainer and Pokémon, Psychics were perhaps a bit too unfair.

Indeed, Ya Sha still preferred battling straightforward opponents like Ash.

Battling Kebi was not satisfying at all.

Smokescreen had no effect on a Psychic, and the triple Gravity successfully landed on Torkoal.

"Kuu!"

Torkoal let out a miserable cry, as if it was about to be crushed.

"Torkoal!" Hearing the pained cry, Ya Sha's heart couldn't help but panic.

She took a deep breath, forcing herself to calm down.

"Charge."

Regardless of Torkoal's condition, Magnemite continued to Charge and power up.

"Charge Beam!"

An Electric Beam shot into the Smokescreen, blocked by Torkoal's hard shell.

"Continue!" Kebi said calmly, putting immense psychological pressure on Ya Sha.

With successive Electric Beams, Magnemite quickly sought Torkoal's weaknesses by analyzing its abilities.

Ya Sha wasn't going to sit idly by. She clenched her fists, determined to fight to the death and show the spirit of the Fuefuki Gym.

"Torkoal, stand up and use Burn Up!"

Responding to Ya Sha's resolve, Torkoal spewed white smoke from its shell and nostrils, its entire body glowing red, and its four legs extended from its shell. It gritted its teeth and stood up.

Towards Magnemite in the sky, it spewed a pillar of fire, red tinged with white.

"Dodge to the left, Thunderbolt."

Although it was Thunderbolt, this bolt of lightning was even more intense than Thunder.

When it landed on Torkoal, it instantly rendered Torkoal unable to battle.

But even so, Torkoal remained standing in place, refusing to fall.

Kebi immediately stepped forward, dispelling the lingering Gravity status on Torkoal and healing Torkoal with Heal Pulse.

"Miss Ya Sha, please give Torkoal the best charcoal, and after I finish healing him, send him to the Pokémon Center immediately."

Kebi greatly admired the fighting spirit displayed by Ya Sha and Torkoal, but this fighting style was very damaging to the body.

Ash and Pikachu were the same; in their rivalry with Raichu, Pikachu was hit so hard that its heart stopped, almost costing it its life.

【Aptitude: Purple (24/100)】

Looking at Torkoal's improvement, Kebi couldn't help but smile.

He was clearly the challenger, so why was Ya Sha the one whose spirit was sublimated?

Xiao Yao looked at Kebi's handsome profile, "Big Brother Kebi is amazing! He actually defeated Miss Ya Sha's two Pokémon with just a newly caught Magnemite."

Even Kebi hadn't expected battles after his Psychic abilities improved to be so smooth.

He had even specifically swapped in Chimchar, but it didn't even get a chance to appear.

"This is the Superior Flame Badge of the Fuefuki Gym. It can effectively boost a Pokémon's special attack and slightly increase its speed, serving as proof of your victory over me."

"Thank you."

Pinning the Flame Badge to his clothes, Kebi felt a resonance between the two badges. After all, both increased special attack and speed, perfectly complementing each other.

Under Kebi's treatment, Torkoal regained consciousness. Ya Sha fed him charcoal and stroked his turtle head.

"Torkoal, you did very well." She took out a Poké Ball and recalled him.

Kebi placed his hand on Ya Sha's shoulder, "I'll take you to the Pokémon Center."

Ya Sha allowed Kebi to place his hand on her shoulder. In a flash, she found herself already at the entrance of the Pokémon Center.

"Go quickly."

Ya Sha ran into the Pokémon Center, marveling at how convenient it was to have Psychic abilities.

Not only did it benefit in battle, but it also made movement so convenient.

Kebi Teleported back, and Xiao Sheng came over, "Big Brother Kebi, when you challenge the Fighting Dojo, are you planning to use Nosepass?"

Kebi rubbed Xiao Sheng's fluffy head and asked, "Why would you think that?"

"Because you really like challenging Gyms with type disadvantages!"

"I say that because a type disadvantage can give Pokémon better training. Trainers shouldn't always think about battling with types that counter the enemy."

Last time, Piplup's type-disadvantaged challenge against the Zǐjǐn Gym resulted in significant improvement.

On the contrary, this time, because he interfered with the battle using his Psychic abilities, he easily defeated the Fuefuki Gym.

But this wasn't what Kebi wanted.

He hoped to see Pokémon achieve breakthroughs in strength and will during battle.

He wasn't a masochist; rather, he was too greedy, wanting both.

The training that was lacking from the Fuefuki Gym could only be obtained in Mt. Chimney.

Ash excitedly ran back, "Mr. Mula is amazing! He taught Torkoal Sunny Day in just a few moves; all that's left is continuous practice."

"Kebi, how was your battle?"

Kebi showed his Flame Badge, "I've already won."

Ash bowed to the newly arrived Mula and said:

"Mr. Mula, then we'll be taking our leave. We hope to see your collection of Pokémon haikus soon."

Kebi, however, waved his hand and said, "You guys go back. I need to go to Mt. Chimney. After my training, I'll go to Battle Island and Rustboro City to get badges. If I can't meet up with you in Petalburg City..."

"...then we'll meet in Fortree City. If I haven't arrived by then, just wait for me. I'll take you to explore an interesting place."
