Chapter 16: Dominating the Billboard charts, Miami News

On June 16th, the latest Billboard charts were released, with "Believer" taking the top spot, "Numb" at second, "IDontWannaCry" at third, and "Baby" at fourth. "Believer" sold 1.6 million copies that week, "Numb" sold 800,000 copies, and "Baby" sold 500,000 copies.

As soon as the charts were out, everyone went crazy. Selling over 1.6 million copies in a single week was the best performance outside of Michael Jackson and Madonna. It even boosted the sales of "Baby" and "Numb," an incredible miracle.

At this time, Linton arrived in Miami. Daniel called him, shouting into the phone, "Linton, you're invincible! I'm throwing a huge celebration party when you get back."

Linton hung up the phone and walked out of the employee entrance of a large shopping mall, the venue for his autograph session.

The already set up record signing event was packed with people, forming a snaking line that stretched endlessly. Everyone held copies of the "Believer" album and large posters of Linton.

When his figure appeared at the signing event, a deafening roar immediately erupted from the crowd, and the security guards began nervously maintaining order.

"Linton! Linton!"

The fans' shouts gradually transitioned from chaotic noise to synchronized chants, all of which proved that his popularity in Miami was growing deeper and deeper with the promotion of "Baby," "Numb," and "Believer," reaching an incredibly high level.

"Linton, our whole family loves you, especially my little grandson."

A Caucasian grandmother was arranged to be first. She handed the vinyl record from her grandson's hand to Linton and also asked for a photo.

"No problem." Linton politely signed his name and even wrote a message for the grandmother's grandson.

Then he sat down, lowered his head, and began signing rapidly, his pen flying across the records handed to him, signing one every five seconds, an incredibly fast speed.

"Linton, I love you." A girl took the opportunity to confess.

"Thank you, I love you all too."

"Could you sign one more on me?" After signing the single disc, a Caucasian girl made a new request, pointing to her chest. Linton's face flushed, and he quickly finished signing on her chest.

"Could you sign one more on my back?"

"Could you sign one more on my face?"

"Could you sign one more on my butt?"

All sorts of bizarre requests left Linton in awe. Of course, signing on a butt was impossible to fulfill.

Then there were sudden hugs, forced kisses, people laughing with joy on the spot, and others crying hysterically – all kinds of people, every type imaginable.

"Linton, I bought all your singles." A Black girl's voice rang out in front of Linton. Three discs were placed on the table with a clatter. "You know you love me, I know you care, Just shout whenever, and I'll be there...." She even started singing on the spot.

"Is that so? Thank you for your support."

Linton signed all three discs and then politely pushed them back.

He signed intensely for nearly two hours before signaling to the mall staff beside him to stop new fans from entering.

"The signing is almost over, we're no longer accepting new people in line." A staff member went to the end of the queue and pulled up a cordon. "That's all for today, Linton is very tired, please cooperate!"

"Linton, could you sign for all of us? This one, and this one..."

A middle-aged aunt at the end of the line handed over a large stack of discs. Linton looked up and saw that the long line for the signing had disappeared. A few fans separated by the cordon were still waiting there, holding discs and looking at him with eager anticipation.

"Okay, no problem." Linton signed the remaining stack of discs.

"A group photo?" The middle-aged aunt took out the camera she brought.

"Alright."

Linton stood up, maintaining a smile, and let Mira help take a group photo. He also helped sign for the few fans separated by the cordon, only then concluding the signing event, causing the fans to cheer and jump for joy.

"You're the most approachable and polite superstar I've ever met, Linton."

The mall manager came over to shake hands. "Signing for over 2 hours straight, you must be tired, right?"

"Indeed." Linton rubbed his shoulders with a wry smile.

"Could you please sign these 50 posters for us? They can be used for future lucky draws when selling your discs."

"Bring them over."

"Thank you. Could you take a group photo with all our staff?"

"Alright."

"And could you sign for all our staff members?"

"Alright."

After finishing everything, as soon as he left the mall, he saw a small pickup truck on the road across the street suddenly make an emergency stop, pulling up in front of three pedestrians who had just come out of a bank.

"Hey! Kids! I just saw the money in your hands, hand it over, hand it over!"

The car door opened, and two Cubans, the driver and the passenger, held handguns, their dark muzzles pointing directly at the three people.

"Quick! Quick!" They nervously kept looking around. The streets of Miami were bustling with people, and they had already attracted the attention of many passersby. "I'll count to three, if you don't give it to us, I'll shoot! One!"

The unlucky three, after all, weren't foolish enough to resist at gunpoint from the Cubans. They reluctantly threw over the US dollars they had just withdrawn from the bank.

"F*** you! Hurry!" The other party grabbed the thrown dollars, stepped on the accelerator, and the pickup truck quickly started, emitting black smoke.

"F*** you! Why don't you Cuban scumbags get out of the United States!" One of them cursed.

"We're here because the United States Government invited us, you idiots! You pirates from Europe should go back to Europe." The Cubans' reply came from a distance.

"Don't let us see you again, or you'll be sorry!" The three shouted verbal threats at the black-smoking rear of the truck.

Afterward, the three called the police. By the time the police arrived late, the Cuban robbers had long disappeared without a trace.

Linton and his companions witnessed the entire event, utterly dumbfounded and disbelieving. This was broad daylight, on a busy street in the city center.

What about other places, other times? One could imagine that such criminal behavior would only become more rampant.

Could Miami, known as a vacation paradise, still be considered safe?

"Sigh, the public security in the United States is getting worse and worse," Mira complained.

"Yes, after the Bay of Pigs Incident, the United States Government continuously criticized Cuba for restricting emigration. As a result, the Cubans were too malicious and released 150,000 various prisoners, mentally ill people, hooligans, and prostitutes into the United States.

Miami, just across the sea, suffered terribly and was ruined beyond recognition. Look, these people are still causing trouble. I wonder how the government will clean up this mess later?" Duke, who was more concerned with politics, understood the true cause of the problem.

"It's all the fault of those politicians, and in the end, it's the ordinary people who suffer."

"Indeed, I heard that these Cuban immigrants are no longer content with causing trouble in Miami and have started spreading throughout the entire state of Florida."

"God bless, I hope these people don't come to harm Los Angeles."
