Chapter 52: Misunderstanding
“Old man, calm down!” Mo Tan felt the icy, bone-chilling killing intent behind him and quickly turned to try and soothe him: “There must be a misunderstanding here. I’ll help you…”
Buzz!!
The sound of air being torn apart cut off the latter half of his sentence. The Old Orc, clearly out of his mind, pulled the trigger fiercely, leaping into the air. With a terrifying aura, he raised the chainsaw and charged down, mumbling a roar: “No more talking!”
Although Mo Tan dodged the attack with a sudden leap and dive, a deep gully was cut into the ground behind him. The piercing sound of the chainsaw, like a death knell, sent chills down their spines. Even Cordova, with his powerful attributes in all aspects, didn’t have the courage to turn and fight.
After all, they were indeed in the wrong!
“This Orc…” The Azure Dragon Feimigeer’s draconic eyes scanned the Old Orc, who had transformed into a chainsaw maniac, with interest. He sighed, “He seemed to have very average physical fitness just now, but how does he suddenly possess such powerful combat ability? Neither his strength nor his speed seems achievable for his physical level.”
Cordova, dragging Mo Tan, stumbled and crawled to the side of the giant dragon. Grabbing Feimigeer’s claw, he roared at the top of his lungs: “Run! Hurry up!!”
Mo Tan hadn’t intended to run, but Cordova was holding him tightly at the moment and said very seriously: “You can feel bad later, but if you dare to stay now, you’ll definitely die no matter what!”
“Wait a minute!” Feimigeer mumbled, “But I’m really exhausted… You know…”
Buzz buzz buzz!!
“Kill you… kill you…” Drool dripped from the Old Orc’s mouth. His eyes had lost focus, and his hands frantically pulled the chainsaw unconsciously. He looked sickly and eerie: “Kill you… kill you!!!”
Feimigeer suddenly looked terrified, his huge eyes wide as he roared: “What kind of combat power is this?!”
He then stomped on the ground, flapped his wings wildly, and in a blink of an eye, was airborne.
Two minutes later…
“Kill you! Kill, kill, kill!!”
The Old Orc, standing still on the ground, mumbled a few more words, then rolled his eyes and lay down. After a while, he began to snore happily. The engineering creation still clutched in his hand gradually stopped spinning, slowly falling silent.
All around was a dreadful ruin. The farm, destroyed three times in less than a day, looked like a war-torn site, permeated with endless desolation and sorrow.
…
High in the sky
“Ugh… ooh…” Feimigeer panted heavily, flapping his wings desperately, looking utterly exhausted. Mo Tan, hanging from his left dragon claw, even saw him sticking out his tongue.
Cordova, clutching the other claw, let out a long sigh of relief, exclaiming with lingering fear, “We finally got away. Who exactly was that old man? Even Feimigeer, you panicked.”
“Actually, it wasn’t very strong, even harmless…” The giant dragon’s voice trembled slightly: “But I just felt that guy’s aura was super terrifying. Phew, never mind that for now, I’m really about to die from exhaustion!”
Cordova pouted: “You’re a dragon, right? Why do you get tired so easily?”
“I brought you from Tian Zhu Mountain all the way here, then teleported myself back, and then flew back in the shortest possible time!” The giant dragon panted without any regard for its image: “To be faster, I used five Gust Runes simultaneously! After landing, I hadn’t even caught my breath before I had to take you two up again. Now I’m pretty much completely out of energy…”
As he spoke, he suddenly swayed, the entire dragon tilting dangerously in mid-air before he managed to regain his balance.
“Are you alright?!” Cordova was terrified, his face pale as he said, “Please don’t suddenly get the urge to play a plane crash with us! Falling from this high, even if we two are fine, my friend here would be instantly flattened into a box!”
Mo Tan was also startled and quickly said: “Brother Dragon, hang in there!”
“I can’t hold on for much longer!” Feimigeer, flapping his wings desperately, gritted his teeth: “Tian Zhu Mountain is definitely out of the question today. Is there any nearby place where I can land and rest?!”
The dragon’s condition was indeed not good. Mo Tan had seen Tian Zhu Mountain in Mag’s journal before. Although that place was also in the Northwest Continent, it was quite far from Anka Market. On foot, it would be tough to reach even in ten days or half a month. Yet, this giant dragon named Feimigeer managed to make an almost round trip within a few hours, and the second time seemed to be a full-throttle sprint. It was no wonder he was sticking out his tongue now!
He briefly recalled the simple map in the journal and suddenly said softly: “Anderhill Ruins!”
“Hmm?” Cordova blinked: “What did you say?”
Feimigeer, however, stuck out his tongue in satisfaction (he was too tired to nod), and flapped his wings a little wider, saying weakly: “Good idea! Anderhill Ruins is a good place. Not only is it in the same direction as Tian Zhu Mountain, but it’s also not far from here. That’s the place! You two hold on tight!!”
With that, he squeezed out the strength he had when he first hatched, swaying as he desperately flapped his almost cramping wings, flying towards the Southwest…
…
At the same time, Anderhill Ruins
Amidst a landscape of broken walls and ruins, four people and one beast were in a standoff…
Wan Yang, or rather Huo Yan Yang as he could now be called, was panting as he looked at the giant beast in front of him, drenched in sweat as if he had just been pulled out of water. In front of him, two Orc warriors stood ready, holding up huge tusk shields…
Behind the three injured individuals stood a thin Old Orc, his face full of wrinkles. He held a bone staff, carried a huge black totem on his back, and wore a snow-white priest’s robe that was clearly too large. He seemed to be dozing off with his eyes narrowed.
“Mentor!” Huo Yan Yang looked back at his gaunt mentor, Mondo Pan, who also held the title of Great Priest, with a bitter smile. He anxiously cried out: “At this rate, no matter how much the ancestors can bluff, it’s useless. The three of us really can’t hold on any longer!”
The latter, however, shook his head slightly, gently stroked the bone staff in his hand, and softly said: “On the path to the Sacred Mountain, every trial has meaning, child. You must remember, you are a War Priest…”
And then there was no more to say.
Huo Yan Yang really wanted to cry. He was indeed a War Priest, and a promising new War Priest in the eyes of these NPCs, but the crucial problem was that all the skills he currently possessed were support-type, and their usage conditions were ridiculously demanding…
Even if the two tribal warriors beside him were not weak, the sub-dragon in front of them wouldn't be easily killed by Orc warriors who had only been buffed with Bloodlust!
“Roar!!” The sub-dragon, with a small portion of rock dragon bloodline, roared. Its body, like an ancient rhinoceros, was immediately covered with a layer of earthy yellow membrane. This was one of its few innate abilities, with a very singular purpose: to make itself more resilient!
It was fortunate for this; otherwise, if this beast, with its high HP, defense, and strength, had two more offensive skills, Huo Yan Yang and the other two tribal warriors would probably have already fallen.
Its huge head lowered, the armored dragon-beast began to paw at the ground with its front hooves. This was a sign that it was about to Charge!
Striking the war drum hanging at his waist twice, Huo Yan Yang applied two Bloodlust buffs to the two individuals in front of him, then immediately shouted: “You two, spread out. Later, try to see if you can overturn it from both sides. I’ll hold it back!”
“But, Priest-sama…”
“Just do it first! I won’t die anytime soon!”
“Yes!!”
After the two in front moved aside as instructed, Huo Yan Yang pulled a bone dagger from the outside of his boot, then forcefully slashed his arm, drawing out a gush of hot blood.
The Great Priest behind him revealed a subtle smile…
Skill activated, Blood-Soaked Battle Song!
The handsome Orc with long red hair seemed to struggle with his expression, but he still let out a hysterical howl the moment the enemy began to Charge:
“The ~ river ~ flows east, wah!!!”
A light red aura continuously emanated from his pores, then instantly flowed back, coating his exposed skin with a layer of blood!
“The stars in the sky point to the Big Dipper, wah!!!”
His right arm, which had suddenly expanded by a circle, fiercely pushed forward. The nearly doubled strength in that instant allowed Huo Yan Yang to actually block the armored dragon-beast’s Charge, which hadn’t fully built up momentum. Although he was still shaken to the point of spitting three liters of blood and losing nearly half his health, he still successfully halted the enemy’s advance!
“Hehehehe!” Huo Yan Yang’s handsome face was inexplicably flushed, and his still bleeding left hand also grabbed on, firmly pressing the opponent in place: “To the Big Dipper, wah!!!”
The armored dragon-beast let out a low growl, just about to send this frantically noisy little thing flying when it was struck by a wooden stake, making its eyes see stars!
“Life and death ~ ~!” Huo Yan Yang lowered his head, holding the totem pole he had just taken from his back with both hands, wildly slamming it onto the face (head?) of this low-level sub-dragon: “A bowl of wine, wah!!”
The two Orc warriors beside him were incredibly excited, roaring and pouncing forward, cheering non-stop: “Good! Priest-sama is mighty, wah!!”
The armored dragon-beast was, after all, only a relatively weak sub-dragon. After the yellow membrane on its body was shattered by the two strong men in a flurry of blows, it finally showed signs of defeat. After being struck on both sides of its torso, it let out an earth-shattering roar, desperately opening its mouth to spew something, but was shoved back by Huo Yan Yang, who roared, “You have it, I have it, everyone has it, wah!”
And then…
A clear dragon roar suddenly echoed from the sky!
Huo Yan Yang, who had just shed his shame and was about to feel invigorated, immediately felt his legs go weak. Was this what happened when you bullied the young and the old one came?!
Just as this sub-dragon was about to be dealt with, a pure-blooded one appeared!?
Muttering ‘hehehehe, everyone has it, wah’, Huo Yan Yang looked up and indeed found a huge figure high in the distance. That was clearly a genuine giant dragon!
And looking at its rapidly flapping wings and its increasingly loud dragon roars, it was clearly here for a thousand-mile rescue!
“Yan Yang, you all step back!” The Great Priest, who had been resting with his eyes closed, said softly. He then surprisingly lifted his arm, which was not much thicker than a stick, and with a single hand, picked up the giant totem pole behind him, which was at least two and a half meters tall, and slammed it down in front of him with a thud: “This is no longer a trial you can bear!”
The three immediately abandoned the heavily injured armored dragon-beast and quickly scurried behind the Great Priest.
“That giant dragon’s emotions are very unstable.” Great Priest Mondo sighed, then gently patted the totem pole in front of him with his backhand: “I must first calm it down before I can communicate with it… earth spirits, please heed my call…”
The air suddenly grew heavy. Then, Huo Yan Yang and the others saw a dark yellow halo suddenly appear in mid-air, hovering briefly above the Great Priest, then beginning to spread towards the increasingly oppressive giant dragon!
The other party also reacted in time, immediately letting out a clear dragon roar: “Damn it!”
Huh?
Why did that dragon roar just now sound like he could understand it…
Huo Yan Yang was momentarily stunned, then he witnessed an incredibly shocking scene.
The giant dragon, swept by the halo, actually trembled all over, then fell straight down from mid-air!
【The Great Priest’s power is terrifying!】
The two Orc warriors beside him were instantly dumbfounded. Looking back, the Great Priest, with his somewhat stiff expression, suddenly appeared much taller and more magnificent in their minds!
“Mentor’s magic is boundless! Invincible in attack, victorious in battle, his divine presence covers the Central Plains, his powers are vast, his immortal blessings last forever, and his lifespan rivals the heavens!” Huo Yan Yang also said nothing, immediately turned and knelt before his great mentor.
But why was the great mentor looking utterly bewildered at this moment…?
“Are you crazy?!”
The dust not far away gradually settled, revealing the ice-blue adult giant dragon roaring loudly towards them: “I flew for so long and almost died of exhaustion on the way. I finally found a landing spot, so why did you knock me down for no reason?!”
…
So, this dragon wasn’t here to cause trouble?
Sweat immediately beaded on the Great Priest’s forehead. He repeatedly waved his hands: “Misunderstanding! We were just dealing with a violent sub-dragon. We are extremely sorry for accidentally injuring you just now!”
The two tribal warriors exchanged glances, their admiration growing. No wonder he was the Great Priest; look at how he spoke, not a single flaw!
“Oh ~ So you guys were fighting a monster?” Another voice sounded from the giant dragon’s feet. Then, several people saw a tall, humanoid figure, covered in dust, walk towards them. As he passed the armored dragon-beast, he stopped.
The sharp, gleaming, pointed ‘staff’ was raised high. Cordova nodded to Huo Yan Yang and the others, then backhanded the still bewildered sub-dragon, smashing its head until it bled. He shouted: “Then allow me to assist you all in battle!”
