Li Yu patted the man's shoulder as a sign of encouragement.
Silently listening to the man, the other Salvation Army members nearby endured the pain of their wounds, not daring to make a sound.
Because, just a moment ago, someone had let out a loud wail in pain, disturbing Li Yu as he listened to the man speak.
Li Yu had impaled him with a spear, piercing him through and through.
Since then, no one else dared to make a sound.
A gust of wind blew, carrying a strong smell of blood in the air.
For some reason, Li Yu looked up at the sky; it had been sunny just a moment ago, but now some dark clouds were gathering on the horizon.
He had an ominous feeling in his heart, a sudden thumping.
Palpitations.
The chatterbox on the ground had already truthfully stated everything he knew about the Salvation Army. Now he was starting to tell stories about his childhood.
Li Yu raised his long spear, his expression cold, and said to these people in a flat tone: "Do any of you have anything to add? If you perform well, I can let you go."
Upon hearing this, the Salvation Army members on the ground were like camels in the desert finding water. They struggled to get up, opening their mouths to explain what they knew.
For a moment, seven or eight mouths spoke at once, babbling.
Li Yu couldn't hear anything clearly, so he waved his long spear and shouted: "Shut up! One by one, I'll ask first."
Pointing at the chatterbox who was still talking on the ground, though his voice had lowered significantly, Li Yu pointed at him and looked at everyone, saying: "Everything he just said, is it true?"
Silence fell for a moment. It seemed everyone was waiting for others to speak.
Li Yu had a headache: "Now that I'm letting you speak, why aren't you?"
"You, speak." Li Yu asked, pointing at the person closest to him.
"Yes, it's true. And I also know that at our headquarters..."
In this orderly fashion, one person after another began to speak, and Li Yu and the others beside him listened carefully.
Meanwhile, on the other side, Da Pao seemed to have met the greatest enemy of his life; this leader was incredibly stubborn, not revealing a single word.
He was now half-dead from torture.
His face was covered in blood, his body full of wounds, and all his fingernails had been torn off. The man's eyes seemed to want to kill, staring fixedly at Li Yu.
He was like a mummy, showing no reaction when Da Pao beat him and tortured him.
"Yu Ge, over here, I, cough cough, he didn't say anything." Da Pao looked at the half-dead person in charge on the ground and said to Li Yu, feeling perhaps that he hadn't done enough to make the man reveal much information, his words tinged with shame.
"It's fine, I've already gotten the information I need from here." Li Yu said indifferently.
Suddenly, two zombies emerged from the end of the street, moving extremely fast, reaching Li Yu and the others in less than five seconds.
"Watch out, zombies!" Li Hang, who had been on alert, shouted loudly, and everyone turned their gaze towards the street.
Uncle and Great Uncle, who were at the front, reacted quickly, directly using their long spears to resist and pierce the two zombie heads.
These two zombies had appeared extremely strangely; there had been no time to react, and their speed was incredibly fast.
Uncle and Great Uncle solved these two zombies and breathed a sigh of relief.
However, even more zombies, nearly 30 of them, surged from the end of the street, rushing towards Li Yu and his group like mad.
Uncle and Great Uncle and the others pulled out their long spears, intending to deal with these zombies with cold weapons.
Li Yu looked at the zombies at the end of the street, his heart tightening. Their speed, so fast!
Why?
A sudden attack?
As if by a ghost, Li Yu looked up and saw a large patch of dark clouds drifting from afar in the sky, seemingly boundless, while above Li Yu and his group, the sky was still clear.
It was like two different worlds; one side was covered in dark clouds, the other was clear sky.
However, judging by the situation, this patch of dark clouds would soon be upon them.
A very bad thought flashed through Li Yu's mind: zombies are often more sensitive to heavy rain than humans, just like Ants moving house or snakes crossing paths before it rains.
Animals can always sense extreme weather much earlier than humans.
These zombies being able to run out, and so quickly, must mean a very heavy rain is about to fall.
It seems this heavy rain won't be small, otherwise, zombies wouldn't dare to emerge in an area that is still clear.
Must leave quickly!
All these thoughts occurred in a flash.
Li Yu shouted to Great Uncle and Uncle: "Use guns! These zombies are hard to deal with. After we kill them, we must retreat quickly! Something's wrong!"
Upon hearing this, Uncle did not hesitate, put down his long spear, raised his automatic rifle, and started firing at the zombies.
Bang bang bang!
Uncle's marksmanship was extremely precise, both fast and accurate. Although the zombies ran very fast, they were headshotted before they could reach Uncle.
Great Uncle and Yang Tianlong next to him also opened fire.
Li Yu looked down at the people still on the ground. Those thirty zombies, left to Uncle and the others, would not be a problem; they had firearms and accurate aim.
The Salvation Army members on the ground looked at these people who killed without batting an eye, feeling that their occasional self-proclamation as Yama was simply a joke.
Li Yu raised his submachine gun.
Bang! He shot and killed a Salvation Army member on the ground.
This surprised many; Li Yu had actually opened fire directly. Immediately after, Li Yu shot and killed all the Salvation Army members on the ground.
Li Hang and Uncle next to him looked at Li Yu somewhat blankly. Just now, didn't you say you would let them go if they confessed honestly?
Bang bang bang!
The gunshots from Li Yu's side and the gunshots from Uncle and Great Uncle's side echoed each other.
The gunshots stopped!
Even the well-behaved chatterbox, who loved to talk, was shot and killed by Li Yu.
Seemingly noticing Li Hang and the others' confusion, Li Yu said coldly: "Trust is very important, but in this apocalypse, trust depends on who it's for. If you let them go today, they'll come to kill you tomorrow, kill your whole family.
When you meet people, if you can be friends, be friends. If you can't offend them, being strangers is fine. But once they become enemies, there's no talk of trust. When we do things, we cut the weeds and pull out the roots."
There was one thing Li Yu had always disliked, often seen in movies.
Even though that person had killed his beloved, or his friend.
The protagonist goes for revenge, but due to something, is forced to make the enemy say something. If the enemy doesn't say it, the protagonist starts saying he'll let him go.
Then the enemy says it, and the protagonist lets that person go.
Finally, after the enemy escapes, they return, the protagonist is abused, friends and family are massacred again, and then the protagonist, with his domineering aura, suddenly awakens after being abused, and then slays the enemy.
Finally, the movie ends with the protagonist alone, full of regret, living a life of sorrow.
The world is full of deception. Beyond life and death, nothing else matters.
Except for those you love, and those who love you, no one else matters.
Benevolence and morality, in this apocalypse, are a ray of light.
If they don't harm yourself and your family, then of course you should uphold them.
What is feared is that ignorant benevolence and morality, caring about face, preferring to let family or oneself starve rather than humble oneself and earn money.
Li Yu is not like that.
Trust is not for everyone.
After Li Hang heard what his elder brother said, he felt it made a lot of sense. If he wasn't holding a submachine gun right now, he would have wanted to take out a notebook to write it down.
Li Yu glanced at Uncle's side; they had already dealt with the zombies.
Watching the dark clouds on the horizon getting closer and closer, the unease in his heart became more and more apparent, and even the hairs on his body began to stand on end.
