Chapter 123: 12 people

Inside Weng City, ten minutes had already passed.

The maternal uncle came down from the wall, just about to speak, when Li Yu said to him, “We need to go out again. Someone ambushed us on the way out today. Please call Yang Tianlong, Gang Zi, and Xiao Hang for me.”

When they ran back to the base just now, they didn't drive, and it was raining, with occasional zombies on the roadside, so there was no time to stop and properly discuss the interrogation results.

Now that they knew, Li Yu felt compelled to go out again and resolve this hidden danger.

Those who escaped from the driving school last time might stir up trouble again.

If they didn't deal with them quickly now, they might not be able to find them after a while. At this moment, these people were probably still waiting for news from the middle-aged man who had followed them.

Upon hearing Li Yu's words, the maternal uncle understood the urgency of the situation and immediately called Yang Tianlong and others who were in the base. Yang Tianlong, upon hearing that someone had specifically ambushed them, quickly ran towards Li Gang.

After swapping two vehicles inside Weng City, the six people set off.

After several days of rain, it abruptly stopped on this morning.

The air was filled with moisture, and the humidity was palpable, yet one could also smell freshness with each breath.

The morning light was faintly visible, and the rising sun was like fire. In this early morning, a gentle breeze blew, and feeling the faint warmth of the sun, Li Yu's fatigue seemed to vanish instantly. Although he had dozed off for a while sleeping outside last night, he couldn't truly relax in that environment.

The journey was silent.

Having replenished their bullets, Li Yu looked at the fully armed Yang Tianlong and the others, feeling full of confidence.

They switched to two fully charged electric vehicles and drove along.

Li Yu, in the passenger seat, saw the car of the people who had been tracking them on the National Highway.

The car that had crashed into the tree was no longer smoking, gasoline had spilled all over the ground, and the shattered glass seemed to tell others what had just happened there.

Besides the gasoline flowing on the ground, there was also a red, mottled stain not far away.

Other than that, there were no other remains; the zombies, like locusts, had devoured everything cleanly.

Under the sunlight, the blood-stained ground reflected a demonic luster.

The vehicles passed silently and quickly, soon approaching the Gas Station.

The Gas Station remained the same, its red signboard reflecting light and shining brightly under the sun.

“Tie Zi, where exactly did the person you interrogated say those people were?” Li Yu asked Li Tie, telling him to stop the car a short distance from the Gas Station.

“It’s less than 1 kilometer from the Gas Station, past the bridge, towards the town, there’s a Xuanba KTV. I remember there used to be a restaurant downstairs there. It’s right there.”

Li Yu nodded upon hearing this, took out his walkie-talkie, and said to Zhao Dapao and the others in the other car, “This time, leave no lingering trouble. Resolve everything. When we get there, Tie Zi, I, and Da Pao will go upstairs to find people.”

“Gang Zi, Tianlong, Xiao Hang, you all block downstairs, don't let anyone escape. Leave no one alive!” Li Yu stated decisively.

Everyone was a bit astonished by Li Yu's attitude. It seemed these people had truly angered Li Yu.

After arranging everyone’s roles, the two vehicles began to drive in that direction.

Before Li Yu and the others could get close, Li Hang saw someone on the roof of that building, seemingly observing the surroundings.

The person looked in Li Yu's direction and then quickly disappeared from the rooftop.

“Brother, someone on their rooftop seemed to have seen us,” Li Hang said to Li Yu.

Upon hearing this, Li Yu quickly adjusted the plan, “Speed up. We’ll surround this building first and not let anyone escape.”

In less than a minute, Li Yu and the others were almost at the building, less than 50 meters away.

Just then, Li Yu saw four or five people running out, carrying bags.

These people also saw Li Yu’s cars. They hadn’t expected Li Yu and his group to arrive so quickly, and their faces were filled with panic, making them run even faster.

In the car, Li Yu leaned out and immediately opened fire. Zhao Dapao, in the other car, also leaned out and started shooting.

Two of these people, upon seeing Li Yu's vehicles, immediately ran towards the alley behind. Bullets narrowly grazed one person's calf, and the two ran into the alley behind.

The other three were shot dead the moment Li Yu and his group opened fire.

Within 5 seconds, the vehicles arrived downstairs. Li Yu quickly got out of the car and then said to Zhao Dapao behind the car, “Da Pao, Xiao Hang, you two go chase them.”

“Tie Zi, go check the back for a back door, and go up from there.”

“Tianlong, you stay downstairs and guard.”

As he spoke, he rushed upstairs. Before he could even step onto the stairs, several men came down the stairs towards him. These men, upon seeing Li Yu, looked as if they had seen a devil and quickly tried to run back upstairs.

However, once they saw Li Yu, there was no chance to escape.

Without a word, Li Yu opened fire. The gun fired, then stopped. Only a few corpses remained.

Li Tie, who was rushing to the back door, had just arrived when he saw two people about ten meters away, running towards the back. They seemed to have just escaped from the building. Li Tie raised his gun and shot, not missing a single one.

The building was somewhat dark and damp inside, with some mold growing on the walls, but the overall renovation was decent. This building used to be a KTV, and the soundproofing was very good.

Li Yu and Li Tie, one in front and one behind, searched from the first floor upwards, then met on the second floor. They guarded the passage and continued searching upwards.

According to the person Zhao Dapao had interrogated earlier, there were a total of twelve people here.

When they first arrived, there were five people; three were killed, and the remaining two were being chased by Da Pao and Xiao Hang.

Li Yu encountered three people when going upstairs and killed them. Li Tie encountered two people in the back and killed them.

Excluding the two being chased, only two people remained in this building.

The KTV had many private rooms, and without electricity, they looked very dark. Li Yu and Li Tie turned on their helmet flashlights, each taking a direction, kicking open one private room after another.

After searching for a round, Li Yu and his group still didn't see anyone. They searched every private room, but found no one.

So, they started searching again.

Li Yu had heard about this Xuanba KTV before, that it was opened by someone who had been to prison and later returned to his hometown. This place often offered 'colorful' services, and it was said to have some connections, allowing it to stay open.

Li Yu had never been here before; this was his first time stepping into this establishment. The decor of this place was gaudy and ostentatious, with a cheap sense of luxury due to the materials used not being particularly good.

Suddenly, Li Yu noticed the 'Tianzi' private room ahead, his eyes narrowing slightly.

This room had already been searched earlier; they would open all room doors when searching, but now, this room door was closed!

The golden door, made of unknown material, was coated with a layer of golden paint, reflecting somewhat under the white light.

In the middle of this door, there was a transparent glass panel, which reflected light so much that it was impossible to see what was inside.

Li Yu, holding his submachine gun, walked rhythmically towards the private room.

Thump~ Thump~ Thump~

Footsteps echoed continuously in the empty, silent, dark corridor. Like the footsteps of death, steadily approaching that door.

The footsteps were slow, firm, neither hurried nor delayed, yet they carried a suffocating terror and oppressive feeling.

He reached the door, paused, and the footsteps ceased.

Silence!

Li Yu pricked up his ears, listening carefully to the sounds around him. A minute passed, and no sound came.

In this eerie silence, Li Yu remained motionless.
