Chichi only felt a chill in his hand, and before his brain could react, he subconsciously let go.
It took him several breaths to realize what had just happened.
“Impossible, this is all an illusion.” Chichi kept trying to convince himself, but he couldn't explain everything in front of him.
“Right, dreaming, I must be dreaming.” Chichi tried to pinch his arm, but unexpectedly, he didn't feel a trace of pain.
“I really am dreaming!” Chichi said in surprise, but he felt his arm was cold.
He subconsciously looked down and saw that what he was pinching was not his own arm at all, but a pale arm.
He followed his gaze forward, and this arm stretched higher and higher, and its owner also appeared in front of Chichi.
A disheveled woman stood in front of Chichi at some unknown time.
From her scattered hair, Chichi saw the crimson eyes hidden within the hair.
Those eyes were staring at him unblinkingly, as if asking, “Why did you pinch me?”
Chichi took a deep breath, chuckled awkwardly, and seemed on the verge of tears as he spoke: “Sorry, I pinched the wrong person.”
He forced himself to act as if nothing had happened, turned his head, and ran into the dense fog.
The situations encountered by the rest of the people were similar; they either ran into a woman or a baby, and in the end, some fainted, and some scattered.
On the shore, Mu Li asked while cooking seafood, “Gardevoir, how are they doing?”
“Most of them have fainted, and a few are still running around,” Gardevoir said helplessly.
Mu Li couldn't help but roll his eyes and say, “Why did they faint? Are they that easily scared?”
“It hasn't even started yet, and it's already over.” Gardevoir expressed her helplessness, “Gengar said he hasn't had enough fun yet.”
Mu Li pouted and said, “That's enough, they're timid, don't break them with your games.”
“By the way, where did that little guy come from?” Mu Li suddenly asked.
“Not sure, there seems to be a place on the island that can block my Psychic ability, and that little guy seems to have come out from there,” Gardevoir explained.
“Oh? It can even block your Psychic? That's interesting,” Mu Li said with some excitement.
“It seems to be some kind of ancient ruin, probably left by the ancestors,” Gardevoir explained, “But I really dislike the aura inside; it feels full of malice.”
“Malice?” Mu Li's brows had furrowed into a knot at some point.
After a long while, he said, “We'll go see what's inside later.
Before that, seal off that area so no one else accidentally enters.”
Deep in the forest, Gengar looked helplessly at a gray-black fox-like Pokémon beside him and couldn't help but sigh, “These people are too timid.”
This Pokémon was Zorua, a Pokémon capable of transforming into other Pokémon or even human children.
Young Zorua are very timid, but the Zorua in front of Gengar seemed a bit different.
“A Li told us to stop, let's play again next time,” Gengar said helplessly.
“A Li? Who's that?” Zorua asked in a childish voice.
“A Li is my trainer, you've met him before when you went to the treehouse,” Gengar explained, while simultaneously squeezing himself into a long stick, seemingly trying to transform into a human form.
“Trainer?” Zorua shook his head, a hint of sadness on his face.
“So you're leaving?”
Gengar nodded and said, “Yes, I'm leaving.
Do you want to stay here?”
Zorua shook his head and said, “No, I can't leave this island.”
“Why can't you leave?” Gengar asked curiously.
“I don't know either.” Zorua shook his head and said, “As soon as I try to leave this island, my life force drains away.”
“??” Gengar also seemed unsure of what to do.
“Do you want to come with me to see A Li first? Maybe he'll have a solution?”
“Really?” A glimmer of light appeared in Zorua's eyes.
Gengar nodded excitedly and said, “Really, he's the most amazing person I've ever met.”
Half an hour later, Gengar dragged a pile of unconscious people back to the beach.
“What happened to them?” Wang Xiang looked at Deng Fei and the others with a speechless expression.
“Uh, some were scared unconscious, and some were running around everywhere and were put to sleep by Gengar using Hypnosis,” Mu Li nodded and said.
“Is there a way to wake them up?” Wang Xiang asked.
Mu Li showed a brilliant smile: “That's simple, Jigglypuff, a set of Double Slap.”
Five minutes later, everyone woke up with faces swollen like pig heads.
“Where is this? Who am I? Why does my face hurt so much?”
Wang Xiang feigned confusion and said, “What's wrong with you guys? How did you fall asleep in the forest?
If A Li hadn't found you, I would have called the police.”
“Ah? Fell asleep in the forest?” Chichi showed a bewildered expression.
“Yes, what exactly happened to you?” Mu Li also pretended not to know and asked.
“Wait, wait!” Deng Fei took a deep breath, seemingly trying to make himself more alert.
“I remember we went to look for food, and then we found Leppa Berry and wild bananas, and we were about to come back.”
“That's right.” Chichi nodded and said, “But we seemed to have gotten lost on the way back.”
“Then the Pokémon all fainted, and no matter how hard we tried, we couldn't wake them up,” Wang Yijia continued.
“Right, right.” Peng Xiaochang also echoed, “Later, a cameraman said he saw a white shadow, and then…”
“Then what happened?” Mu Li pressed on.
“Then I don't know what happened either.” Peng Xiaochang's eyes gradually glazed over.
“I only remember a thick fog appearing, and then I fainted.”
“I remember a woman, her face was rotten…” Wang Qin added, but his eyes seemed filled with fear.
“I remember I saw a child,” Chichi said.
“Woman and child?” Mu Li's eyes were filled with confusion.
“Are you having hallucinations? What kind of woman and child?”
Wang Qin quickly added, “She was wearing white clothes, disheveled, with red eyes, and her face was rotten…”
“That child had no facial features at all, it felt like they had been gouged out…” Chichi felt the air around him getting colder the more he spoke.
“Don't you feel a bit cold?” Wang Yijia couldn't help but hug his arms.
“Cold? I think I'm fine.” Mu Li said, “The woman and child you're talking about, are they them?”
Mu Li extended his finger and pointed behind everyone.
Chichi and the others slowly turned their heads, just in time to see a woman in white, with disheveled hair, floating in the air, and beside her, a child with facial features like a Dark Void, grinning at them.
